I just received my V10, which is the cheaper, but very similar variation. Loving it so far, the layout makes a lot of sense and feels way more natural than my previous, "regular" mechanical keyboard.
Got the Q8 about 2 weeks ago. got gateron red switches that are decently smooth from factory, but got some novelkeys navy blues and put some rubber orings on the keycaps for softer bottom out. getting used to the alice layout is more time consuming than expected, but it definitely made longer typing sessions more comfortable and less fatiguing than with my gk61
I didn't go to Alice layout because of the ergonomics. I just wanted that split spacebar and center Fn key (all programmable with VIA!), and split-spacebar keyboards have gotten hard to find. However. . . After using the Q10 for a while and then going back to a standard keyboard, it felt sort of cramped and awkward. That was when I thought maybe there is something to this Alice ergo stuff.
The main reason I'm considering this is for the separate spacebar keys, the left side which I want to use as backspace like my old NMB keyboards from the 90's. The big drawback is that I'm used to TLK or full keyboards and will have to learn some new tricks for coding. I am constantly using CTRL+arrow keys, home/end, and page up/down. I also can't understand why they would leave no keys to the left of the arrow keys like the ctrl key which is often combined with arrows to jump by words. I'll have to reprogram the center Fn button as Ctrl and that might work.
I dunno if you went with this board or not, but the fact it's fully programmable makes it easy to change out or add/remove keys you're accustom to using. I'm still using this board to this day (actually typing this out on it now) and I'm still super happy with it!
And now the Q14 Pro is out, which adds not only a number pad on the left (weirdly with right-handed layout) but also one more modifier key on the bottom row. Seems like every key layout Keychron produce is just a little bit more refined.
@@Zobeid OMG what on earth are they thinking to put the number pad on the left. I know they're going to say it's to give more room for your mouse but good lord this is totally unusable for a right-handed person.
@@nicholash8021 I'm a right-handed person, and I think it's great. I can use all the nav keys over there. I just wish they'd moved the + and Enter keys and made it a left-handed style numpad layout, but that's a quibble.
I'm interested in this keyboard. Which caps set are compatible ? Standard alice ? Because it's not the first time that i see a "custom" keyboard layout not compatible with existing keycaps set.
Anyone transitioned from normal alice to Q10? I find this keyboard hard to use because the macro keys messes up my typing. Its 2 days now and im still not used to typing on this keyboard. Anyone have suggestion? how long for you did you get used to this keyboard?
I absolutely LOVE my Q10. I've had it for about a week now and love it so much that I bought a second one for the office! After watching this great review, I thought I'd come back to let you know that I picked mine up for
I liked the keyboard, the only thing I find useless about it is the RGB. I still can't understand why RGB is necessary. If it had an internal LED to illuminate the letters, it would be ok, but otherwise it's too much nonsense.
Let me know if you get QMK working on those Keychron boards. I only got VIA to do things with the Q3 I have. Frustrating, as I wanted to have different static led illumination per key. Having all the "hot keys" for a photo editor a different color versus the rest of the keys helped refresh the memory of all the hotkey combos. First person shooters was great too, as having different color for reload, versus interact, was a nice feature too. The best keyboard hands down for WASD game movement I have ever used is the Steelseries Merc Stealth. The left hand angle was perfect.
My problem with the Q8 is that the right spacebar wasn't centered under the N key where my thumb naturally falls. The Q10 fixed that, and the new Q14 Pro adds one more modifier key on the bottom row.
Thank you for taking your time to inform others. I came to your video to find out about the Alice layout since it's in the title but unfortunately you covered everything _except_ the Alice layout. Again thank you for the info but you failed to address the key topic of your title.
@@Oridemos I wouldn't say "all keychrons" but most of the Q-series that has metal body really does ping pretty badly. Some people seem to not mind that, I absolutely hate that annoying same frequency ringing. The smaller ones like Q2 seem to fair better than something like Q3. But yeah, force break mod it and you've got an amazing board.
Well.. for ergonomics the weight is important too, e.g. if someone can't carry a heavy keyboard like this, because of health reasons, this is not it. I didn't see in any part of the video if the tilt of the keyboard is adjustable at all. Nor did I see how for you the transition from regular layout to this Alice layout was (did you get any cramps, how fast are you compare to the previous keyboard, and so on). It's a good video in presentation otherwise, sound and video is very clear.
Sad - all these influencers review the board as though they have used it for a long time and next week there is another board they review. It’s so fake. Alice Layout without a slant is not ergonomic isn’t it? How long have you used this to recommend it? Are you still using it? How much do you get paid to recommend it?
Hello Holly, I want to address a common misconception that hardware reviewers are biased towards the companies that send them products for review. Let me be crystal clear, I (Rich) personally purchased this board with my own hard-earned money. Keychron has never reached out to us, which is unfortunate, but it further emphasizes our commitment to providing honest and unbiased reviews. As a matter of fact, I am typing this comment on the Q10 at this very moment. I understand that some may assume that RUclipsrs are incapable of giving an honest review when they receive products for free, but let me assure you, that is not the case for us. We take pride in being truthful and transparent with our viewers, and we value our reputation. Our integrity is worth more than any free product. So, please take our review for what it's worth - an honest and authentic assessment of the product.

I'm typing this comment out now on my Q10 as we speak. It's been one of the easiest transitions I've made between boards.
using alice layout for a while now, slower typing at times but much more comfortable than the standard layout
My Q10 has been my daily for a year now. Love it.
Man, you've sold me. I've been looking for an ergonomic replacement for my Ducky Shine 7 for awhile now. Thanks for the review!
Love it! Thanks for watching!
also upgrading my ducky lol

really dig the little "shave and a haircut" thing you did during the typing test. :P
It's the little things! Glad you noticed!

I just got the Q10. I use both pc and Mac and want to be able to between both without having to toggle from the back. How can I set it up? Thanks
fantastic review man, keep going. 💪

NONE of the available keycaps allow shine-through legends?
New to your channel. Love the quality of the video! New sub 😊
Also random but do you have Invisalign?
I do not!
I don't get it why they didn't put FN2 next to the right space bar on Keychron Q10 in the same way it was done in Q8

Is it just me or the sound from the test horrible? Sounded metallic clunky
all keychrons sound like garbage unless properly modded with tape mod, force break mod, etc.

You gotta do that Monty Python bit where a gorilla hand reaches to touch the keyboard while your test typing and you slap it away lol
Can anyone tell me if keychron keyboards work on Linux? Looks like there are only macOS and Windows option on keyboards...
They're just standard USB HID devices, they work fine in Linux
Great review would you ever consider reviewing the q11 split keyboard since it is better for hand placement?
Absolutely! The Q11 is intriguing because of the flexibility of the split and it’s all-metal design! We’ll have to see if we can get our hands on one!
A very qualitative video and good review, surprised to see you had so few subscribers, I subbed and I'll wait for more content 👍
Thank you so much! You’re helping us grow!

WHen this goes wireless I'll get one
I just got an email k15 pro, low profile
Q10 Max tho?

That sounds so awful. Even with your other switches.
I wouldn’t want to type on whatever you think sounds good
Should be better in real life.
