    Ah great to see the update video :) Glad it's gone well, and once lockdown is finished hopefully you'll do another with some of that beautiful Irish scenery!
    I watched this whole series and was really engrossed - i thoroughly enjoyed the journey, from the comfort of my warm room lol! I've actually just bought a 1981 T25 Devon in the yellow and white like yours is, just to pick it up when the workspace is available in a couple of weeks to put it in. To be honest, watching your videos with so much rust scared the s*** out of me, but the one i have is rusty in all the usual places but - i believe - structurally solid - in fact looks brand new in comparison to what you started with haha!
    Anyway, really just wanted to thank you for a piece of advice that you gave and which i took - don't get inside and start dreaming of sleeping in the bed and nice trips away - look at all the outside first.! - i didn't even look inside the windows on my first inspection - just body work. Hopefully it's only as bad as i expect. It won't be though will it! Haha - i'm excited to get stuck in - so thank you very much once more. 🙂✌️

      Thanks very much, I'm actually way more into having the van than I thought I would be. Even going for a takeaway and setting up in the back has been great and despite the hardship getting it done I'm still considering doing another to sell on. I wish you luck with yours and happy travels 👍✌️

    Looks Amazing. Many hours of work what an achievement considering you've done everything yourself 👍

    in case someone is wondering. its FTDI vag-com cable. Tire diameter difference vs Front is 1.2 inches (26.9 dia vs 25.7), So for the rear you raised it approx 0.6in.

    Great video. It seems like yours is running really well and definitely has that pull in higher gears that mine is missing. What sort of fuel consumption are you getting from it?

    • @TheTinski07
      @TheTinski07  3 года назад

      Cheers for that 👍 To be honest I can't really say what the fuel consumption is. Our gauge is all over the place and we both top it up but to hassard a guess i would say mid 30s. I've driven a fair few now but not an aaz and the only one that would I could consider decently powerful was the 2.1 fuel injected one and ours would eat it. Now before I powered up those sensors it was what I would call only ok. Definitely more like a turbo diesel than a Tdi and really lacking in the high gears and on hills but it was a different world when they were sorted. Has that kinda surging power you'd expect from a tdi

    Nice build 👍 tdi is the way to go ;) about the brake relay i tought you can just switch some of the wires to get the correct readout. I had the potentio meter from a golf underneath the floor and with a little bit of water the same issue as you had in the end deleted that and gone for a golf mk4 pedal.

      Thank you, I have seen some converted to a pedal. When I brake the rear light switch two relays together, 1 to 12v and 1 to sensor ground. Has the right effect but wrong signal on vag-com. Might try a different potentiometer and if not a pedal. I think the potentiometer will be short lived in the engine bay anyway although I am going wrapping it in denso tape.

      @@TheTinski07 1 5 pin relay should do the job. Use the 12v feed to the brake light to switch the relai only 1 of the 2 brake senders earth on pin 30 and the signal wires from the brake switches on 87 and 87a ;)

      I did originally use a 5pin but was worried the switching time would cause a cause enough of a delay to flag a problem to the ecu. I was also originally sending it to ground instead of sensor ground too but changed that around the same time as the relay. I will look into it again. Thank you

      For the record you were right, I put in a new pentiometer and tick over is perfect 👍

    hey man, lovely work fair play to you! I was considering doing a tdi conversion at some stage, I have a straight 1.9d in her at the moment, I was having glow plug issues as well in mine and i'd say they were the originals that were in her, as they looked disgusting! I used ACF50 on them for a few days before I went at them, it's not what it's normally used for but since I bought my rusty ol' bus it's been a life saver, I haven't had to drill anything yet (touch wood!) Might be of some use to you anyways, thanks for all the vids:)

      Thanks for that, Still have one to change so will give that a go. I really don't want yo have to drill out another one 👍
