- Published on Apr 16, 2026
- Do cats apologize to humans? How do cats say sorry after a conflict? In this video, we break down the science behind cat apology signals, feline body language, and the hidden ways your cat tries to repair your bond. If you’ve ever wondered whether your cat understands when you’re upset, this deep dive into cat behavior and feline communication will change how you interpret their actions forever.
Many cat owners misread cat calming signals as indifference. But feline psychology reveals something completely different. When your cat avoids eye contact, stays near you after tension, slow blinks, purrs intensely, head bunts, or even exposes their belly, these are not random gestures. These are biological and behavioral repair mechanisms rooted in feline evolution.
If you care about reducing cat stress, strengthening your bond, and understanding feline emotional language, this video will give you the scientific framework most people miss.
Cats are subtle, not cold. Once you learn how cats apologize and how feline body language works during tension, you’ll never misinterpret your cat’s behavior again.
Watch until the end - because number 10 completely reframes what most owners think is arrogance.

Now I feel bad for not seeing the signs of my cat apologizing when I don't have a cat...
Then U’re already ahead of the game.😅👍
@Meowtopia-k8zI hope so
I’m pretty sure U are. The day a cat chooses U, you’ll already know how to read some of their signals.😉
Don't worry, the Cat Distribution System will pick you one day!
😂
This means a lot because I'm sick and I can see how hard my cat is trying to be there for me.
Some cats don’t leave when U’re struggling, they get closer. And when U’re sick, that kind of steady presence can mean more than most people understand.🤗🙏😻💖💖💖
I had a cat that preferred to be in the room with everyone but just out of reach. I developed an abscessed tooth and the abscess burst. (Worse pain than childbirth and kidney stones!). My cat decided she belonged glued to my lap and purring. She also wanted to be on my stomach immediately after abdominal surgery. Unfortunately, when I got to the bottom of my allergies, the worst one was cats. 😢
They often know exactly when to get closer. I am really sorry the allergy made that bond even more painful.😔😿
Aww that's a lovely story , my cats all went on my mum's bed like a vigil when she was very poorly and then ended up in hospital and passed. I think they new she was very very unwell, more so than the doctors before they did their analysis!
Sorry that you have a cat allergy though.
That must be rather heartbreaking. ❤
@tessalynne6778 Their purrs are noted as being at a healing frequency. So, sometimes when cats purr, they are healing themselves or others. In many ways they are much more advanced than humans.
Slow eye blink.
We had to escape the heat one day in my EV. A/C blasting cat out of the carrier and my feet up and relaxed. She was stressed until I slow blinked at her. Then she curled up and relaxed. It was such a dramatic change in behavior. I was so glad I experimented with a slow blink.
This is exactly why I keep saying slow blinking is not fluff, it is communication. She was stressed, U answered in a way she could actually understand, and her whole body responded. Moments like this show just how much calmer cats can become when we meet them in their own language. 😁😺💖💖💖
They really are looking at you for social cues many times.
It's crazy I've tried this on random cats I see in the neighborhood and they go from fear to curiosity immediately.
The slow blink is truly incredible! It can calm my cat down when she’s high energy and make her go to sleep - I lowkey feel manipulative sometimes😅🫣
When you slow blink a cat and it slow blinks back...you have an apex predator on your side for life.
I really want my cats to have the best life possible.
Honestly, that’s the most important thing. Love, attention, and feeling safe with U already means a lot for a cat.💖😃😻
Me too
Why, don't we all? They are our little furry bundles of joy! Each and everybody with their own different temperament, yet they actively bring a manifest improvement in our personal or family lives, don't they?
Educating yourself about them will help to make that possible.
Mine do! 😸
I love how this video explains cat behavior without blaming them. Cats aren't cold or distant-they just speak a completely different emotional language than we do.
I’m really glad that came through.🙏🙏🙏🤗💕💕💕 That was the whole point, to understand them a little better instead of judging them through a human lens. They may not express emotion the way we do, but that doesn’t make it any less real.😻
Yes it's very human of us to judge them by human communication standards. They have very complex methods of communicating. Humans are bad at recognizing that other humans have differences, much less other species.
hmm, maybe i'm a cat whisperer then XD
I love how all of the top comments all have the "--" syntax and the "not this... but that" sentence structure. AI slop channel for an AI audience I guess 🤣
@questioneverything8572 Bro i didnt even realized 😢
I'm proud to have worked with a Vet that had vast experience with cats. She always said, look at the entire cat, and they will tell you what they need. I was front end but during surgery hours we had no traffic and I got to help with the cats (sick or after surgery). The sickest cats were always placed at chest level and my job was to "cradle cats" in warm towels by just opening the door and wrapping an arm around them and towel, gently slide them so they were up against my chest and just hold them quietly (no picking up or changing their position). Sometimes they needed more in a strange place than just an IV and a warm towel. I found the purring these sick cats did was so different from one just waking up from surgery or just in for check ups. Dr. said that relieving pain, a safe warm space and the self soothing purr are the most important factors in healing for cats.
That’s a fantastic testimony. Moments like the ones you described show how much cats benefit from warmth, quiet presence, and feeling safe. Sometimes healing for cats isn’t just medicine, but also comfort, safety, and the calming rhythm of their own purring. 🙏🙏🙏🤗😸💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I want that job. I miss cats so bad.
If only we humans were the same way.
Special frequencies.
They really do heal themselves. It’s amazing!
I would never yell or be angry at my cat,That"s what I dealt with my whole childhood, nothing good comes from that.
I understand U very well. I went through something similar myself, so I know exactly what U mean. When U grow up around anger, U realize how much better calm and patience work.🙏🙏🙏👍💕💕💕
@Meowtopia-k8z
100% agree
🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
Snap I've dealt with that all my life... for that reason I like cats more than people
I hear U. And honestly, ninety-nine percent of the time I feel the same, I prefer cats over certain people.😅😸💖
If you seriously think your pet does something out of spite, please don't own a pet...
Exactly,👍 pets don’t think like that. They act based on what works, what they feel, and what they’ve learned from patterns. If someone thinks it’s “spite,” they usually miss the real cause, like anxiety, overstimulation, or a simple environmental issue.
😂😂😂i dunno.
Yeah its still done out of love , just how little children can learn to do something crazy/out of place , just to get the attention of the adults.
Its out of (need for) love and not out of spite
Cats are truly one of the best things that can happen to you - the most loyal little soulmates. ❤🐾
I couldn’t agree more.👍😉 Cats have a quiet way of becoming part of your life until one day U realize they’re part of your heart too.🤗💖💖💖💖💖😻
Apparently, if you die, it only takes about 20 minutes before they will start to eat your body 😂
@officialWWMhaha, when they run out of food and start starving as a result of not being fed any longer. But you know what else will do that in that scenario? A dog, and any other possible pet that exists. And even people in desperate situations. Seriously doubt it's a cat thing.
