      Hi Marc,
ok, staying at home, i can write a bit about Falungong.
I studied Western and Indian philosophy. Many years I practised ZEN Buddhism and have been many years practitioner in Theravada monasterys in Srilanka, Thailand and Myanmar. The last ten years i studied Mahayana, the Yogacara and Madhyamika branch and so I know some about practise and theories in East and West.
Let me answer in two points.
      1) don't simple believe what one is telling you. The history knows endless stupid minds who are telling you great story's.
      2) the only ways to proof is check his saying!
      1) I am sorry. But using terms like compassion love and wisdom didn't say something about Li Hongzhis mind. These good mental states are respected in each religion or spirtiual movement.
Its the common way for great liar to cheat others about the own past, the own experience.
Thousends of wrong minds are lying and speaking of love, compassion and good deeds. Almost all wrong teacher give their fellower spiritual exercises with promissed unbelievable results. Almost all wrong teachers remind their fellower only to listen what they are telling, and they all speak about that they are the only right and all others are wrong.
And after some years where the fellowers lost all feelings of reality, in a state of blind believing, the "master" turns explaining his fellowers he is GOD, Brahman, Incarnation of Jesus or Buddha or a spiritual incarnation to free the minds on earth.
Li Hongzhi is one of the most charlatans in that buisness.
The history can call so many examples where fellowers and wrong gurus stay together until one or both are death. Then short time after the cult find its end.
An authentic teacher can lead you to some realization. There have been great teachers where under theier guidance a few disciples found enlightment. Some after a very short time. And the power of these disciples spread in the next generation. This is a slowely growing process where the teachers name becomes more and more known carried from realized minds.
In opposite a wrong teacher enjoys to his end to be the only one. This is only a following program, only making his name great. He is not able to lead you to freedom and you are not more in his eyes as someone who adores him. What fun for him! The only benefits what you get of practising his way are good feelings, who depend on your believe and your faith that the practise will guide you to the final goal.
Good feelings are only good feelings. They have nothing to do with insight and they are not able to warn you for wrong teachings. Good feelings seeing your friends, having thoughts about your good deeds, about your power to forgive, to be deaf about critic, about your power to be responsible for your spirtiual way... All that makes one easily belief to be on the way.
Sometimes i want say b to people :
It's odd that you practise all your life with your friend, sticking together and dreaming to the final goal and never asked yourself why from so many people not one single person experienced that what Li Hongzhi claimed to reached!
It's a main strategy of wrong teacher to keep the follower close with exercises and good paroles. Missionary activities from followers with no insight, only staying in blind faith with his beloved teacher is a very big problem in our days!
      2) yes, hunderts of thousend speaking about progress. But all religious or spirtiual people are saying literal the same. You have to practise, it is truth,... And they all have fancy exercises.
What makes me worry about Li Hongzhis writings is the connection to Buddhism. People can follow the teaching of Li Hongzhi. That's pretty fine. Theier decision.
But he knew from the very beginning to catch peoples interest, he need to write about Buddhism and Tai Chi. But he didn't have much knowledge about Buddhism so he created something complete different.
I know Buddhism and I know Buddhism have many different forms, ways of teaching. Some followers of li hongzhi may think, hearing about criticism, the others, the critics, are a bit dogmatic, may have fear that Falun Gong are the right way. But let me say, this is not the case. Buddhists and Tai Chi teachers are only worry. For all they it's very clear that Li Hongzhi is one of the most stupid persons on earth. It's very normal, no one wants to be wrong. But we need to be critical. That's the most basic stuff! Plato was saying. I love Sokrates, but much more i love philosophy, the truth!
That's what Buddhist and all authentic truth seeker have in heart. Blind following makes people sometimes to zombies.
To bring it on the spot. For me as someone who loves philosophy and Buddhism it is heavily to understand that people are so careless in believing someone.
It is definetly not enough to have good feelings and taking care of one own mind attitude.
If Li Hongzhi isn't what he claims to be, then all his writings and all his teachings are nothing more as his phantasy.
What i say to you is that you have to be very very sure that he is right, otherwise u give your mind and heart a liar, a liar who have no problem to cheat million of people's and to stay calm knowing that million of people are practising without any hope to get some insight! In that way it is definetly not enough thinking: "compassion, wisdom..." is good, i have good feelings... so everything is fine.
If he is a liar, he is one of the most evil persons. Accepting that million of people waste theier life, only that he feels great!
I read the half book of li hongzhis first book. Marvels Thanos and Li hongzhis Buddhahood have something in common, both have nothing to do with Buddhism.
Without some basic knowledge about epistemology, ontology and sensitivity about language you didn't get aware about the gap between absolutism and scepticism, about eternalisic and nihilistic thoughts, about realistic and nominalistic reasinings.
Buddha, each great master knows about tensions. Even not knowing these terms, insight takes place in that (wrong) views.
I only read the first half book and it is written from a very simple mind.
There are authentic masters who are not educated in that scholastic Abhidharmic philosophic but they write from inner insight in a perfect enlightened way.
That Li Hongzhi didn't have much scholastic analytic thinking ability is not to judge, but all worse is his philosophical view! All what makes Buddhism beautiful he turns it like a butcher in dirt.
Did ever any Buddhist or Buddha speak about smallest parts to have to see to get enlightment? That's almost the most ridiculous relalistic view you can imagine.
His writing are in the highest degrees absolutistic and eternalistic! Maybe Hindus can find something familiar in that. He speaks about a self, about permanence, about all that stuff in the most simple way that each Buddist written a little background knowledge can only shake the head.
