Shreematee Kaushuki Chakraborty is a wonderful singer and I am a true admirer of her singing as well as of her illustrious father. As an over eighty year olld ''kansen'' of Hindustani cClassical Music, and since 1947, listening to great vocalists like Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Pt. Onkarnath Thakur. Pt. Vinayakrao Patwardhan (who stayed at our Patna house for few days in 1948, and as the house hosted Pt. Radhika Mohan Moitra and Pt. Gnan Prakash Ghosh in1949) and so many other greats in concerts at Patna and Kolkata. can differentiate the appeal of the music dished out by the artists to their audience like me who are numerically more than the ''tansens'' . What I have noted that Shreemati Kaushiki emphasises more on taankari part while singing light classical songs like thumris than on the lyrics and the ''bhav'' they express ,which greats like Vidushi Siddheswri Devi, Begum Rasoolan Bai, Begum Akhtar, Vidushi Girija Devi gave due importance while singing. Hope, my comment will get her attention. Best wishes to her to reach the zenith which she can with her tremendous talent and training and teaching she receives from her father.
Purab ang is what u want.... Shobha gurtujis rendition and many stalwarts.... I remember in a home baithak and counting 7 raag phrases in the rendition of this from a kirana / purab ang Stalwart..... Thing is this her mother training is of patiala... Sometimes it comes out.. U can't help the natural instinct

May I request the management to include the names of all the accompanying artists on the stage. It is imperative for the sake of professional courtesy. Each artist contributes immensely to the final outcome. It is a shame and an insult to the other performers.

KaushikiJi, your charming voice can be more soothing if you work more on sentimental aspects than techniques. All recognize your perfect technique. But when you sing Kajri-like compositions, please feel the zeal and innocence of the village girl who with her friends is sitting on a swing and singing to her heart.
Some years back I had commented that Kaushiki should use Sarangi as the main accompanying instrument. I still believe that she should do so. Harmonium does not suite her smooth, crystal-clear, water-flow like voice.
All Hindustani music must be annotated by the singer with what raag/raags or swaras, taal and significance to promote the genre and make it the music more enjoyable. Besides, she is out of this world.