@officialWWMmeme bullshit
What if this wasn't AI-narrated? Loser
It's actually really nice when a cat sits at a distance but want's to share blinks with you, total trust but happy where they are. When I was much younger, I taught our cat to wink. We'd been blinking back at eachother from maybe one end of the room to about halfway where he was on top of the sofa, so I winked at Charlie, and after a while, he winked back, then we kept doing it for a few hours, and yes we did change eyes, and he was so comfortable with that, he did too. I've never met a bad cat, but Charlie was lovely, a little tabby.
He got a bit intimidated by a big muscular ginger tom who used to treat our back yard as his territory, but they became friends, eventually, I don't think big Ginge thought of Charlie as competition, but maybe after a few years as a little brother? Maybe
What U’re describing is exactly why slow blinking matters: it’s a peaceful signal, and when U answer back, it becomes a little trust loop between U two.🤗💓😻💖💖💖💖💖
Cats learn through patterns. If Big Ginge kept meeting Charlie in the yard and each time it ended with no fight, no loss of territory, no stress, his brain basically filed Charlie as “safe.” Then familiarity can replace suspicion. The “little brother” feeling can happen when the bigger cat stays confident and the smaller one stays respectful, so the relationship becomes stable instead of competitive.👍😺😸🙏
Male tabby cats are the most loving. My Big Fella looked at me in a way that people said he knew me in another life.
I’m with U. No matter the coat pattern, when they hit U with those big eyes, U’re done.😻
I always thought my cat was being 'sassy' by turning his back after a scold. 🤦♂ Turns out he was just screaming 'TRUCE' in cat language! Mind blown. We really don't deserve these subtle masterpieces.
U described it perfectly: TRUCE. Cats are masters at de-escalation, they’d rather avoid conflict than “win” it. Turning away, blinking slowly, sitting nearby, it’s all their way of saying: can we be good again. Once U start reading it, everything looks different.😻🙏😁
Indeed❤!I'm awhisperer. First came the States didn't speak English, had a British tutor,so I spoke the King's English. My mom got me a kitten so I had a friend. Best gift I ever got! Ty Mama missyou❤.
No wonder U feel like a cat whisperer after a beginning like that. A bond born from loneliness, change, and love tends to stay very deep. Your mom gave U a truly unforgettable gift.🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I love cats, especially my “Bear-Bear”
Sounds like he completely owns your heart.🤗😻🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕
I don't scold my cat or get angry with her, I don't want to create fear or mistrust. If she's doing something I'd rather she didn't I gently correct her. She usually only needs a little reminder, just an 'uh' or 'excuse me', if she persists I use a sharp pssst sound. As soon as she stops what she's doing, I praise her.
That sounds like exactly the kind of calm guidance cats respond well to. U’re not creating fear, U’re creating clarity. And praising her the moment she stops is such an important part, because that helps her understand what actually works instead of just what to avoid.👍😉😻
😂
She has trained you well
Same. I hate when people yell at their pets and swear. I don't think it's possible for my cat to make me feel angry. Even when he's annoying in the middle of the night 😆
I find that when I "purr" by rolling the letter r, they act very surprised the first time as if to say, "What? You can purr, too?"
That is such a cat moment. I can almost hear them thinking excuse me, why are U suddenly bilingual. No wonder they look surprised, U probably sound just familiar enough to confuse them in the funniest way.🙀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think of the song "Prisencolinensinainciusol" when I 'speak' to my kittehs. It's sound alright but they gotta be going, huh 🧐
Once I've learned how to purr (sounds like a cat's but doesn't work the same way) I finally tried it out with my outdoor cat. The immediate familarity and joy he gave off was so wholesome, as he purred back.
@Palackoslekvár That is wonderful. I can almost see his joy as he thought, "She loves me, too."
Cats are the best that can ever happen to you. The only true soulmate ❤
They just show up in your life, slowly become part of your daily world, and before U know it, U can’t imagine life without them. They don’t pretend, they simply choose to be close to U.🥰😻💖💕💖💕💖💕
I love cats🤗
Two days ago, i stepped badly on my cat. He was in my moms room half a day doing nothing but sleeping. Half a day later he came to me and meowed. I was so relieved. He rarely comes to me like that.
Accidents happen, but it still feels horrible.😥 When they disappear after an accident, your brain goes to the worst place. The fact he came to U later is a really good sign, and also kind of special since U said he doesn’t usually do that. Give him calm, space, and gentle attention when he asks for it.😻👍
You should have apologized to him first.
@lifespanwellnessbeauty-60i64I did not that that's any of your business
I’m sure there was no bad intention here. Accidents happen, and what matters most is that the cat came back and seems okay. That part is the real relief.🙏🙏🙏
@lifespanwellnessbeauty-60i64 Yes, you're right. Same thing happened to me. He screamed so loud, grabbed my leg... claws out and all and ran under the table 😢
I was in shock. I bent down and kept calling him gently cos he was also confused and scared, so I picked him up gave him hugs and cuddles told him I was sorry. He looked away, blinked slowly and started licking his lips. I guess he understood I didn't mean any harm and we're friends again. He's such a sweet boy 😅
I walked in between my mother's cat and my cat when they were fighting. Stepped right in as my boy launched himself from his seat with his mouth wide open. His mouth ... and teeth connected with my elbow. I saw stars. All I could do was sit down shaking the shock off when I felt something on my fingers. My arm was hanging down and Miso was gently licking my fingers. I knew he was apologizing. Scooped him right up and gave him kisses. He was such a good boy. I lost him April 3, 2023 :( RIP Miso. Mommy loves you.
That is actually a pretty strong example. In the middle of all that chaos, he came back quietly and made contact in the gentlest way he could. Call it apology or not, that moment clearly meant something. RIP Miso 😢🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕
When I moved to a new house with my cats after a life-changing trauma, one cat started peeing on the carpet. It shook me. I yelled at her. She did all the behaviors in this video. I just calmed down and she forgave me, thankfully.
Situations like that can shake anyone. The good part is that your cat still tried to reconnect with U. That’s how strong bonds with cats usually work.
Just an idea that might help.
I use to fuss at my cat, Riley, when she clawed my new sofa. One day I didn't fuss. I looked at her and said ..Riley please stop.... she looked straight at me and stopped. She has never tried to scratch my couch since.
Cats are so amazing at what they understand. I believe they understand us better than we understand them😻😻.
