We need to have a mature view to this matter....This has nothing to do with "Haram" brother, the words of this lecture matter more than the music to me, that's why I am watching this video, not for the music. The music actually becomes the distraction here!

@@qissaofislam Please Please please, lets stay mindful that these lectures are about what is being said, not the emotions that the music is trying to put us in.. why do we need to have this emotional state to feel nice, soft and cool?... ****What is being said is far more beautiful that any music being played in the background****. We need to have a grown-up and an intellectual view on this... I don't know who started this tradition of adding music to every lecture and why.. its a distraction from the thing that really matters.. invoke the intellect not the feelings! ... Hamza Yusuf himself addressed this point many times, even when people play Quran in the background and what this means and what it entails.

I can testify about zikr. I did zikr unintentionally as a part of dua for my father who returned to Allah. It was surah Al Qadr, about 1000 times a day. I didn’t realize I was meditating, it gave such peace to my mind. For the first time in my life, I actually remembered my dream where I spoke to my Father. The zikr cleared my mind. I haven’t stopped since and it changed my life and perception. I always think my father taught me the most valuable lesson in his death, he literally handed me over to Allah as he left this world. I encourage everyone to try zikr even those who can’t pray Salah. It will open doors you didn’t even know existed.

    (The poem at the end)
‘Be Like Ahmad‘ ﷺ: A Poem For The Beloved Of God ✨️
    By Shaykh Hamza Yusuf
The Sun solemnly stated, “How can my light compare to his.”
And the Moon laughed, “Be like me! Content to reveal another’s light.”
The North Star declared, “What guidance can I provide next to his?”
And all the stars exclaimed, “Be like us! Who revolve around you and show no envy.”
The sea shouted, “What secrets can I contain when compared to his wonders?”
The clouds pleaded, “Be like us! Exalted in the sky because we humbly draw our water from another and pour forth in gratitude and service.”
The rose ruefully remarked, “What beauty do I have next to his?”
The mirror said, “Be like me! Who can only reflect another’s beauty.”
Reason exclaimed, “What wisdom can I reveal next to his revelation?”
The tongue replied, “Be still, and let me quote him.”
Gold complained, “What worth do I have next to his?”
Copper cried, “What ingratitude! Your purity was his from the start, be happy to be compared to him.”
The dog barked, “He mentioned me.”
The cat meowed, “He petted me.”
The donkey brayed, “He rode on me.”
The horse neighed, “He called me an ocean.”
The camel grunted, “I took him to safety.”
The frog croaked, “I was his favourite.”
The spider stood tall on eight legs, and stately stated, “I protected him once.”
The cloud boasted, “I shaded him.”
The tree declared, “He called me, and I bowed to him.”
The palm trunk said, “Well, he hugged me.”
The date gloated, “I was sweet for him.”
    Milk exalted, “I nourished him.”
Water croaked, “I quenched his thirst.”
The Ka’aba shouted, “He circled me.”
The Yemeni corner replied, “He touched me.”
The black stone laughed and said, “He kissed me.”
The pebbles yelled, “We praised God in his palm.”
The mountains of Mekah called out, “He loved us!”
Madina demurely whispered, “He chose me.”
And humanity cried, “Nafsi! Nafsi! Me! Me!”
And God said, “Be like Ahmad.”
And Ahmad said, “Ummati! Ummati! My community! My community!”
And God replied, “We will grant you until you are content.”
O Allah send peace and blessings upon our master Prophet Muhammad and his progeny

Mindfulness is the first, middle, last and journey itself in Buddhism
    It was never neglected
It is the bread and butter to be, to realize truth

Our experiences in the womb from conception are kept from truth of knowing and the thoughts of adults who hide the truth of trauma there (to protect their own shame and guilt if only they could see how far back this trauma goes in their own lives and ancestory).
Our minds are full and trying to understand, recycle, compost trauma which if repressed by social 'norms' rather than personal and community sharing.. remain as records stuck in arrest.
We are free when we can free our minds and bodies of stagnant energy, blocked, word and social blocks to respond to trauma and so block learning how to respond to deep 'unconscious' traumas.
We live in an age of distraction as we have done (in colonised populations which is most of us now).
We haven't forgotten God...we've been distracted from (yes by adverts) truth of what hurts new life and how that echoes back and forth across generations.
Trauma is impact overwhelming, that's what divides within people and between them..across generations causing mental and physical distress, distractions cut us off from healing the truth of trauma.
When healed...allowed to share and rest after reality of trauma, learn how to go that journey TOGETHER...
then we have understanding of flow to connection and full awareness.
