It costs a lot of money to pump sand... using a ship... 3 miles up the shore line. The feds are worried about the mainland and Dauphin Island taking more of the impact out of a hurricane. And you have the audobon bird santuary and coast guard base on the east end.
It's ashamed that none of those millions of dollars were spent renourishing the west end beach.
