Years back, my mum and Dad were like this couple. I so frustrated because my mum was not ready to live the marriage because she got married late and what will people say? I have to tell her to live my Dad or if she die I will not attend her funeral or allow anybody to talk about her to me again in live. I was around 12years then. Am glad she left him and raise myself and my brothers along with little support from him,she brought us up in the way of the Lord and she is doing just fine. Am glad my mum is still alive. And we are still praying for my Dad's salvation

I got married in deeper life. Abusive mariage. I run away. But my Pastor often call me and things he says do me like putting knife in my wounds. He keeps saying i should have stayed😭. I keep telling him my husband needs to rededicate his life to Christ. If he Comes back to Jesus, no one will Ask him to look for his family...now i and the children are fine. My soul is lifted by this. I don't know what abusive marriage is. But I remember a guy i wanted to marry before my husband came in the scene who slap me in the road for not picking his calls and stressing him to come around to check on me. As soon as he noticed that my mind is made up on him, he knelt down and was pleading and was telling me that love made him to do so. I needed no prophet to tell me what will happen if I marry him. My point is that many saw this in relationship and believe that balm of Gilead will change him. A broken relationship is better than a broken marriage let this be our watch words. Firstly any man that can not allow guidance in his home maybe their Pastor or anyone who is more mature & spiritual than them, he's not worth marrying. There are times we will need other people opinion, wisdom and intervention in handling some issues. So the man is not hiding it from them who he is to the Pastor, even the wife's mother.
May we not be guilty here and in heaven even the children will partake of it.
People in this situation should please seek counsel and don't allow the devil to cut you short.

I feel angered when I hear of people passing through situations like this. Hearing "pastors" quote the cliche what God joined together, let no one put asunder; they seem to forget the Bible said WHAT GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER! Not all marriages are joined together by God & that is the TRUTH! This stigma against people who walk out of their marriages in order to survive, needs to END!! This is a timely message! I'm glad that when I was in an abusive marriage I kept telling my pastor to pray for me over and over again but one time he told me that Rebecca you are still young therefore do not let yourself die and leave your children in the name of trying to save your marriage. Even if you were legally married, if God deems it to give you another husband after divorce, He will, God hates divorce, but what if you were married to the child of the devil?
I was married in Deeper Life Bible Church. My ex-husband is even a pastor in the church. For over sixteen years I suffered from domestic violence. He gaslighted me, blackmailed me and the worst of all, he came up with an evil agenda against my life that I had depression and mental disorder and attempted to force psychiatric treatment on me. It was at that point I ran for my dear life. Thank God I am free from all his abuses today. Ladies out there, please know that the covenant of life is superior to the covenant of marriage.
My final thoughts on this amazing (as usual, by the grace of God film) is that not all marriages are put together by God, though marriage is Gods own idea, man has taken it and turned it into their own idea. Sometimes we find ourselves situations just like this, and to be forced to stay, is to not allow the blood of Christ to do it's work in either party. Thank you so much for acknowledging what is usually not acknowledged in the church. Let us not turn the word of God into foolishness.
I Never seeked the will of God in mariage. I jumped into it to run away from my parents. M'y father abused Mum and even us the children...but it is not an excuse to jump into mariage, nor seeking God's will. WE must be carefull and patient in mariage matters. I prayed a lot before I got married because I didn't want an abusive husband..And because I dont believe in divorce. And God bless me with an amazing husband. Every day I thank God for his life..even though I don't believe in divorce i will never advise a woman to stay in an abusive marriage run for your dear life.
Not all are physical violence some are emotional blackmail,good men on the surface but rotten in the insides, they disrespect their spouse, and make home unbearable for them, the woman keep wallowing in pain, and the thing the pastors will say is at least he's not physically assaulting you. Yet the spouse keep pushing fall into depression and may eventually die in the cause... May God keep helping our homes... This type of scenario happen most often in christian gathering especially amidst the said minister of God. Most of their wife are emotionally recked. Thanks for this message.

We are currently on this matter concerning my younger sister.
A man who beats her up at every slightest thing she did and worse still, rapes her every blessed night at knife poing or with her hands tied up with ropes....oh God! I felt like he should be used for suya for doing that. The confusing aspect is that these people go through this for a very long time appearing happy and faking "minor accidents ". We are still on the matter with the Himan Rights Authority.

