Awesome stuff Dan! It's good to see you back out in the woods..I'm glad that elk pouch is still holding up and able to join you in your adventures, I know that bearing rock you made has assisted me in hundreds of embers with no signs of slowing down. As always, thanks for sharing this Dan, I enjoyed it!!
Thanks for taking us along, you are the only person I know of that asks " where's my saw, where's my hammer, where's my knife " and in response to all reaches over and picks up a rock. luv it.
Dan this is a great video, this is exactly why i started flint knapping. So i can go into the bush and pick rocks that i can make into tools if wanted or needed. I dont have flint up here besides on a beach i know that was dumped here by the eurpoeans 100's of years ago. So i would have to use what rocks i can find that will knap some what to do the task needed, but that was my inspiration, is to beable to do just what your doing in this video. thanks alot .
Great video as always, Dan. I hope you didn't let those shavings go to waste, the yellow inner bark was used in kinnikinnik mixtures by the Ojibwe and contains useful Berberine!
I love your primitive videos man! So much more than just the normal videos like people who take all the military type stuff into the woods. Thats how ive always been. Completely primitive.
Real nice video Dan! I like looking for rock/stones also. Although we mostly have sand stone here in PEI, we can find some better rocks along the beaches. I learnt a couple od weeks ago that rail road tracks are good too. We don't have the tracks anymore but the routes are used for hiking trails and still have gravel, etc. The trail comes by near me and I'll check it out as soon as the 3 feet of snow over it melts! I always enjoy your videos!! Chris
Looking forward to seeing how those arrows turn out. Man, you say you are going back to school, but you ARE the school and professor of rocks and making tools! :o) If they have a faculty of Outdoor Rec, or Paleontology/Archeology where you are going to be a student, you could teach courses or adjunct labs!
What will you do in your new place to come close to this? This is a great vid for many reasons. I hope you find your new spots and claim your space in them too.
Beautiful work, just don't see that back to basics, primitive building much anymore. Thanks for sharing and God Bless you on your new journey in life.
