The State of Florida introduced Peacock bass and Grass carp. The clock isn't going back. Might as well bring in Freshwater dolphins and 10' Asian catfish...
the photo of the snakehead was a northern snakehead, not a bullseye snakehead which is the one in south florida. Also, i dont think the video should be titled exotic fish in south florida because you are leading people to think they are going to see a bunch of fish in urban areas not just a lecture on what is happening in the park. the eveglades park is completely different compared to other locations in south florida. Nevertheless, cool film.
My guess is that it’d be impossible to prevent people from just snatching them out of the wild when nobody’s looking & either breeding them for profit or selling the wild individuals
The free camping in the back country area sounds nice, even if one has to kayak to get to it. I am no fan of the kayak, it is heavy work for someone that has had cancer...
Introduced peacock bass to help with the problem?? Why did we not learn when we introduced startling s to the United States to control an insect pest. Its going to backfire big time. Everytime.
If they're so bad then they're invasive, not exotic. Exotic means non-native with no negative effect on its environment. While invasive is non-native and damages its environment.
It's kinda funny to watch this in 2020 and see just how much scientist perspective has changed on these fish.

And piranhas
They both keep the invasive species in check like in the wild
Florida should have implemented what they do in Australia long time ago.

Why is it that non-native species can be purchased at any pet store? Yet native species are more highly regulated?

Great video guys 👌🏼👊🏼
the canals of florida are not natural bodies of water that have changed the environment for native species. who is to blame for that.

Yet people throw back these fish instead of killing them. No catch and release on nonnative fish!
Its a waste of time. That cannot have any impact at All towards the problem. That's just cruelty.
Its difficult to control?? Lol buddy its impossible. Ever seen a pair of cichlids breed? You have no hope.
Tropical fish are cooler anyways

Good Lord how condescending, especially the dictionary definitions! Hey corrupt Florida politicians, how about fixing your toxic algae problem?!
No fish should be sold in pet stores that can negative the environment and permit should be manitory so there is no release
