  • GTO Poker is at the top of all the poker strategy headlines, but it's complex and difficult to understand! In this poker strategy video from one of the top poker coaches in the modern era, Jonathan Little, he will take you through how to use modern poker theory to WIN!
Don't get lost in the complexity of it, and instead focus on the baseline principles & fundamentals of GTO to dictate your poker strategy! In poker, it doesn't matter if you're the 10th worst player to ever live... as long as you're playing the #1-#9 worst players to ever live, you will crush them!
You make money in poker when your opponents make mistakes, and you play more fundamentally sounds than them. But with that said, when considering how to play fundamentally sound strategies, you need to focus on the proper inputs & variables to make your decisions!
A great asset of GTO solutions, is that they often lead to mixed strategies. A mixed strategies is when sometimes, you take one action with a hand and other times, you take a different action. You can imagine a spot where you have a weak top pair hand on the turn. If you ALWAYS bet this hand, your opponent can really put you in a tough spot in the times that you check back. If you always check this hand, they'll punish that too. BUT, if you mix it up, you keep your opponent guessing and have a strong strategy to use!
I hope that you enjoy this video on GTO poker, solvers, and modern poker theory!

The modern era of poker may be more of a science than an art, but GTO poker is beautiful to me :)

Not the biggest fan of the GTO on the high level (not that it doesn't work, it's just not as fun :D) but these basic principles are something to live by even in low stakes games. So many people simply refuse to adopt game theory fundamentals and this can give you a big edge over them.

with all due respect. i have been playing microstakes for years and I have no idea how to begin to interface with GTO. What are the exact steps? What am I trying to think about when Im playing live hands online? is there a book I can read?

In GTOWizard blog tell me GTO is fixed strategy, can you explain the different when you say it is mixed strategy?

it is called so because you don't always act the same. so i.e.: in some spots you bet 50% of the time one third pot, 20% like three thirds of the pot but also 30% of the time check. you mix up your play basically randomly and that's what makes it eventually "mixed"

fixed in this case does not mean that you have to choose one action with one particular hand in one specific spot at 100% frequency. if you choose your action based on some static probability function, e.g. 20% fold, 30% call and 50% raise, your strategy is still called fixed. only if you shift the underlaying probabilities, your strategy becomes dynamic.

Why more coaches arent using gto theory to exploit is mind boggling. The majority of players now, seem to all be solver slaves, the game has never been easier to exploit. Understand what players are solver slaves thru notes online and then adjusting play to exploit in every spot would literally print money, they are so reliant on solvers now, any play outside the solvers set betting sizing will leave them in a spot where they will be giving away such a massive advantage, all of their approved solver play and rake would most likely make them a break even player at best. These solver slaves would be essentially mining profits for good exploitive players studying solver spots to print money. While they print ev lolol. Charlie carrol is the only person really understanding this. The 6max games have never been more profitable especially with all the rec players on top of that.

GTO will cost you a bundle. I watch people coming in with a raise for the cutoff with j-8 suited and losing a fortune when a jack comes on the flop. Crap cards will always be crap cards.
