Loved the video! Was very helpful. Subbed, and liked, can't wait for more content as WildStar progresses. Maybe a video about your opinion on how the classes are in pvp
Thanks! I'm working on a "battleground strategy guide" series of vids, so class comparison vids might be a ways off, but this might help: A lot of players go Spellslinger early in the game, because it gets a lot of its toys early, so it seems really easy to play and strong in the lower brackets. Its a trap! The class is misleading because Spellslinger doesn't gain as much in raw dps as it levels, which means that it plays very differently (focusing on narrow skill shots) and feels much less powerful in the end game than it does at the start. Other classes, like Esper, are painful to level because they don't get key abilities, mobility, and damage boosts until late in the game... but are really strong at end game. The last minute (beta ops week) changes to Warrior which changed the class ability "power strike" to "rampage" and practically removed the cd on the ability make warrior much more player friendly and a possible "fun at all levels" alternative for those who don't like stealth. I still think Stalker is the best "all around" pvp class because it is great in arena groups, great for ganking, great for 1v1, awesome at snatching control points and masks, and the perfect hidden defender. It plays well at all levels. It kills people quickly and it's fun. The only thing Stalker doesn't do well is fight in a zerg. That being said, the center of every good pvp group is a good healer. You really need heals in this game. Unfortunately, how much fun you have as a healer is directly dependent on how reliable and cooperative the rest of your group is. The "best pvp healing class" is another debate entirely.
CerberusCraven Stalker just underwent a couple of last minute "tweaks" in the Ops-week patch that have the stalker community a little skeptical about they're previous place at the top of the PvP pyramid. The quick version of what just happened is that they reduced stalker dps a little. Before the patch, Stalkers were totally viable as tanks for flag running and keeping enemy players off objectives, even when outnumbered. Combined with stealth they were almost "too" good at it. This, combined with the buffs to warrior, will probably make warrior pull definitively ahead in the tank department. Class balance is always a little volatile right at the release of most games.
Coffee Tea & PvP After labor day weekend warrior got re balanced again (rampage cd increased) and stalker got a little dps back. Lots of last minute changes right before release.
I originally thought this video was going to be stupid considering that a "PvP leveling guide" is basically just repeatedly queue for BG's...but after watching it, there's a lot of great information in here and the dude isn't just talking out of his ass...most of the information is completely correct. Wish I had seen this before I started playing. A different title might be more appropriate but well done sir.
Thank you. This vid was posted just before release, when adventure zones were offering crazy exp and battleground exp was much slower, and rewards were worse. Now it is pretty viable to just level up entirely with PvP, although it does still help to break out and do adventures for a couple levels each new bracket so that you can get some gear updates and not be the carry of your team.
Good video, very informative though personally I hate the face-cam on youtube videos ; p On a side note, for my spellslinger is the most fun in pvp atm though I agree it's not the easiest since he has some hard-to-aim abilities, but if they hit they hurt ; D Also love some of the combos you can do. Like got stunned - void slip - start channeling charge shot and it'll be ready when you leave the void ; 3
I think I will do a mix of pvp and pve leveling. I prefer PVP but for my first character I kind of want to see the storyline and try out all the bosses as I level up. If I roll an alt I will probably focus more on PVP though. Oh and of course I am rolling a stalker because I'm on a PVP server and that it just too much fun to pass up
so too sumerise do bg's at 15 get to the main city and get your house then do bg's until a unlocked an adventure then do that for 5 lvls then go back to bg's rinse repeat am i correct?
It takes about twice as long to level in PvP than it would take in PvE. A really good PvE group who knows all the boss fights and the easiest adventure choices could probably make that gap even wider.
Engineer, particularly "bolt caster spec", is really strong at level 50. It's one of the best classes for arena. Very tanky and the ability to kite your enemies while dealing heavy damage. The class also took a small nerf last week, so it may survive the next big patch without too much of a hit. At level 50, getting a crafted Epochos weapon attachment that has % to snare on hit makes this class even more deadly. (ofc that weapon attachment might get nerfed someday too)
I just got to the 30-49 bracket, i honestly thing it is such bullshit. The people i face are absurdly strong. People have such good gear and hit me for such absurd amount of damage. At this point it not a matter of skill level its a matter of who is higher lvl.
That was always a rough bracket, but its tougher now because a lot of the players in that bracket are running player crafted gear and have every amp they need unlocked. Also the FOTM characters in battlegrounds has gotten pretty out of control. Carbine really let us down with the poor gear and class balancing.
It might be different since I'm a healer, but I've still been top of the heal charts in most of my games at level 30 in the 30-49 bracket. Granted I've been levelling through BGs and have decent gear so that might also skew it.
Thank you for posting the video. Also, very good quality for your first post. Well done!
Good guide and some thought-out tips!
Now I actually want to PvP along with my questing and adventuring.
Subscribed, because why not?!

Thank you for that extra info. What do you think about a stalker tank in pvp

I'll be honest, I hit subscribe only when I saw your user name ^^'
How did you find the leveling time on this sorta play style?
It takes about twice as long to level in PvP than it would take in PvE. A really good PvE group who knows all the boss fights and the easiest adventure choices could probably make that gap even wider.
Thanks for the reply.
Only when you play hardcore PvE only grinding/doing kill quests. PvP matches give a lot of EP, compared to the normal PvE EP, from questing/dungeons.
Geneticser ive got a capped stalker pve leveling is 1hr per level to 45 the 1.5hrs per level to 50 against approx 1.5-2hrs for pvp a level after 20.
What do you think of the engineer in PvP?
