I've been a Sone for 10 years and I absolutely love everything about this comeback. SNSD always surprises, and I actually like that they went with something upbeat and fun rather than what many expected of them. They're showing that women over 30 can still release upbeat fun bops and not everything has to be a dark concept just because you're 30+. And I love the message, Tiffany saying "we're not stopping" and the lyrics in general. Taeyeon said SNSD has been able to last this long because the girls themselves are fans of SNSD too, and it shows. They really made a statement that just because they've been focusing on individual activities, it doesn't mean SNSD is going anywhere. As Tiffany said, separate and together, that is Girls' Generation. They're trailblazing yet again and doing something no one has done before.
Kenzie produced the title track (and also helped with producing the entire album). She wrote ITNW and a TON of other iconic SNSD and SM artist songs. The girls told her they wanted something uplifting and that's what she gave them (also peep the ITNW melodies in the bridge). Yuri said it took them a year and a half to decide on their title track so they didn't choose this lightly. This comeback is a celebration of SNSD and a gift from the girls to Sone, and you can tell it came straight from the girls' hearts to us. All the work they put into everything makes it even more special than just a regular comeback to me. They could have released a single and we would have eaten it up, but the whole project was truly a labor of love to show their love and gratitude to Sone for waiting for them for so long. We are so lucky to be their fans, I know a lot of people think this about their favorite groups, but SNSD and Sone truly do have a special bond that is unique to anything I've seen in Kpop. They will always be my #1 group ever.
The album is absolutely fantastic, if you weren't totally about the title track, I'm positive you'll enjoy the b-sides. It's probably my favorite Korean album from them yet and I've seen a lot of people who don't even stan them saying it's SM's best album so far this year. The songs sound modern, but still have that classic SNSD sound we all love. It's truly amazing how they can make any genre sound like their own. Their vocals also sound insane, I think it's the best they've EVER sounded. The line distribution is amazing, all the girls have shining moments throughout. And Tiffany composed Villain and she and Sooyoung wrote the lyrics and the song is absolute FIRE.
I truly love this comeback and the album and love and appreciate the girls so SO much for doing all of this for us. Taeyeon said they'll decide about future group stuff depending on how this comeback does, so hopefully it will do well for them and maybe we won't have to wait another 5 years to see them together again.
I totally agree with your comments on the title track, this def feels like a statement on their comeback and a gift to fans, especially with the lyrics. A lot of the marketing push mentioned the song was made by Kenzie as an echo to all the songs theyve done with her, particularly their debut song, which might be why it doesnt sound particularly "new". The b-sides on the album might appeal more to you---I thought the "dark" Soshi songs (Villain & You Better Run) were so good, but the album overall is very feel good
This MV has several references to SNSD’s previous songs. The sailor outfits may represents Genie era, the palm tree stage is Holiday era, the cinema/crosswalk set is similar to Paparazzi (Jpn) while the colourful outfits may refer to IGAB zeta. Lastly, the slo-mo in red/brown outfit definitely refers to The Boys. The piano sound in the bridge (during Yuri’s part) kinda similar to legendary ITNW intro (thanks Kenzie). This song sounds so nostalgic and moving to SONEs and I just can’t contain this feelings!!! SLAY QUEENS!!!
Ps. Not to mention they did ITNW mood sampler and Mr. Taxi photo concept! The moving parade car is similar to the one they rode on the concerts!!

