Omg I went to see it in the cinema with my family on New Year's Day and the audience clapped at the end❤ I was so proud seeing the HH and Ghosts crew on the big screen. But I will say, before I knew Simon was the writer and had any lee-way on the casting I thought: 1. The people who cast this definitely love a lot of my favourite comedic and dramatic actors. I'd love to meet them someday! 2. Wow! They REALLY knew how to write and direct Matthew, Simon and Phil to allow them all to shine❤😊 It's so sweet now realising it was the magic of having Simon a part of it! Aw I'm buzzing after this video
I love Mathew Baynton very much I always have and I always will 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖he is the only one I love and look up to
Lovely seeing you guys, I'm an avid Ghosts fan, still watching the re-runs, it's light-hearted and entertaining, and yes, I cried at the Christmas piano singing and the last episode. You're all such talented people 👏❤️
Your podcasts light up my week, thanks Rob. You and Mathew, what a joy, best of British and worldwide comedy. So, so talented both of you, and so humble with it too. Merry Christmas.
Rob, you are a fabulous interviewer and I enjoy all of your podcasts (broadcats? videos?). You have a lovely way of bringing out the best and sweetest of people. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing your work.
I only recently discovered this dude and his colleagues, and I've got to say I feel cheated for having gone so long without knowing about them. It all started with Time Team episodes on RUclips and a growing fascination with British history, and finally the Almighty Algorithm rewarded me with Horrible Histories and various fan supercuts of this weird BBC thing called "Ghosts," WTF is this, it looks cool, holy cr*p this looks fantastic ... And I've turned into a massive fan of these people. Baynton and his other five collaborators are the kind of mind-bending genuises that are so good at so many things that they have to create genres that never existed before because they are all too big to fit into anything that exists already. And they all have that uniquely British ability to combine erudite wit, the music hall, wordplay, pratfalls, heartbreaking poignancy, and fart jokes in a single bit; I'm finding their work outright addictive. The last time I was this keen on anyone's work, it was Robin Williams. The last movie I ever saw was "The Two Towers," and I haven't owned a TV since then, either. And I would watch ANYTHING that those six are in. Baynton et al. are leaps and bounds ahead of literally anything else right now. Someday, they'll be five knights and a dame.
OMG THAT IS YOU !!!!!!! I watched WONKA today and I saw you in the movie, that is amazing cause l like the horrible history very much, and your performance is so nice!! SO happy to see you guys in the movie🤩🤩🤩
It's a shame Brydon skipped over talking about "Bill", which kinda led to Mat doing the same - it's a fantastic but hugely under-rated film which had the worst luck ever, and deserves all the mentions it can get.
I'm glad this interview exists but I wish the host wouldn't constantly interrupt. Almost every single response Mat would give got interrupted by the guy who literally asked the question.
Absolutely loved Ghosts, shades of Rent a Ghost and the Ghosts of Motley Hall, the art of entertaining the parents with risque jokes that go over children's heads isnt dead
Wonka was great. Although it is a bit disturbing that … (spoiler alert) … … … the niece of a well spoken, upper class English speaking, wealthy chocolate maker; raised by a scrubber woman, restricted to a coarsely spoken, lower class English speaking environment; and no evident access to television, RUclips, or TikTok; still managed to grow up with a ‘murkin accent, and mispronouncing the last letter of the alphabet to sound like the third.
If we're starting a list.. Steptoe and Son is the earliest BBC sitcom I'm aware of. I've seen the odd repeat of Hancocks Half Hour as well. They are the two that come instantly to mind, as i sit and think there are others, including current stuff, like Mandy, which I saw for the first time last night, although possibly less working class and more of a character stereotype.. not sure I enjoyed it that much tbh.. possibly because in my own working life I've cone across too many people it could have been baser on
I usually enjoy RB as a host/interviewer, but he missed the mark on this one - interrupting/spoiling the flow and generally coming across as if he was superior to MB.. in conclusion *spoiler alert* much as I enjoy your work Rob, Matt Baynton you ain't! He's younger, funnier, more humble and generous.. Should've just let him answer questions uninterrupted
Ghosts is 100% not made for children. One of the ghosts literally died as he was about to have sex. The humour works for all ages but there are quite a few adult references. It was specifically made for an adult audience.
If you don’t like a celebrity, fair play, people like different things. But I think Mathew Baynton is quite easy to avoid if you’re not a fan? Like, he’s not ubiquitous.