I love my cats❣️❣️
This is exactly why I think calm communication goes so much further with cats. Riley did not need a fight, she needed a clear signal. And yes, cats can be amazing at reading us, sometimes so well it is almost unsettling.👍😉😺💕💕💕
I have had cats my whole life. Currently have 3. We don't have conflicts, no aggression, no shouting. I understand my cats, and they me. We don't even have to "talk", we get along.
I love how U said that: we don’t even have to talk. That’s exactly it, cats read tone, timing, and body language, and when U read them back, life gets peaceful.👍😉🤗😁😺😸😻💖💖💖
Me too 😂 I have 3 cats & we understand each other pretty much all the time ❤
When U stop forcing things and start reading their signals, everything gets peaceful. And the foundation is exactly what U’re doing: respect, plus the freedom for them to decide when to come closer.👍
Same. I am never angry even if they knock something over
My two cats have definitely shown me how to have a peaceful life. We are family and the respect goes both ways. ❤
I love this. Cats are quiet teachers, they show U patience, boundaries, and how to slow down. And U said it perfectly: respect both ways. People think cats are distant, but they’re actually huge on consent and peace. When U meet them on that level, the bond feels completely different, and they bring so much balance to daily life.😉👍😺😸💕💕💕
I don't remember having to scold my last cat, he was perfect to me and always will be.
Not even one object pushed off the table?
Golden rule. Never, ever get mad at your cat.
Couldn’t agree more. Cats respond much better to patience, calm energy, and consistency than anger.👍
I agree. And no punishments. Punishments mean a guaranteed loss of your cat's trust, and that's permanent.
I think mine is possessed
My cat drew blood on my arm out of nowhere, I get to raise my voice dummy
Yes, and your cat will be naughtier and naughtier soon. Discipline is key.
If I have to tell my cat “no” about something he did, he will immediately look at me, meow and then run towards me and stop at my feet, roll over on his belly and reach his paws out to grab my feet and rubs his head against my feet. It’s his way of apologizing I guess, but I can never stay upset with him for more than a moment anyways. In that moment all I can do is laugh and get somewhere we can cuddle together. He’s my baby and we just move past it. I was there when he was born. I actually had a different kitten picked out to keep, but he chose me and I changed my decision and kept him. When all the other kittens went outside, he would look at them and then stay inside with me. He always stays close to me and he loves to groom me. I’m his human mama and he has my heart. ❤
This is why people who love cats understand these moments instantly.😅😂😂😂😂😂😂🤗😸💖💖💖 Maybe everyone uses different words for it, but when a cat looks at U, comes right back, rubs against U, and wants closeness again, it is hard not to feel the love in that. He clearly decided a long time ago that U are his person.😻💖💖💖
I couldn’t live without cats! Petting my little monster while watching a film is the quickest and most natural remedy for anxiety, and the perfect way to unwind after a bad day at uni \ work.
The same goes for mood: even when I’ve been heartbroken or genuinely down for x reason, their cheekiness and spontaneous oddities have never failed to make me smile. They are both best mates and family ❤
Cats have that rare gift of bringing comfort without forcing anything. One minute U are stressed, heartbroken, or exhausted, and the next they do something ridiculous and suddenly the whole day feels lighter. Someone once wrote in the comments that cats are basically our little roommates, and honestly I love that idea too. Best mates, family… and sometimes the funniest roommates we could ever have.😁😺😂😂😂
=^.^=
😺🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
It seems to me that cats generally appreciate a head scratch when they "offer/expose their stomach", does anyone else have the same experience?
For many cats, the belly is something they may show without necessarily wanting it touched, while the head is a much safer and more welcome place for affection. So a head scratch can feel like the perfect answer to that kind of moment. And honestly, a lot of them do not mind little cheek massages either.😁😻💕💕💕💕💕
I feel very lucky that I have one cat who absolutely loooves a belly rub. He’s a long hair tuxedo cat and is so soft and he’ll roll around. My tabby on the other hand will flop down, show her belly, but don’t touch!
We shouldn’t scold, but redirect the ‘bad behavior’ and never hit.
Exactly. Calm redirect, clear boundaries, and consistency. Hitting just creates fear and breaks trust, it doesn’t teach the lesson people think it does.👍💖😻
many years ago my cat killed my family of gerbils ......when i walk in and saw him next to the remains ....he had the.. oh no.. look on his face ..it took me awhile but he and i made friends again and i loved him ...RIP Mort
I can only imagine how shocking that scene was to walk into.😢🙏🙏🙏 And that “oh no” look fits something I explain in the video: cats don’t do guilt like humans, but they’re incredible at reading our tension. When the room suddenly shifts, they often go still, look away, or avoid eye contact as a calming signal, basically a feline way of saying truce and I don’t want conflict.🙏🙏🙏💕
I get that some people like more than one type of pet, but probably not a good idea to have rodents. Too tempting. Cats hunt birds and rodents instinctively.
RIP the unfortunate gerbils too.
I remember when my cat accidentally broke my Coffee press. I wasn't angry or upset about it, I was more concerned for him. It was made of glass, and I didn't want him to hurt himself, so I just scooped him up, cuddled him and moved him to the living room. I gave him a few treats while I cleaned up the mess.
I really love the way U handled that. U removed the fear from the moment before he even had the chance to feel it. Glass can be replaced, but that sense of safety U gave him is the kind of trust people spend years building.🙏👍😉😻
Weighted blankets make me more anxious, and my Cat picked up on me getting more anxious when Something heavy is on my chest.
She was feral, and now
She comes and lay down on my head, and bops noses and gives nibble kisses, and spreads out on her back.
We just chill out together.
That’s such a real example of why cats respond to our state, not our words. She figured out what helps U feel calmer and she chose that instead. And it’s worth saying: with feral cats, this level of connection doesn’t happen automatically, it’s earned with time and patience. A former feral choosing head snuggles and belly-up relaxation is a massive compliment. U earned that.👍😉😻💕
@Meowtopia-k8zagreed. She is well loved, but she also enjoys her alone time on her cat tree during the evening. We always let her choose when to be held or petted.
That’s real respect, and cats respond to it immediately. Giving her a safe perch for quiet time and then letting her initiate cuddles is basically the best combo U can offer. It’s how “independent” cats become affectionate without feeling pressured.
My cat was eating a large, tough treat once, and accidentally bit through my thumbnail. As soon as I tensed up and made a pained noise, she froze and let go. It was obvious that she'd never meant to bite. I did the usual thing of stepping away, then coming back and prompting her to be gentle. Ever since, she's been so careful. Even if she's impatient for a treat, at most, she'll close her mouth around my fingers and carefully extract it before biting down. She's such a good, sweet girl!
Accidents happen, but the fact that she stopped immediately and has been more careful ever since makes it pretty clear she never meant to hurt U.😅😁🙏🐱💕💕💕
They know when you're upset about sth and try to comfort you. Such wonderful animals.
