You found a great guy and foodie to hang with Adam. I love how you review what you think of the foods over 30 days. The street mans views and oddly living in Barstow Ca. and can't get out i have tried food from every place you have gone to so far and some of them from take out people bring me :)
Okay excuse me while I totally fan girl here. Portillo’s was created & founded by my grandfather and I’ve watched you for YEARS and this is just too cool to me! I’m glad you enjoyed your visit!!
well your grandfather is a legend. I am going there tonight to get my burger fix. I have eaten so many times there I lost count. Adam, come to Chicago some time for a food tour.
I went to Portillo's for dinner last night. What a neat place! I've driven by it so many times but never ate there. The Chicago dog, onion rings and cake shake was about $10. Really good!
I loved today’s episode. I am a native Chicagoan, but moved to Florida 20 years ago. I missed Portillo’s big time until they opened one near me in the Tampa area a few years ago. Their Chicago dogs are good but my favorite Portillo’s item is the Italian beef and sausage combo sandwich. Their chocolate cake is also very good.
I'm thoroughly enjoying these food vlogs! Not only do you get to see awesome food you get to see the amazing buildings and scenery all around. Love it!! Thanks!!
that was actually fun watching two distguished gentlemen munching on good food got me hungry and the trees were interesting ,,,love seeing big trees its a great thing to see and it gives me a little faith on the human condition not destroying everything in its path...
That place is great. Decor is great. Building is great. Vibe is great. Food is great. Service is great. Everyone who goes there is great!! Fun video...looks so good now I’m craving it!!
Takes us 4.5-5 hours to get to Chicago. We still go once a year for Portillos, Superdawg, and pizza(varies on where we get pizza). The food at those places are so good. Try Portillos italian beef sandwich too.
Sport peppers are the actual peppers name. Probably isolated from Tabasco or some other Southwest, NA variety. In Southwestern and TexMex cooking it would be used as any other mild heat green or red chile.
We live in L.A. and have family in Chicago. They always talk about Jimmy's hotdogs and Portillo's. We are definitely going to stop by the Buena Park Portillo's to see what they have raving about all these years. Looks delicious! 😋
Thank you Adam, you are my eyes to see what is happening in the world! Some day soon I pray I will be able to experience the same joy exploring life out in the real world like you do!
The chocolate cake is amazing at Portillo's. Didn't know you could get a shake version. The lemon cake they do seasonally is the best cake I have ever had, no joke. The strawberry shortcake is amazing, as well.
And celery salt on top. They're called sport peppers and no KETCHUP on any dogs in Chicago is the rule...actually some dog stands don't have any ketchup on the premises. Next time you should try the Maxwell St Polish w/mustard & grilled onions:) Also they do ship nation wide!
I am ashamed to say I have a Portillo's in the city closest to where I live and I have never eaten there. But lord almighty, watching you unwrap the food made me soooooooooo hungry.
I just have to say your food series has been VERY entertaining! I have not kept up on each and every one, but I will go back and view the ones I missed. Rule of thumb on chili: on hotdogs, no beans. In a bowl, beans. I love it both ways as well.
Adam the usual Chicago way to eat an Italian beef is to have it dipped. The whole sandwich is nice and covered in the beef juices. The soggy bread is one of the best parts.
From Chicago here and the Italian beef only resembles a French Dip in the fact that both have shaved beef. The seasoning is very different and Portillo's is the best when it comes to Italian Beef Sandwiches. If you like peppers get the sweet peppers with cheese and get it dipped. It's an experience!
Ya ain’t a kidding, the food locations look good, but I wanted to go sometime anyway for the theme and old timey fun stuff (haven’t been to California in years)
Chicago in da house 😎. Those are sport peppers Adam. Good choice on the Chicago style hotdog. Try the "big beef" sandwich next time 👌. Love your vids buddy
Vanilla seems to be a taste for the mature taste buds. I now love it myself and always thought the same as you when I was younger. A vanilla shake can be perfection.
Woo, this Series means alot to Me. I spent the 1st 65 yrs of My life in SoCal. Been up in NorCal for 6 Yrs now. It's so great to see the Cities,Eateries and Parks fm the old stomping grounds. Thanks for sharing!!!
Dear Mr Woo: I love your new series on food . Today I was driving past Portillo’s. I had a chili dog and it was good although I do prefer their beef dip. A place I may recommend is Carneys on Sunset. They have the best chili burger around . Thanks Mr Woo.
The quote at the 8:18 mark had me laughing and is also relatable: “that I know nothing about food...other than the fact that it tastes really good.” Lol.
It’s 0930 and I’m hungry for a hot dog, shake and onion rings now! Thanks ATW! 🤤😁. Side note-I wonder if you can add a chocolate cake slice to a strawberry shake?! Too much?
Adam, ! When u talked of a ""Chicago dog"""I started listening! Portillo's is da' best! Italian beef with sweet peppers, next time for your pleasure. Super vid...
Grew up in Addison, IL the birthplace of Portillo's, ate many hot dogs and Italian beef dipped with sweet and hot peppers. I lived near the Portillo's family residence and have been to a couple parties back when they still lived in Illinois. Still live very near a Portillo's and still visit regularly.
The second Portillo's in California is in Moreno valley. We have two Portillo's in the Phoenix AZ area. You had two of my favorite items. The chili dog and the chicago dog. I lived in the Chicago area for 30 years so I have eaten at Portillo's a lot
This was fun to watch your review and made me want to drive to a Portillo's as I watched. Been a patron since I was very young. There's 44 locations in Illinois. His first location was a trailer without a bathroom or electricity. Expanded quickly to a couple of small buildings and the business grew very rapidly from there and is now internationally famous. Seems every country wants Portillo's restaurants of their own. One little known aspect of their menu is that whoever their bun supplier is has figured out how to make them so they don't disintegrate with the wet condiments and sauces, which is always the case at other restaurants.
Best chili cheese dogs hands down!! Pretty much best hot dogs around too. Also love the sausage and beef sandwich. AWESOME interior / decor. Love vintage signs and this place is packed with them!
The chopped salad is great... Edit. "Is a Chicago dog like an Italian Beef...." You have to come back to Chicago and get a Chicago food tour. The peppers are sport pepers.
I used to know a girl at work and she always smelled so good. I asked her one day. “What is that fragrance/cologne?” She said. “Vanilla, Everyone loves the smell of cookies” Yes vanilla smells good.
Been to Portillo’s in Chicago and loved it. Just got notice that we will be getting one in my neighborhood later this year. Sadly, Jay Leno won’t be there
i didn't think I would enjoy watching someone eating fast food for 30 days. But I have watched every one and want to go to Southern California and check out the fast food. Thank you, Woo.
OMG... Adam, When you go to Portillos you must get an Italian beef. Ask for it "wet"! When I lived in Chicago, I ate there at least 2 times a week or I went to Johnny's when I wanted a beef. Portillos literally dip the whole sandwich in the auju. And if it's done right, it isn't soggy. Also the peppers they put on them are called Giardiniera peppers! I am soooo jealous right now! Makes me want to drive to south Florida just to get one!
If I have never said it before, You have the best YT channel of all. There are so many wonderful items on Portillo's menu. Next time I would suggest a Maxwell Street Polish Sausage or a beef and sausage. Please end the meal with a slice of Chocolate cake. You will thank your taste buds. I'm off to Portillo's now.
Ken seems like such a mellow and nice person. I always appreciate how nice of a dude he seems to be!

