This is an incorrect statement I've heard by many pastors. This statement vilainizes Eve. In the bible Adam was standing with Eve as the serpent persuaded Eve to eat the fruit. Instead of Adam protecting Eve from deceit and harm, Adam ate, too. That's how it really happened.
I know it's an allegory but villianizing the mother of all mothers creates a picture that's worth a million words. It says that if it wasn't for Eve the women of today would not be the downfall of men.