Exactly, and that is part of what makes them so wonderful. They do not always comfort in obvious ways, but they often show up right when U need them most.🤗😻
Yes indeed my kitty cat 😺 knows when I'm feeling down and when I'm not feeling good she comes and sits on my legs and lap.
That’s one of the most beautiful things about cats. They often notice when something isn’t right long before anyone else does. Sitting on your lap like that is their way of giving comfort without needing words.🤗😻💖💖💖💖💖
Yes, my cat gets all anxious when im having a loud vocal pain episode ( cancer and MS). She starts meowing and trying to smother me, perhaps to shut me up so she can watch her RUclips videos😂
My cat won't apologise for anything , she owns the house and me
U’ve been officially adopted, that’s what it is.😂😁😼 She owns the house, the schedule, and your attention. And if she ever “apologizes,” it’ll be in cat form: sitting near U, soft eyes, slow blinks, and suddenly acting nicer than usual.😻💕💕💕
U R wise.😸
🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖Thank U, that means a lot. But truthfully, some of the best wisdom shows up in the comments from this community, especially when people share their own experiences.👍🤗
These comments are vibes gentle parenting, I'm so perfect. My cats a jerk and will still apologize. He beefs w/ everything simply bc he can... Looking at anything like that's cute u thought u could just stay there like that. Don't think I won't knock u over. My cat to any random object ever sitting on a shelf. He still has his soft moments! Just walked into the room too.
So, I’m NOT supposed to bury my face in her furry belly ??
In peaceful cuddle mode, maybe. After stress or scolding, no. That’s the big misunderstanding the video talks about: same belly, very different meaning depending on the moment. And yes, I know, it’s hard to resist.😅🤗😂😂😂😻
I try to give off submissive kitten vibe to my young cat, lol. He's like ugh, k bye. The h do I look like to u? Yo momma? & Then he takes off
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Sometimes U try to meet them in their world and they just look at U like absolutely not, I have plans.
At 69 years old and always had a cat in my house. I've learned a lot about cat behaviour from my own observations. This narrative is spot on ❤😊.
That means a lot,🙏🙏🙏🤗 especially coming from someone with a lifetime of living with cats. I always think the best feedback is when experienced cat people say this matches what they have seen with their own eyes.🙏🙏🙏🤗💕💕💕😻
Golden rule: I'm always mad at my cat
It’s impossible to stay mad when those big eyes show up.😁😻
Cats can read our minds. I communicate telepathically with mine.
Honestly, after living with cats for a while, I understand why U say that. Sometimes they show up at the exact moment U were just thinking about them and it feels a little too accurate to be coincidence.😂😂😂😂😂😸💗💗💗
This is true. Sometimes when I can not fall asleep I try to send a mental message to my cat. Usually, I hear her little bell and feel her jump on the bed a few minutes later. Who knows?
the feral tom who eats at my back door, gives me the slow blink, but will not come close enough to touch.
That’s the perfect example of “trust without closeness.” He’s basically saying: I respect U, I’m calm with U, but I need space. If U want to help him feel braver, sit sideways, keep your hands still, and let him be the one to close the gap. Over time, many ferals will come a little closer, especially if nothing scary ever happens.😉👍
I have a feral one that was obviously a TNR, it took 16 months of feeding him before he allowed me to touch him. Now he comes to me every morning, I stand there talk to him and let him come to me. He rubs around my legs while I pet him and stroke him and talk to him. That interaction goes on for maybe a couple of minutes or more. He absolutely wanted to be stroked and loved it was a just case of gaining his trust. Yours will eventually do the same.
One came in stealing my cats food. So I got more food and fed them both. He was giving me slow blink after stopping to run away but this went on for 3 years until I could touch him for the first time. Now hes still a bit like easily to frighten but when I call him gently he stops and comes back and I can cautiously pet his head.
Yet.
Our kitty came to our back door for several weeks, and since I would never turn an animal away from food, I always fed her. One day, she came to the front door and into the house. Being "great with child," she presented my wife with seven babies that night! We had shown her our trust & love. She loves my wife (her mommy, I guess), but I think I represent a fear factor from where she came, so it's taking longer for her to be close to me. I'm still working to understand her.
Never spray your cat in the face.
Completely agree. And honestly, it’s not just “don’t spray the face”, it’s don’t spray at all. It teaches fear and mistrust, not understanding. Calm guidance and redirecting works so much better.😉👍
@Meowtopia-k8z I always found distraction a great training method as well. Get the cat doing something fun.
Couldn’t agree more. Cats respond to what’s rewarding, so making the fun option easy is the best “training” there is.
My TJ apologizes by flirting outrageously! Immediately after something falls on the ground. Or he knows he’s done something wrong. It’s hilarious. He lays down on the table reaches out to me rolls around and literally FLIRTS! Like “really you can’t be mad at me. Look how cute I am!”
That is hilarious. That dramatic flirting routine sounds like his personal emergency charm attack. The reaching out, rolling around, and flirting right after chaos is such classic cat logic. It’s like his way of saying let’s move on… and also please remember that I’m adorable.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Than your reaction to his “wrongdoing” scare him cause the so called flirting is submission… he does not understand he did anything wrong, he has no human standart for what is right or wrong.
Cats do not think in terms of human guilt. That’s why I find them so interesting. What looks like flirting, submission, avoidance, or softness after conflict is not a moral confession, but it can still be a very real attempt to calm the moment and restore safety between cat and human.
Since my husband passed away last year, my temper has been so short, and I accidentally yelled at his 12 year old rescue, Oliver, for knocking over a glass. I felt so awful. A few minutes later, Oliver came over, climbed onto my lap, and started intensely purring while gently licking my hand. I thought he just wanted food. Hearing that his purr frequency is actually meant to heal tissue and lower both of our heart rates, and that licking me is a ritual to wash away the conflict and release endorphins, brings me to absolute tears. He is healing my broken heart and my stress all at once.
🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕I am very sorry for your loss. It really sounds like Oliver responded to your pain, not just the moment. Cats can be incredibly quiet healers, and what he gave U there was more than affection, it was reassurance, closeness, and a kind of emotional rescue when U needed it most.🙏😻
11:20 mine must be broken ... they get pissy if the belly doesn't get pats.
That’s actually the funny part with cats. One cat says don’t touch the belly, another acts offended if U don’t. That’s why I always say the cat matters, the mood matters, and the timing matters.😁😻💕💕💕
Is this after an argument?
Those are the best helpful hints I think I've ever seen! And you're right, we get it wrong more often than we get it right!
WELL DONE AND THANK YOU FOR THE HELP!!
