Hello, thanks to your teachings, I have learned to play the bass and watched most of your videos. I am interested in learning to play Black Jack by JD CRAWE. I have not yet been able to learn it. I have found it difficult. I would appreciate it.@@JimPankey
Anyone watching this and learning needs to look at the original videos. Jim’s the man. He believes in you. I learned this song from him four years ago. You can too! Keep on pickin!!!!! Jim. I see what your doing here! Sly dog.
Dude , I’m a Puerto Rican in the south Bronx I play classical guitar and I always wanted to play the banjo you make a great instructor I’m going to get me one and start picking thanks 😊
In my other life, I have an appliance repair business. And all I can do is look at the oven (?) behind you and think “I’ve never seen that one before“. :-)
I like these short videos, Jim! I'm practising again, after a while. Cripple Creek basics are still there :--) Thanks for your videos, greets from The Netherlands!
Hi Jim, great videos! When using my middle finger to slide it seems like I may be a bit fat fingered and ride on the 2nd string while I slide. Any tips to avoid doing this?
Okay .... I'm still working on the slide, but what's a rough estimate of how long it should take me to master lesson 3? Just so I can stay on track. Thanks in advance!
Always thankful for those folks like you who are happy and willing to teach others.
So glad to do it. Thanks for letting me help you learn.

Glad I could help 😊
Super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Slides are a good callous builder lol
Indeed
I've started lesson 4 and my biggest hurdle with the slide is fat fingering and killing string 2 going into the roll... practice practice 😊

Glad I can help!!
This sounds horrible but I did the first two lessons okay and I'm now finally ready for this third lesson right on time thank you Jim
Thanks for the update! You’ve got this!
I would love to learn to play the 5 string banjo, butt i am already over 50 and absolutely no notion of playing an instrument.
It's just a matter of getting a banjo and starting. Age has very little to do with it.
@@JimPankey Thanks for the response. Quick question, for playing bluegrass do I look out for an open-back or closed banjo ?
Prefer the pointed finger picks or blade type?
I’ve used the Ernie Ball finger picks since about 1981

No real tip other than keep trying. You may be pressing too hard.

There’s really no answer for that as everyone learns at their own pace.
My rule of thumb on these lessons is one a week.
you tube didnt exist when I was learning the first basics, i sit driver seat of bus and play....people think Im mp3 player
Gotta spread the banjo love!
