The fact that the Steamdeck holds 30 fps with raytracing is mindblowing, this machine is a BEAST. I'm playing RE 4 Remake now at 40 locked and looks incredible.
My frame rates for RE4R is variable. I can get anywhere from low 30s to 60 FPS. For some reason, the village area is where my frames suffer most and once I get to Salazar's castle, I can get 40-50 FPS. I toggle between FSR 2 Quality and Native, but I can't really see a difference in image quality.
Ha! Tell me how the clocktower runs. Even with fsr ultra performance I tanked into the 20 fps. Honestly unplayable unless that was my only absolute last option. However most of the game runs 40+ fps
You'd have ambient occlusion for foliage and better shadows on the non-raytraced version and hit 60 stable. This version simply isn't worth the downgrade in some areas even for the novelty of running it on the switch.
Just played this game on the non-enhanced edition, and it was such a great experience. To be specific though, I was on the OLED model, and I used gyro + thumbsticks for aiming. Those two made this even more enjoyable for me than on my PS5.
1. You can mod in FSR2 or XeSS in Metro Exodus Enhanced and it makes a world of difference 2. Shading rate in Exodus is horrendous. Using FSR1 makes the game looks vastly better than shading rate, it's that bad. i tried myself at 900p FSR 1.0 to 1080p vs 1080p with Shading Rate 0.7x. Absolutely no contest, FSR 1.0 was miles ahead.
Dude, I don't know if steam deck has the hardware rt capabilities, but the graphics you show ain't got raytracing. I'm playing right now the enhanced edition on pc, it looks nothing like on your video. You've got no rt gi, it's just a flat ambient light color, like it was since the 90's. It's particularly visible in the desert interior, where nothing casts an ambient shadow, and in the train carriage on volga
I will try with a lower resolution and higher settings, I think the low pixel count + lower settings makes it way too little rays, but without RT capabilities available in the GPU, the game doesn't launch
I saw that Control is Steam Deck verified. Any chance you can do a performance test for that one? I recall my Xbox One having a hard time with that game while my Series X runs it without issue. "Raytracing Only" sounds impressive until you realize that the rtgi at low settings only runs at quarter resolution. That means a quarter of the steam deck resolution which is 320x200. Even lower if you run the game at lower than native res (1280x800) on the deck. You shouldn't be surprised it runs. It's not that impressive.

Wow I am gonna play this on my ROG co's that does ray tracing pretty well in some of these older RT games. This game runs great on my RX 6800 as well. Pretty mad it runs on the steamdeck I haven't booted my 2 up in a while. Might check it out as well. the bounced lighting works fast on 6800 though.
I first finished this game on my PS4 Pro. Awesome game! In fact, awesome game series! I played and finished them all. Last year I finished the enhanced edition on my Steam Deck with Windows 11. Same settings after some testing. The 0.7 scale setting doesn't look too bad on the 7" display and the RT made a real difference in the games lighting and the stealth sections. It was a solid 30FPS experience. It's my preferred way of playing the game.

Agreed, I’m positively surprised by how well my Steam Deck OLED runs plenty of titles.

On gamepad it's impossible because devs made built-in deadzones. Happily we have steam input here so we can adjust deadzone compensation