Thank U so much, I really appreciate that.🙏🙏🙏🤗💗💗💗😸 The funny part is we usually mean well, but cats speak in such subtle ways that it is easy to get things wrong. I’m glad this gave U something helpful to take away.
Cats are heroes . I love good cat owners . Good cat owners are the best people .
When a cat chooses U, it really is a big privilege. They see something deep in people, and that kind of trust never feels small.🤗😸💕💕💕
Agreed!
Cats are just simply fantastic because they are cats.
Honestly, that sums them up perfectly.😅🤣🤣🤣👍😼💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
When I'm anxious, my cat will signal (yell) and circle me until I sit down so she can lie down on me.
Also, scolding your cat is pointless. A quick "Ow!" or "No" followed by disengaging for about thirty seconds allows you to express that you won't accept whatever thing just happened without escalating the situation. Though I usually cave in about half that time, because my cat will try so hard to get my attention. She's always extra gentle after accidentally nipping me; it's clear she meant no harm & she cares.
I really like how U explained this. A lot of people think the answer is to scold more, when with cats it usually works better to make the boundary clear and then lower the tension again. And what U said about her being extra gentle after accidentally hurting U is exactly the kind of thing people miss when they call cats cold.👍👍👍
Love the calm way this is explained, and I have always since a child done the blink thing when I did not even know what it meant. I just accutely noticed that they seem to do it back again and in my young mind (6 years old), I thought it was a way to be a little like Dr Dolittle. Now as an adult, friends call me Dr Dolittle. 😂
I would add that if a cat shows you it's belly, just talk sweetly and calmly to it, even get down closer to the floor beside it whilst doing it, and watch as they then react to the soft talk, just don't ever rub their tummy!
Unlike a lot of dogs they don't like it at all.
Thank you for your fab cat videos. I've subscribed.❤🎉
This is such a lovely comment. The little Dr Dolittle part made me smile, but it also makes sense, because some people really do notice cat language long before they have words for it. And your point about the belly is a very good one. Soft voice, calm presence, and letting the cat stay in control usually goes much better than assuming every exposed belly is an invitation. Thank U for this, and thank U for subscribing.🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖💖💖🤗😻
Cats point.. :
"I am sorry" ❌️
"i am waiting for you to say sorry"✅️
That honestly sounds a lot more like cat logic.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
Women love cats because their communication methods are just as counter intuitive (and counterproductive) as their own.
I disagree with you and you gonna sleep on the couch until you figure out what you did wrong
Let’s call a truce and agree on one thing: cats confuse everybody equally. That might be the most inclusive thing about them.😅🙏😼
Thanks for these videos. I love my 2 cats- and every other cat- SO much. We always do the slow blink, and when they want to rub a face on me, I give them my face and we do it to each other.
Those small rituals like slow blinking and face rubbing are powerful ways cats show affection and trust. Making them feel important and part of daily life really strengthens the bond. After all, they are our roommates.😁😸😺💖💖💖💖💖😉👍
I've learned with my Ginger cat who showed up out of the blue one day, that when he shows his belly, to NEVER try to rub him. Videos like this have helped me understand he's just testing me or showing his vulnerability. He trusts me and is so much more relaxed when I know what this is.
U learned to respect what that moment means for him, and cats really do notice that. He probably feels safer because of it. Still, I know it is unbelievably hard to resist when they show the belly 😅😁
Cats don't say sorry, they don't understand the concept of doing anything wrong. That's why I never get angry with my two. They are cats, not naughty people.
I agree that cats aren’t “naughty” and don’t feel guilt like humans. The video uses the word apology in a more behavioral sense. Many cats respond to tension by using calming signals - avoiding eye contact, slow blinking, staying nearby, or rubbing scent on you - which are natural ways to repair social harmony.
11:47 unless they’re a Ragdoll, mine LOVED belly rubs and arm pit scratches
A lot of cats are absolutely into belly rubs when they’re relaxed and in the mood. I wasn’t saying no cat likes it, just that context changes everything, especially right after a stressful moment.
My cat loves belly rubs too. It's actually his favourite spot to be petted. He often falls asleep against my side with my hand on his belly (his head facing my feet)
fantastic upload
thanks
Everyone who has never owned a cat before, a first-time owner, should watch this and take note
I’m glad U said that,🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗👍😁😻💖💖💖💖💖 because new owners often misread cats at the start, and a few small adjustments can change everything. These videos are made for that exact purpose too.🙏😉
The skinny little light/white cat, right before sign 6, is such an angel-eyed baby. Little sweetie.
I know exactly which one U mean, the white one with the green eyes, right? That little one had such a soft angel face, totally the kind of cat that steals the scene for two seconds and stays in your head the whole video.😁😉
I had a cat growing up. It was so spoiled. And had a real personality. I didn't know about the slow blink young.
A lot of us learned these things later. Back then we just loved our cats without knowing all the signals. The slow blink is one of those things many people discover years later.👍😉😻
I've always been able to read cat body language naturally. Not sure why some people can't seem to pick up on this stuff naturally, but they're usually the people that don't think very highly of cats.
A lot of people expect cats to communicate in a louder or more obvious way, and that throws them off. And many of them are just new to cats, so they’re still learning what to look for.
Love is not having to say I'm sorry.
They don’t over-explain, they just show U with actions: I’m still here, we’re good, let’s move on. That’s a pretty pure kind of love.💖😻
Respectfully, I disagree. Since humans are not telepathic or omniscient, we occasionally do or say hurtful or insensitive things. The correct response to this situation is always to apologize. Gifts are nice, but having to say that you're sorry in code is pretty immature. Say it AND give the gift. But always say you're sorry when you have hurt the ones you love.😊
Respectfully, I think we’re talking about two different worlds. For people, yes, say it clearly. For cats, actions are the only language they have for repair. The whole idea of the video is that what looks random or distant to us can actually be a feline peace offering. So I’d say U’re right about humans, and the video is right about cats.
Yes, “Love Story” was inspired by cats.😻
😂😁👍💖💖💖
I don't know, each time I shout at my cat, I regret it and feel sorry and when she looks at me my heart melts and I am always the one who say I am sorry, ☺LOL
U’re not alone. Sometimes we’re not mad at the cat, we’re mad at the day, and the cat is just… there. Cats don’t need a big speech, they just need the vibe to calm down again. So your “sorry” plus a softer voice and a redirect is basically the perfect fix. 😥🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😺
Not all cats. My tabby loves belly rubs. If she lies on her side on her hammock and I walk by without giving her a belly rub, she complains until I come back. Only cat I’ve ever had who does this.
That’s the funny thing about cats. There are patterns, but every single one still writes their own rulebook. If she complains until U come back, she clearly trained U very well.🤗💖💖💖😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love how this video explains cat behavior without blaming them
That was exactly the goal, to help people understand cats better without turning every behavior into something negative or unfair.