It's technically his main channel now...
I went to Portillo's for dinner last night. What a neat place! I've driven by it so many times but never ate there. The Chicago dog, onion rings and cake shake was about $10. Really good!
Your friend seems like such a nice guy! He should come with you more often. 😊
We love our portillos here in the Chicago area. I usually go with a Chicago dog and cheese fries
That or Italian beef. We go to Chicago once a year for Portillos, pizza, and Superdawg. It's about a 4.5-5 hour one way drive.
If can afford I will eat there every day, love the Italian Beff.
From Chicago, here. Italian beef with hot peppers dipped is the way to go. Dang this made me miss it!
Agreed, just missing the giardinara! I'm craving Portillo's from Oregon now.
And no cheese!

At Portillo's the little green peppers are called "sport peppers."
And you have to be a good sport to want to eat them because they're so dang hot!
@@davidwatts4517 Nah
That's funny, in gardening, an unusual (shape, size, etc) vegetable is called a "sport"
Sport peppers are the actual peppers name. Probably isolated from Tabasco or some other Southwest, NA variety.
In Southwestern and TexMex cooking it would be used as any other mild heat green or red chile.
Sport peppers are less spicy than any type of jalapeno... Super
Thanks for the video I’m from Chicago and now live here in California. I didn’t know Portillos being out here until now. I will be going ASAP

Heck yea
The chocolate cake is amazing at Portillo's. Didn't know you could get a shake version. The lemon cake they do seasonally is the best cake I have ever had, no joke. The strawberry shortcake is amazing, as well.
The reason the chocolate cake is so moist is they add mayonnaise to it, no joke.
Every day when I watch these I get so hungry.
Chocolate cake shake, cheese fries and a beef with mozzarella and peppers!! Yumm!!!
I love Portillo’s. My daughter came home from Texas the other day, the first thing she wanted is Portillo’s
