Owen mate... Going Udon Tani next month. I've seen the videos but which hotel do u reckon for as central as possible near the bars... And what do I tell taxi driver for the bars? I talk Thai OK but just need names etc of destination. It seems there is more than one area for the bars?
Have a good trip pal. I stayed at the old inn which is dead central. Just ask for soi sampan. The bars are on this soi. Another bar area is just left at the top of soi sampan it is called nutty park. There are also hotels here and across the main road. Easy to find Taxi fare about 100 baht

I know these are older vloggs and i too like to have a wander around, but always find myself drawn back to beer bars, maybe because its easier to chat with the girls and it is nearly always fun, my thai is limited and can order a couple of meals say hello etc, i find my pronucation of the words isnt understood by people outside of main tourist bar areas, dont know if you have experienced this. how have you learned thai which by the way is much better than mine. also i travel to surin to meet with a girl, but they speak Khmer more than thai, another twist and i noticed some issan chat in the market (zepp or zeab means same as aroy tasty) cheers and i know youre traveling soon have a great trip
I think my Thai is limited really just basic stuff. If I could put the effort in I could do well but I find it difficult to motivate myself. I have learned by listening to cd`s and RUclips. I know what you mean that outside tourist areas its much harder to be understood