I don’t think I’ve ever yelled or been mad at my cats. It’s not like they have malice in what they are doing. Makes me sad that they have to see if their owners are mad at them.
That’s exactly the hard part, most cats are not acting out of malice, they’re just being cats. I think the saddest thing is that so many of their peace-making signals get misunderstood when they were only trying to make the moment feel safe again.🙏😻💕💕💕
This is the deepest explanation for some misunderstood cat behavior. I also feel identified with cats’ personality and also being misunderstood 😢
That’s actually a beautiful way to see it. I think that’s why so many people connect deeply with cats. They get misunderstood all the time because their language is so subtle. What looks like distance or coldness is often just their quiet way of reducing tension and protecting the bond.🤗💕😸
I did have a cat named Grayson. He was so amazing. Any person that came to my house was met by Grayson. He would lay down on the floor near the front door. He always did this belly up, waving his tail. He would not move until my visitor rubbed his belly. I have always had cats in my life. I have never seen another cat do what Grayson did. He was so loving and I miss him to this day. I think he had decided that he owned the company instead of me. All my friends loved him too. He truly was a great character. 😍😍😍
There is something deeply moving about cats with that much personality. Grayson was not just affectionate, he sounds unforgettable. The fact that every guest had to go through his little front-door ceremony says everything. He had his own rules, his own charm, and clearly his own place in everybody’s heart. And the truth is, cats like that are genuinely rare. U do not forget them. 🤗💖💖💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏
@Meowtopia-k8zI will never forget him. Sometimes I still tear up missing him.
I will see him in heaven, because God promises no disappointments in Heaven ❤
Thank you for your comment ❤❤
That is such a tender way to put it, and I think anyone who has loved a cat like that understands.🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
The purring and healing thing definitely makes sense to me! There is a stray in the neighborhood who broke one of his legs, and he got a really bad fever and infection from it and we thought he might die, but my roommate sat with him in his lap, comforting and petting him every evening for several weeks. Now, that cat gets around better than any of the others. Besides a slight limp, you wouldn't even know he was injured. He's a happy little guy. My roommate named him Beauford, but I call him Boo Boo. He loves to be held and cuddled.
Maybe it is not magic, but care, calm, touch, and feeling safe can clearly change a lot. Sometimes being held, soothed, and cared for every day makes a bigger difference than people realize. 🤗💖💖💖💖💖😺🙏🙏🙏
the "exposed belly" ... my cat actually doesn't mind being stroked although with care as much as one would stroke his back. Yes, he only allows a few family members to do so. We are very 'honoured' to be a part of our cat's life. Very informative video, much of it already 'learned' along with our cats past and present. Thank you. Cheers from Australia.
Yes, that makes perfect sense. The exposed belly is not always a no, it is just not an automatic yes with every cat. In your case it sounds like he allows it because it is done gently, respectfully, and by people he deeply trusts. I really appreciate the thoughtful comment, especially from someone who has clearly learned so much by living closely with cats. And I am pretty sure the little star in question must be that gorgeous cat in the profile photo. Cheers from this side to Australia.🙏🙏🙏👋😉
Cats: What a crock of sh*t. We are not sorry!!
Honestly, this feels like the most believable cat statement ever. They would never call it apologizing, but they would absolutely stroll back in like nothing happened and expect U to move on.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😼
My little Pumpkin loves to rest on my lap. She "always" seeks permission first. Once she knows she's welcomed, she joins me. Softly chattering. Expressing her happiness. She Instantly positions herself on my lap & starts to purring. Other times, she will be resting on the top of the couch when she decides to join me. I feel her step on my shoulder & gingerly walk down my arm as she presses her body against my neck & face purring. She's a Sweetheart.
I love that she seems to ask first, then melts into U once she knows she is welcome. Cats like that know exactly how loved they are, and how to make U feel it too.😺💕💕💕🤗
years ago, my first cat knocked over my favorite lamp. I yelled, and he just turned his back and stared at the wall. I always thought he was just being a stubborn, arrogant teenager ignoring me. Knowing now that he was actually trying to de-escalate the tension and say 'I'm sorry, I don't want to fight'... I just sat here and cried. I wish I could go back in time and just hug him. Please listen to this video so you don't make the same heartbreaking mistakes I did.
So many of us thought we understood our cats in those moments, and only later realized they were being far softer than we knew. He was loved, and I’m sure he felt that love in a thousand quiet moments U shared together. I don’t think one moment of frustration could ever erase a lifetime of love.🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕
Cats are so cute how can you be mad at them?
I think every cat owner has asked that question at some point.😅🤗🤗🤗One second U’re frustrated, the next they come close, blink slowly or sit near U, and the tension just disappears. That’s part of their magic.😻💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
My cats love belly rubs, though.
Lucky U. Most cats don’t actually enjoy belly rubs, they treat the belly like a “look, don’t touch” zone. So if yours love it, it’s a big trust sign and it might also be that your touch is light and pleasant, not rough or pushy.😉👍😺😼
@Meowtopia-k8z yes we have them since they are kittens so they view us as their 2-legged parents i think 😊
Raising them from kitten age creates a very deep bond, because they learn early that U are the source of care, protection, and comfort. That kind of trust often makes them much more relaxed with things like belly rubs too.😺😺💖💖💖💖💖And the one in your profile has such big curious eyes too. 😁😂😂😻
@Meowtopia-k8z ❤ yes very perceptive - that’s my cat Boogey which passed away a few years ago.
😢🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
My cat doesn't like to be held. You pick her up and after 10 secs or so she wants to get away. I got her when she was 3. And she is 10 now. When she was young she was not treated well. She is a beautiful ragdoll. She sits next to me and sleeps next to me but with space between us. I am always getting head butts. Lov3bher to piece just wish she would let me hold her. When I first got her she would bite or scratch.
Honestly, the fact that she sleeps next to U, stays close, and gives U head butts already says a lot. Some cats with a rough past never become lap or holding cats, but they still love deeply in the ways that feel safe to them.💖💖💖😻
Oh my God. They are perfect.