This is why Li hongzhi is only something for people who are strong in believing and endowed with less philosophical or critical thinking skills.
Only reading the first pages I felt disgusted from his egocentric and disrespected expressions.
I always noticed that authenticity was always connected with respect for the own teachers. Only stupid minds didn't recognize the teachers or downgrade the own teachers as only waiting, that he becomes teached.
Here is everything wrong. Respect for the own teachers, respect for the reader and respect for all the other teachers, not blaming them for only chatting. Did he know all minds in the last 2000 years? Thats a no go in writings and only a simple mind writes in that way...
      Have a nice day!

@@jososojo4659 I just follow Falun Gong in a way of Qigong, in order to open my energetic points. I do not follow the manual. I share the same opinion that one person writing a moral is dangerous... And the thing is that he is telling me that I'm not acting well because I'm homosexual. So, I practice the 5 exercices in order to feel well and meditate, not following his teachings. The teachings, on my perspective, need to be found in yourself through mediation and self perspective. And the healthy benefits that the practice gives to the people. I've known from Falun Dafa because of a friend of mine who practice it and she get better from a severe skin problem she had all through her life. And that's the reason why I practice Falun Dafa. My first meditation book was this of Charles Luk, "the secrets of Chinese meditation". He was the most known deciple of Hsu Yun, the inheritor of Chan Buddhism in China. He described a very nice exercise in the last part of his book. A almost forgotten old technique for awakening the inner Chi. He described the stages and many questions around it.
I practised this, didn't know much about Buddhism in that time. Charles Luk was a very devote practitioner of Buddhism and this book is a very good example how Daoism und Buddhism, the esoteric Buddhism have to be understood.
I practised in Yangon, Myanmar over one year, daily 15 hours without break observing belly raising-falling sensation... Straight through all Buddhist traditions, very different in practising body movements you notice one thing:
It's all about stay close with body sensation, stay close with the arising thoughts, stay close with the arising feelings...
There is no holy movements, there is no hidden key to discover what connects you with the supramundane. Look to the well known movements of "goenka" observing body sensations from up to down or observing nostrils sensations or the large hand movements of Lp Tee-an.
The differences of all this techniques deals mostly with the arising problem each practitioner faces: doubt, sleepiness, restlessness... Its difficult to practise straightforward, so teachers developed skillful ways to overcome this hindrances. Large body movements compare to nostril obervings are much easier to practise over long time.
In all this large Buddhist meditation field, what comprise of course as well these of mystic /esoteric, we see the same central meditation elements. Without these it's not meditation and there is no goal.
These are : There are body and mind arisings. Depend on conditions.
There is knowing about these arisings.
And now the question of all Meditation practise is: What does it mean there is knowledge of sensations. On that spot we face all the dictionary full of meditation vocabulary.
And here we see how worse Falun gong misguide the people.
Where Buddhism teaches: clear the riddle between your 5(6) sense dependent arising consciousness, the knowing sensations - this will guide u to liberation.
But Li Hongzhi didn't join that game where the mind tries to get clear about the own daily /profane perception. The very profane daily perception, blue, hard, hot or cold sensations are the meditation objects. From here understood Buddha the origin of suffering. From here the mind reified sensations and from here arises attachment. That's why Buddha, Buddhism use the example with the root. Buddha solved the problem from the very root on. That doesn't mean to connect your inner spirtiual energy with the energy of the universe.
This kind of idea is 100% misguiding in Buddhist context. That's the very old idea of Atman und Brahman. But in comparsion to li Hongzhi the old Indian masters were very skilled in giving their metaphysical ideas the right meditation form. They advised others and meditated in the way they believed its right.
So the Hindu Atman Brahman movement, as well of course the Buddhists had one guy in the center, without them nothing is going in the right way. That's awareness, the knowing process about our world and ourself. How knowledge comes to be.
As I say, Li Honghzi is not in that buisness. He shares a very mechanistic idea, where not the riddle of seeing is the center, but... Not worth to speak about it.
U may know floating tanks or the ridiculous European /American scientology movement or going in the heat (shamanistic) or cold (kryotanks).
Many ways and they all lead to strong experiences. Pain/Stress reduction, strong emotions, arising immunsystem.
There is even evidence for successful fighting against cancer and others...
There is nothing mystic behind that.
There is a saying. If u don't have the energy for changing yourself, change the environment. This will change you!
Some motivation Trainer might introduce the audience for sitting 12 hours on the chairs. Of course this will lead to strong feelings and emotions. They know how to generate emotions.
If you do some exercise each day, of course this will lead you to expanding awareness. But there is no experience of Li Hongzhis fairy tale world behind.
But if you believe his metaphysic u didn't see what is going on right now. U didn't take notice on your changing attention, on your gravity sensations on your foots, your arising heart sensations, u didn't notice the interchange between body und mind sensations.
In li hongzhis easy proctioner are deluded to his Metaphysik. They see the exercises as key to his described worlds behind. They take the mind away from what is going on right now to a fiction world, they desire to reach soon.
That's why in Buddhism Metaphysik didnt have to be considered much. Asking a Buddhist about the Universe, what the universe is by nature, she will probably say :a thought, an arising thought. You didn't perceive the universe. There is cognition of color. There is no perceiving of a universe ever possible. The difference/relaionship between sensations and reification of them is the most discussed subject in all religious /spiritual traditions.
Have a look to the book of Charles Luk. Here u didn't experience primary (only) psychosomatic release, but even more in context to a ripening insight process. What only concerns your own body and mind.
