I just imagine that this 8s an actual team of troopers with unique talents that make them indisposable.
Like, one of them is a master of electronics and engineering, and the droid voices were just prerecorded lines hooked up to some hidden buttons on the gloves.
One is amazing at coming up with distractions and diversions.
And another knows how to obtain any equipment they desire regardless of how difficult it is to acquire, like the cuffs.
But they're kept on an isolated star destroyer because while they do have a 100% success rate for their assignments, they cause chaos whenever they have nothing to do.