Agreed. Flaws and all, they still manage to be perfect.😅😁🤗😺💖💖💖
A friend of mine rescued a Russian Blue cat who had a horrific past knew that I had been wanting a cat and asked if I would like to adopt him - yes! He may have had a bad case of kitty PTSD - I would talk to him and respected his space. The absolute best moment was when he hopped onto the couch where I was sitting and sat down, cautiously reaching a paw out to touch my leg. Best. Gift. Ever. We now fight over the electric blanket in winter and push each other out of the way of the air conditioner in the summer. We have been together now for 9 years, hoping for many more. He is now lord of the manor and makes sure that I don't forget it lol. 🥰😻💖💖💖
That first paw matters more than people think. With cats like that, trust is slow and very easy to ruin, so the fact he chose contact says U handled him really well from the start. Not flashy, just solid, patient work done right.👍😉😻💕💕💕🤗
Pfft. When my cat was mad at me he would turn his back on me. Then he’d peek around to see if I could see him and look away again. Funniest thing ever and super cute and endearing. He definitely did it when he was annoyed or mad at me too, not as an apology.
I’ve had a cat hurt me accidentally though and afterwards, even though I wasn’t angry, it was clear my cat felt bad. He got very droopy and wanted to cuddle me gently for a bit.
That is actually such a perfect example of both sides of cat behavior. The turning away and peeking sounds exactly like that funny offended cat attitude,😼 but that second part really stands out too. When they go soft, droopy, and extra gentle after accidentally hurting U, that is the kind of bond-repair behavior a lot of people miss.😸🙏🙏🙏😁
Wild how a cat’s “sorry” isn’t obvious at all, but hidden in all these quiet little gestures we usually miss.
Yes, exactly. People often judge cats by dog rules, and that is where the confusion starts. Cats are not cold, they just do not communicate in big obvious ways, so their affection is easy to miss if U are looking for dog style behavior.
I always enjoy watching your informative videos about cats, I have an orange ginger cat, his name is Simba. 😊 My cat is very talkative & sweet, he loves to rub his scent against me & my husband. 💜
Thank U so much, I really appreciate that.🤗🙏🙏🙏💗😸At this point I feel like Simba is almost becoming the channel’s mascot.😁
@Meowtopia-k8z Could you upload more videos about orange ginger cat, Simba? 😊
I’ll do my best, for sure.😉
@Meowtopia-k8z I look forward to more interesting videos from you. 😊
😁More interesting videos are on the way.😉👍🤗🙏
I always know and I apologize as well and then everything becomes mutual again it’s so adorable
Exactly, that mutual feeling is what makes it so special.🤗💖💖💖😻🙏
Who actually gets angry at their cat? They are cats, they just do stuff, its what makes them cats.
Exactly. They are cats, and being a cat is the whole point. Like I said in an earlier comment, sadly there are still people who do not think past their own frustration and stay stuck in an old-school mindset.🤦♂️
My cat was opening my bedroom closet door and using my clothes as a ladder to get to the second shelf. He’s ripped holes in easily 50 pieces of clothing, including 2 leather jackets. I still love the little shit, but to say ppl don’t get mad at cats is definitely NOT true 😅
That is completely fair. And if it helps at all, I had a brand new Wolverine shirt once, totally untouched, and now it looks even more like Wolverine actually wore it, covered in fur and claw marks. It used to be one of my favorites, now apparently it is his favorite.😅😅😅😅😼 I did learn the lesson though, the things I really care about now stay protected. And one other secret is redirection, because a lot of the time giving them a better target helps more than getting mad.
The bunting is what my cat uses to claim me again.
Exactly. That is such a perfect way to put it. Every bunt feels like your cat saying alright, U are officially mine again.😼😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
When use my cat brush l get love bits😂
Love bites during brushing usually mean U found the spot they like… and also their limit. Try fewer strokes, slower, and pause the moment the first nibble happens. And if U want a super gentle alternative, try a slightly damp toothbrush and softly “groom” the forehead, for many cats it feels like a mother’s tongue and keeps everything calmer.😉👍
My Orville, when he knows he's done something he shouldn't and I might be a bit crispy towards him? He comes up on my desk, sits in front of me, softly meows, and offers me the top of his head. He's saying he wants us to be pals again and he ALWAYS gets that kiss. Like I could ever be really angry with him!!!
That is such a perfect example of cat peace-making. The soft meow, the sitting right in front of U, the offered head, that is not random at all. They know all the secrets, and they definitely know we cannot resist those big eyes.😅😻🤗💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏
My male cat hardly purrs and if he does, it is virtually undetectable.
That’s actually pretty common. Not every cat has a loud purr. Some are almost silent purrers, and U only notice it if your hand is on their chest or neck.👍😉
Mine purred very loudly.
He also expressed his other emotions loudly as well.
😀
How old is your cat?
I love cats like that. When they are that vocal, U never have to guess what mood they’re in. I bet when he purred he vibrated more than an old cellphone from the 2000s.🤗💕😂
If U’re asking me, mine are four and three.
You should never have a reason to scold a cat. They aren’t wired to understand it anyway. They aren’t dogs. They aren’t really domesticated.
I get ur point, and that’s actually very close to what the video is saying. Cats don’t really process scolding as a lesson the way people imagine. Most of the time they just feel the tension, and then they respond by trying to calm the situation in the only language they know.
@Meowtopia-k8zyes and I appreciate the video. I was taken aback by the thought of scolding a cat for knocking over a vase. As if a cat knows or is ever going to know how to not do something like that. That’s a human problem not a cat problem. Make your living space cat friendly.
I have an adopted adult shelter cat who is scared to death of brooms. If I pick up a broom she runs and hides. Someone clearly used a broom to “discipline” her, all she learned is brooms are scary. Zero association to whatever behavior caused it.
That’s how cats think. And scolding your cat will just teach them that YOU are scary.
Anyway I bought a no handle broom and get on my knees to sweep. That’s life with cats.
Cheers…
Humans think in terms of blame, but cats think in terms of safety, threat, and association. They do not take scolding as a lesson the way people imagine, they just learn what feels safe and what feels scary. So with something like a broken vase, the cat is not learning do not do that again, the cat is learning this human is upset and I need to protect myself. The broom example says everything. She did not learn a rule, she learned fear. That’s also why I really respect the fact that U adapted to her instead of forcing her through it.😿😔😢🙏🙏🙏
the last point about belly was very interesting and insightful.
I agree, that part tends to surprise people. The belly looks obvious, but with cats it often means something very different from what we assume. Once U understand that little test, U also avoid a fair number of scratches and band-aids.😅😂😂😂😂😂
Purring and headbutts ❤❤❤
Simple but perfect.🤗💕💕💕💕💕💕💕😻 Purring and headbutts are two of the most honest signals cats use.
No matter what my cat does she’s a good girl. I tell her several times per day.