i think it's a grower! i had a similar thought to yours initially, but after the third listen, i found myself completely taken over by the song. that chorus hits so harrrrrrd!!! the song and the girls together looking happier than ever gets me so excited yet so damn emotional. i can't believe we're here in 2022 with a snsd comeback... then you listen to the album, and it's full of HITS, naturally. you can really tell they put so much love and care into making this album and it warms my little heart.
The title track is for them and SONE and the whole album is freaking AMAZING yet still meaningful as always!!!
The MV did have element of 4th gen in terms of how fresh and youthful it appears, but Soshi definitely has their own unique sound and charms that is hardly found in 4th gen GG. They just exudes class and elegance. Proof that they've been in the industry for so long. They are legendary. They will always be the best KPOP GG imo ! Just look at them, hear how they sing. Their harmonizations is some of the best i've heard in all KPOP. I couldn't be more proud as a SONE. They don't need a comeback to prove themselves, to have more fans or be more known or even to go against other active groups. They have nothing to prove anymore. They just want to celebrate their 15th anniversary with their beloved SONEs all around the world that have been waiting for 5 years. It's more of a gift for fans rather than a comeback. But of course we know that even without a comeback they already a household name in SoKor. I'm just happy to see them making music together again. Love these girls forever !

this got me sooo hype, it feels really good seeing one of the first groups I've stanned shining!!! Still feels weirdly good to even say "actual new girls generation content", it's been so long lol
And I think the chanty vibe is on purpose cuz this is very like an event, a celebration of them, as a group, and a love letter to sone! + the album is REALLY GOOD!!! it's very diverse in genre, they said bbies, we're gonna give y'all BOPS in every possible way

They are showcasing their solo activities; Taeyeon and her solo career, Hyoyeon DJing, Tiffany flying between South Korea and the US (she lives in LA) getting musical/comeback script offers, Yoona and Sooyoung shooting movies, Seohyun doing musicals, and Sunny is just living the celeb life.
I'm not a very EDM person either but then I think I understand they take that path. So many ppl say how they feel nostalgic after listening to this song which I actually feel the same way. This is probably what SNSD want for their fans, the feeling of them coming back, what ppl remember and know abt SNSD
always love ur reactions to the girls 🥰 i kinda love how snsd has such a versatile discog that ppl start stanning them for different sounds. ik sones who are here for their bubblegum pop sound, some who prefer a "stronger" sound, there are the ballad stans like myself lol it's gotta be kinda crazy for them to meet expectations with such a varied fanbase.. but i agree with you that this is more of a statement song, and they probably wanted smth fun to celebrate their anniversary 😅 all in all i love the song, they look and sound amazing! i rlly hope we get to hear this and the bsides live at least once bc my love for their live performances will always out perform my love for the studio version hehe
the edm element was definitely intentional for the nostalgic sound of the time, its def something we not just as sones, but kpop fans have wanted for a long time.
Loved the reaction! I'm a long time SONE and yes this song truly felt like a big celebration and statement. I'm an emotional wreck right now 😂 The album is super good too!! It makes me so happy but sad too because we'll probably have to wait another 5 years for them to come back together.
The fact that they gave the final song part to dance line which usually vocal line heavy is such a statement. Like they have nothing to prove cause everyone already know what vocal line capable of. And a lot of their fans know how dance line neglected on lines and parts. This time its kinda equal for all members. Like look at Hyo shining there.
I love the song and message behind it. Its love for Soshi as a group and love for Sones. And everytime it comes to that INTW part I have goosebumps. It grows ans stuck in your head as all SNSD songs. And the album is gorgeous. They trully are the 'one'.

I get goosebumps everytime I hear this song. I've being a SONE for 15 years and I love them so much, of course I have a bias (Tiffany) but I support all of them. I'm so happy I experienced every comeback in the past, every variety show and being by their side even in the hard moments. And of course I cried with this song lol THANK YOU SNSD FOR BEING PART OF MY LIFE.

Yess you're right the song is sort of a victory lap we're forever type of gig, there are some references to their older songs too (the lyrics at the beginning Seohyeon says "You screamed I love you" is forever straight copies from Into the New World lyrics, the bridge part uses Into the New World's intro melody in the background and there's also another lyrical homage when Sunny says "I get stronger when I think of you" which is from INTW too!!)

This is such a celebration song for SONE to see an hear this snsd mv. Of course the girls are always together in their personal time, but to see them reunited on stage and get a new album from them, I think this a perfect pick for their title track.
The into the New World sample during the bridge when they were on the red carpet was icing on the cake.

