Great video. Love this track in the MX-5. I find from 6-7 if you get it right you can set the wheel and have a nice arc as you accelerate flat out of 6 to clip apex of 7 and straight to 8. Assuming you aren’t battling with anyone of course. I find I can make a ton of time up on in those two corners and catch a lot of people for a pass on the straight.
Thanks Dave, went from barely being able to run 1:23s to being able to rip off 1:22s and consistently stay in the 1:23s. Now to work on race pace/racecraft/adjusting to tire wear/heat.
Noob here, I knew I needed to figure out what gear to be in, and where, seems I overlooked the importance of going back to first, on the 2 corners that cause me the most grief. Thank you very much, I should be 4 seconds a lap faster now, like you just were :D
New to iRacing (played the F1 game for a couple years though) and I LOVE the Miata racing. These guides are very helpful. I'm safely and consistently around 1.24, looking forward to seeing how much this helps. Thanks for the great videos
Thanks Dave. You’re the man that got me into sim racing. Even used your code to buy my first 12 months of iRacing! Great work as always mate. Are we getting one of these on this channel each week?
Awesome guide for people who started with iRacing during winter sales :D Found lots of older guides but most of them had the old h-pattern mx-5 or tyre model. Thank you. Works quite well, managed to get my 22.4 to 21.9
Thanks for the video, thanks for the tips! This track sucks to race just a t1 dive bomb I've been taking out from 1st 3 races in a row now from people just using me to turn! better starting like 3rd a waiting for people to reck!
For those wearing headphones, what is that damn intermittent high pitched "beep beepbeep" in the right speaker that happens only with this car? I can even hear it in the RUclips video.
Was doing 25s/26s before this, down regularly into the 24s now and just did a 23 in my last race. Unfortunately, my rhythm was then disrupted by the car behind completely missing the turn 5 braking point and punting me off into last. Ah well, such is racing!
Steady inputs. If you are too jerky you'll upset the car and kill whatever grip you have. If you find yourself braking at the right time and still entering too fast and understeering you're probably braking too hard. The cx-5 has abs and you want to stay away from it. Steady application to 80% or so should do it. Any oversteer for these fixed setup races is almost definitely from jerky inputs.
It's funny how iRacing can be so realistic and yet so unrealistic at the same time. MX-5s don't use 1st or 2nd gear at Summit Point in real life. But, I guess some of the fun in sim racing is seeing what is achievable with mechanical empathy not being a concern haha. Or seeing what a Global MX-5 would feel like if it actually had paddle shifters instead of the traditional H-pattern with clutch.
@@davecamyt I can see that. I love your videos BTW Dave, they've been a lot of fun to watch while I've been getting things together to start into sim racing.
every time I watch Dave, I gain 0.2 seconds. So I just watch the same clip 5 times and this is instant 1 sec gain :)
Maybe 7months too late, but this deserves WAY MORE likes and watches! Really good
Love this channel! Thanks, Dave.
Thanks for this track guide, still learning new tricks after 11+ years on iracing
Pit exit at Lime Rock Park , you travel back in time one week 🏁
Hell yeah just drove a 1.21.432 and keeping consistent around 1.21.5 thank bro.
Great to hear it!

More good stuff Dave. I’ve watched this a few times while going on track in between. I love the safe in control approach. Keep it up buddy! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it

Perfect 👌
i’m getting stuck at 1:25 1:24 pace, i’m very new to sim racing though, any tips?

Thanks Dave .👍Can you tell me your air pressure in the tires at the beginning and the end ?
Thanks very much
I'm new to your channel. Fantastic guide. Just subscribed.

Thank you. Yes, every week this season. 😁

If you imagine the "cooling tower" to belong to a nuclear power plant, it gives you even more confidence and extra boost.
Damn, I was on pace at Tsukuba, but this one is tricky!

Nice video. As a rookie in iRacing, I will be following these series. One thing though, I keep sliding over the track. Any tips for that?

Guys, i have a doubt. Global mx5 doesnt use the H Pattern anymore?
no. now its sequential

It's a brand new Mazda with a new SQ gearbox. I'm pretty sure it mirrors the real life race car now 👍
@@davecamyt I didn't realize they moved to a SQ trans when they moved away from the NC chassis 👍
@@qspeed_racing I preferred the old one. A bit more character