Cats may not understand every word, but they definitely learn the tone, the routine, and the love behind it.🤗💖💖💖😻
A simple tip I will give you.... Do not pat the cats paw whilst they are comfatable? Gently pet the arm 2 inches above the paw... Take your time otherwise the cat will tell it is stressed to the max ;) ..... Patience equals a balance in your purr and his/hers ;)
This is actually a really good tip.👍👍👍👍👍 A lot of cats are sensitive about their paws, so going a little higher on the leg is usually way better received. And U’re right about the timing, slow and gentle wins. Cats are honest, if they’re not into it, they’ll tell U fast.😼
If I spray my cat for messing with my bearded dragon. My cat will shit on my dogs bed. 🤷♂️😂
At that point I’d stop reading it as the cat being funny and start reading it as the cat being stressed and reactive. The explanation is probably that the correction is spilling over into other behavior. My advice would be to remove the chance to bother the dragon in the first place and replace the spray with redirection and more controlled play. Let me know if anything changes after that.🤔
Right around 6:43 minutes in, a white cat appears who has black gunk in both ears. Please tend to the problem.
Right.
Quick, nice
The footage used in this video isn't shot specifically by the channel's owner but harvested from many different sources. I can tell you confidently that the channel has no connection with that white cat and no means of tending to it.
worth the watch, thanks for this video
Thanks, really glad U stayed with it and found it useful.🙏🙏🙏🤗💕💕💕
Great video! I try to do the slow blink correctly! I would hate to click on this video, but I am not perfect, by my kitties...
Thank U, that means a lot.🙏🙏🙏🤗💕💕💕😻 None of us get everything right with our cats,😅😁 but trying to understand them is what really matters. 😻💕💕💕💕💕💕💕😸
This video is really fascinating because it suggests that cats may express regret or repair trust in subtle ways that many owners don’t notice. I like how it encourages people to look more carefully at feline behavior and understand that even small gestures can carry emotional meaning.
Thank U for noticing that, because that’s really the heart of it. Cats often don’t do anything loud or obvious, but that doesn’t mean nothing is being communicated. Sometimes the smallest behaviors are the ones saying the most.😉👍😻💕💕💕
My cat loves belly rubs
Most cats treat the belly like a “look, don’t touch” zone, so if yours enjoys it, that’s a big trust sign.😻🤗💖💖💖
wonderful!!! I learned so much
+ had some of my thoughts & feelings confirmed. Thank you.
I’m really glad to hear that.🙏🙏🙏🤗😁 Sometimes the best part is not just learning something new, but realizing U were already noticing more than U thought.👍😉😻💗💗💗
Most cat owners don’t think cats have one setting: indifference. They love cats and understand their behavior otherwise they wouldnt be cat owners
I’m with U. Most cat people understand cats aren’t indifferent at all. The issue is the newcomers and the old-school mindset, some still think punishment “teaches.” And sadly, some owners claim they love cats but make choices that prioritize convenience or furniture over the cat’s wellbeing, declawing is the classic example. That’s exactly why education matters.
@Meowtopia-k8zwhen I first got a cat, declawing was normal. We have learned a lot in the last 50 years.
Absolutely. A lot of things were seen as “normal” back then simply because people didn’t know better. The important part is exactly what U said, we’ve learned, and we keep improving. And thankfully it’s becoming more and more restricted or outright banned in more places now.
This is definitely one of the best videos I've seen on understanding cat language. Well done!
Thank U, I really appreciate that. 🙏🙏🙏🤗💖💖💖😻A comment like this means a lot, especially on a topic people so often misunderstand. I also hope this video reaches some of the people who still think in that old-school way, the ones who still call cats opportunistic or worse.
@Meowtopia-k8zYou can only reach those who want to be reached. A lot of people see their pets as theirs to control. People like that aren't interested in understanding their cat. Their cat doesn't get to set its own boundaries. That's not a knowledge problem, it's a lack-of-empathy problem.
I won’t change everyone, but even reaching a few matters. I’ve already seen comments from people saying they had never noticed these signals before, and that’s already something.👍
How horrible to spray water on their face ! Imagine anyone doing the same to you. 😢
I discipline my cat with stern NO n a raised hand. They understand me very well. Never had to hit or spray water. If unknowingly they do any pranks then please dont be angry, enjoy their antics. They come back to apologise once their excitement levels wears off.
Many people used those methods in the past because they didn’t know better. Some even spank cats like they were children, thinking they will understand the mistake,🤦♂️ but cats don’t learn that way. Calm guidance and redirecting the behavior works much better. 👍😉😸
That is right, it is mean to do so.
Exactly. Cats respond much better to calm guidance than to punishment. Many people don’t realize that, and some even think they solved the problem and feel proud of it, but fear isn’t real learning for a cat.
@Meowtopia-k8zif they’re NOT allowed on the kitchen countertop, and get sprayed every time they’re up there… they will learn Don’t Go There!
They might learn “don’t go there when U’re around,” but that’s the key difference. Spraying often teaches avoidance and fear, not understanding. Many cats just wait until U leave, or they get stressed and start doing other unwanted behaviors. A better long-term fix is making the counter boring and giving them an allowed “high place” nearby, then rewarding that choice.
Last summer I was crashing at a friends apartment and playing with their cat.
In her excitement she kicked out her foot and managed to get my wrist good enough to draw blood so I stopped to run some water on it and get a band aid.
Maybe an hour or two later as well got ready for bed, when she'd normally follow my friends to the bed room, she instead came out and curled up between my legs the rest of the night.
She's a baby lol
That really does sound like one of those moments. She probably got carried away, then later came back in the quietest cat way possible to reconnect and make sure things were okay. A few days ago someone even sent me a video of a stray cat in Turkey that turned and bit a tourist during petting, but the tourist stayed calm and the cat immediately started licking the same hand. And the crazy part is there are still people convinced cats are cold, indifferent, and opportunistic.
I don't really scold my cat as I always just assumed what would be the point. But I have gotten into a fight with my gf before where we were both loud. In the middle of the fight one of our cats jumped up onto my chest and just started purring very loudly. Needless to say it ended the fight.
In the context of this video, I think I better understand what our cat was doing.
That’s actually a perfect example of what the video talks about.😉 Cats are incredibly sensitive to emotional tension, and jumping onto your chest and purring loudly was probably their way of trying to reset the atmosphere and calm both of you down. Sounds like your cat stepped in as a little peacekeeper.😻💕💕💕💕💕💕🙏
I had a cat that would get upset with me if I was gone for over a day. He would sit just out of arm's reach and glare at me. If I moved in closer to try to pet him, he would get up and move, again just out of arm's reach and would continue to glare at me. After I engaged in his little hard to get game for about 15 minutes, he'd give in. He'd run up to me, greet me with excited to see me meows, then jump in my lap and be full of little purr purrs.
I love this because it sounds so dramatic and so affectionate at the same time. He had to make his point first, then once the protest was over, all the love came pouring out. Cats really do know how to punish U and miss U in the same breath.😾😥😻🤗😂😂😂😂💕💕💕💕💕