Physical assault was the least form of abuse I endured in a demonic marriage. Emotional, psychological, mental and verbal abuse were the order of the day.
Looking back now, I wonder how I did not lose my sanity, commit suicide or even commit murder. God saved me! His amazing grace and mercies saved me. I will tell my story one day. I praise the name of the Lord.

I remember how my pastor tagged me an arrogant and feminist woman for suggesting that he allows any couple facing abuse in their marriage go on quarantine.
Most men in church attacked me and the pastor got so angry that u can hardly know he's the calm pastor we all knew..his wife stood up to support what I said , that was where I knew she's even been abused by the pastor in question, he couldn't control himself and he embarrassed himself that day .na so bible study end .

Daughter of Zion, you did the right thing by separating yourself from the monster, and don't you ever feel bad or regret your actions. Keep praying for him from afar. Unfortunately, some abusers can not change. It has been woven into the fabric of their being.
The church must step up and take responsibility. The body of Christ needs to review the doctrine and protocols regarding separation and divorce. It is wicked to continue to mandate an abused spouse to remain with their abusers. It is a shame.
I know of a sister who divorced, and the church treated her like a plague. She endured the marriage for 10 years and could not cope anymore.
God later showed her mercy and sent another man her way. The church frowned against her remarriage, but God was obviously leading her. There were confirmations from a few other children of God, and we were sure God was leading her. Funny enough, her ex’s surname is the same as her new husband's. It was obvious that God was ready to wipe her shame. She remarried, and within 4 years, God gave her 3 wonderful children. The ex maltreated her because she could not have children. We all keep saying God hates divorce, but in this sister’s case, God was in it. I don't understand the confusion around this theme. May God help our youth to choose right from the onset.

Every of this man's words, characterizations, and attitude reminded me of what I endured in my marriage. I took a bold step and left. The effect of the discrimination I faced in several churches is not different from the effect of the abusive marriage that I left. Even my children were discriminated against whether subtle or not. The reason why some women would rather die in their abusive marriages is because of this discrimination from the church. We can do better as God's people. Jesus did not discriminate against the woman who had 5 husbands and the one who she was living with was not even her husband. I made up my mind to STOP going to any church because of some of these issues but God intervened. We have further pushed some women out of Christianity because of these issues. Let's do better to support single parents. Let us fear God and obey him by being less judgemental of these set of people.
This message is really needed in the christian marriage... Many sisters and brothers have lost their lives in abusive marriages all in the name of 'what would people say' and the ignorance of many men of God.

It would be a narrow escape if she was not bitter, angry, accusing God in her heart for her suffering.........
When the Bridegroom comes at the point of her sudden death, will she have oil in her lamp, will her lamp have been trimmed......what would be her focus then, Christ or survival?

As a young preacher in 1994, i advised a wife to leave her abusive marriage. It didn't end well with me as she reported me to her vicar. I severely reprimanded, she was killed a few months later. RIP Mama Muigai.

3 years separated come July 14, but praying and trusting God not necessarily for my marriage but for his will. And growing in the Lord. The word also says what God has join together let no man put asunder. Now we can not use the Word of God against itself. God would never have you marry an unbeliever. The devil would have us trapped in a union that God never ordained, to truncate our purpose and destiny. Anything we do without God and without faith is sin. So if God did not join you, and he or she is not saved, YOU ARE NOT MARRIED IN THE SIGHT OF GOD. You are living in sin, which is disobedience to the Word of God, and allowing Satan to destroy God's plan for your life. Run, you were never married. Now if the two of you are saved and you marry, without fornication, stay married and seek counseling. We know a Christian is one who follows/obeys the Word of God. A man who hit his wife, then confesses and repents and does not continue to do it, is a Christian. However a man who knows the word but beats his wife and does not repent but continues, is a SINNER. Now if you were once in a sinful union disguised as marriage and have repented, you can ask God for a husband or wife and God will let you know his will for your life. Keep in mind the gifts and callings of the Lord is without repentance. Therefore if it was God's will for you to marry, your mistake did not change his will. Learn to follow God's voice and wait on him he will send your spouse in his timing.
And if there is not mind renewal let there be divorce Lord have mercy