I love this song and the vibe because it's clearly a celebration of 15 years - the 15 in the back is so big and they're basically stacked like cake layers on that set. The album for me is more them but the mv showcasing their individual lives now with all their careers beyond SNSD but then coming together (before hiatus every talk show would ask when they're getting married and retiring from singing and throwing out age/gender) and smiling when we thought this wouldn't actually happen with their schedules... I'm here for them just singing about their love for SNSD and they each get the spotlight??? Like SM didn't just hand every high note to the same 2 people.

Also if you not notice the song change the beat to be more edm when Hyo, the DJ, sing her line, coinsidence? I think they try to put everything into one and edm is represent DJ Hyo, that's what I thought, but whatever its the vocals just *chefkiss*

one of my favorite things about this music video is that it applies very heavily to their lives as they're living them? hyoyeon is a dj, yuri mostly works as a model, yoona an actress, taeyeon still mainlining her vocals as a soloist, tiffany flew back to america, etc etc. the clips of them individually weren't random it's very literally representative.
"so fourth gen" when he was watching the sailor inspired clothing dances --- snsd has actually been using that concept for years, doing a more literal for "Genie" and something that almost completely matches these paritcular outfits when they released "Echo". if you haven't seen Echo yet, I highly recommend it, it's one of my absolute favorites.

The title is definitely like a celebration song. The album on the other hand is a COMEBACK!!! Mood Lamp, Villain, Summer Nights and Freedom are some of my standouts.
This 7th album is trully a gift for sones (GG fandom name), this song itself is a 15 years history or a resume from all of their hit songs, the clues is everywhere in the mv and everything. They also display their individual activities as they pursuing their own dreams such as singers, musical, actress, model, DJ, etc but they are still the one. They talk about themself and also their bonds with fans (sones). They kept their promise to fans that they will comeback as one from last 2017 and they make it happen, it's not easy because they all very busy with their individual career and 3 of them no longer under the same agency.

Honestly, I feel like this comeback is what it needed to be... I am not a huge snsd fan, I only know a few title tracks but even I got it right away. The song has an early 2010 sound to it, even the music video, some of the sets are reminiscent of the way SM used to built sets at the time ( the whole street corner/downtown thing ), the way it’s shot, some of the closeups feel like they are taken from an mv back then, the fashion is much more elevated but still in that spirit, it’s sexier, very much second generation. I think this is what their fans wanted anyway, what they are/were, not a 2022 version of snsd. It’s giving me the same feeling The Pussycat Dolls’ comeback gave me. It was what people knew, not a revamp. It’s like they never went away, time hasn’t passed. I personally don’t love the song itself, I think it could have been better ( still keeping that early 2010s sound which I actually love ) but I can see their old fans adoring it.

I’ve been a sone since The Boys era and share the same sentiments. Like IGAB and Party, it took me around 3 listens before it grew on me lol I absolutely love the lyrics and the meaning of the MV but the sound isn’t my favorite and that might be because I’m not too fond of EDM. I definitely prefer the other songs on their album over the title track. Overall, I love and appreciate what SNSD was able to share! I’m so happy they were able to have a comeback after so long!!

First time listening to this song, I don’t really like it. The second time I listened to it is with lyrics and I still didn’t like the song but I love the lyrics. Excuse me, the color coordination in this video! That sweater is AMAZING. Yeah it did seem like they were setting us up for a modulation or at least something out of the bridge, but then it just kept going. A repeat. The song is bland, it's cute, but not interesting. I would have really liked to see them show something that felt more current/exciting? And why do I keep thinking Hyoyeon looks like Nicole Scherzinger? haha They clearly still look very glamorous and lovely, and I am sure this is meaningful to them and many people, but I know I won't be listening to it really. Does absolutely nothing to harm their reputation of course, and will listen to the full album as well because title tracks only tell one story. :)
