Just a quick question and I may be answering my question in my question, but, to me it seems that 1.5 inches thick is a thick cutting board. I know you can by a prefab one from department store that would be about .5 to .75 inches. I know because I have some but would like to make my own. My question is being it's made your way (meaning at home not meaning James's way), does it need to be that thick or is it simply preference? Is there an advantage to having a thicker cutting board versus a thinner one? I'm thinking I would stick to about an inch thick. Thank you for a great video and tips and advice. On a different note, my favorite part of your videos isn't necessarily the woodworking part. I love seeing the family involvement. Your daughter and my daughters both love to photobomb any chance they get and that's awesome. Both of my girls like to be involved in what ever I do. We swapped out a door and tailgate on my truck and the my daughter wanted to do most of the work. My boys are the same way, it just takes a little more incentive to get them outside. LoL! So many kids these days could care less about what their parents do. Great example as a dad. Thank you. God bless, Joe
I watch way too much RUclips but you've moved into my top 5. I love your work, simple yet clear voice over, and enjoy how you make it a family affair. Cheers
The build looks amazing... and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the family building together with dad teaching along the way! Reminds me of how I used to shadow my dad (a now retired carpenter) day in and day out when he was in his workshop. Sparked my interest years ago as a kid, and at the same time, shared a special bonding moment for he and I. Major props to u!!!👍
Hi Jim. Thank you. I definitely feel lucky. And I actually have five daughters who love woodworking. That is awesome that your daughter became a nurse. Thanks for watching ~James
The absolute best part about this video is the whole family doing something everyone enjoys, together. Oh, and the cutting board was pretty cool too! ;)
@@KingsFineWoodworking No reply needed. :) I agree completely, what a beautiful family. The family in the videos is one of the main reasons I finally clicked the subscribe button, because your videos are warm. It's so refreshing and nice to see so much love in such a sick a world.
Looks great she came up with a good design and we love your family James y'all are a caring wonderful amazing family and this is the number one reason that we watch your channel thumbs up my friends thank you for teaching us so much stuff
I really wish i was able to learn like your daughters .. I spent most of my time running the streets when I was younger until joining the military.. but anyways what a great skill you’re teaching them .. I hope they know how blessed they’re ..
How rare it is to see the whole family partaking in a common activity. So much nicer to see them immersing their mind into something useful than wasting their lives on computer games &/ television. Keep up the good work. Kind regards.
Dear James, many thanks for your hearted reply. Indeed one is blessed who has his/her children to take an active interest in their work/hobby. This is an added bonus for the children as they acquire another education into something useful that they can make use use in later years & just like their parent share with their own & perpetuate an ancestor's fine skill & passion. Your legacy will live on for a mighty long time my good man; you've assured yourself of that; this is probably one of the finest way to contribute to future generations. Kind regards.
Loved this one ! Your use of tools and explanation of how and why they are used makes sense. Also I love the fact that you have such awesome daughters that actually like to hang out with you in the shop. My boys used to hang out with me in my shop and now both of them are in the trades using skills that began at home in the shop. Keep up the great videos and enjoy the times you have with your girls they'll learn so much.
You all did a beautiful job with that cutting board. Very helpful as well with the instructions. Most of all it’s pretty damn cool you got all of your girls in shop working with you.
Love the Family working on this together! You are building the next generation of craftsmen/woman I am not politically correct but you get my message! OUTSTANDING!!
James, you are a kind man with a good soul. Because of this you have been rewarded with a beautiful family. Happiness is a bi-product of right living. Well done sir.

I like the way you used clamps from both the top and bottom to prevent any bowing, obviating the need for cauls. Very cool!