I don’t think I’ll ever love a show more than I love Ghosts. ❤
Possibly Yonderland
Actually for me it's Yonderland
Same
I watched the last episode it was sad 😢
100% agree.😊❤
Yes, I was disappointed with the last one though, I might just pretend it didn’t happen.
There has never been a show that has made me laugh and cry equally as much as Ghosts

Mathew Bayton is fantastic in Wonka! I'm not familiar with British shows but I think it's time to watch everything he's in
He’s fantastic, my favorite show of his is called The Wrong Mans. He’s hilarious and adorable in it. Highly recommend!
@@karmaseventhveil5108 thank you, I'll definitely check it out🥰
"Bill" is a good watch, Matt and all the other idiots are in it xx
Horrible Histories
Horrible historiesss
Absolutely love Mat and his performance in Wonka is so amazing, he’s the reason i watched it and it was so worth it!!!❤
wait the movies already out?

The Wrong Mans - what about that absolute gem!!!
Lolly is fabulous, but I loved Katy Wix even more. I found myself hanging on every word her character said, and I missed her terribly when she left.
I cried.
Yes. It was really sad when she was sucked off.
Katy Wix as Fergie in The Windsors is a hoot too!
ghosts genuinely brought my mum and i properly together for the first time in 27 years. im gutted it's finishing.

I watched wonka last night, it's absolutely brilliant and horrible histories, ghost's,yonderland, bill are also all great shows/films
I appreciate the ongoing committment to not "getting crap."
Lovely seeing you guys, I'm an avid Ghosts fan, still watching the re-runs, it's light-hearted and entertaining, and yes, I cried at the Christmas piano singing and the last episode. You're all such talented people 👏❤️
My two favourite actors talking about my favourite show??? I mean I'm in school but I'm here for it

gods, he's too gorgeous
I love this man so much!!!❤
Love this episode! Love the Horrible Histories/Ghosts crew!

He was so funny as Deano in Gavin and Stacey. I still use the "toffee" line with my mum lol
OMG THAT IS YOU !!!!!!! I watched WONKA today and I saw you in the movie, that is amazing cause l like the horrible history very much, and your performance is so nice!! SO happy to see you guys in the movie🤩🤩🤩
Gutted to be losing Ghosts, but all good things…
...must come to an end :)
Mat is great in A Mid Summer Night's Dream at Stratford, whole cast is superb.
I went and saw it a while back. It was great wasnt it
It's a shame Brydon skipped over talking about "Bill", which kinda led to Mat doing the same - it's a fantastic but hugely under-rated film which had the worst luck ever, and deserves all the mentions it can get.
Love ghosts, and everything you do.
If it weren't for the British talent in this film, it would be just another American over-the-top movie. Brits bring class and soul to any comedy.
Lol Yes of course, such class and such humility too!
British people are way funnier than Americans in my opinion.
Oh stop it, you! 😌 I’m touched
I was thinking for a sec, wondering how they know each other…than I remembered Gavin & Stacy. 🤦♀️
Baynton looks like he could be a younger version of Rob in the thumbnail 😂. Great episode!
I know it shocks me
That's actually quite true.
He will always be Dino to me. Such a small roll but funny.
@ejuicevaper
* baked

My bad, role. Haha

🎄.
Sometimes, auto-correct, incorrectly, does it. 🙃🙂.
Deano
‘Ghosts’ immediately reminded me of ‘The Ghosts of Motley Hall’; Sheila Steafel, Arthur English. Please tell me that this was also an inspiration.
Ghosts could've gone on for so much longer. Why did it have to end 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Rob could play Mathew´s dad, erm, older brother.
I just realised, Rob Brydon looks like Hugh Grant
Hugh Grant’s lawyer will be in touch
Do they really not know they are the six idiots?
Tbf I'm surprised brydons not in wonka, I feel like he should be, it would just make sense
Ive memorised this whole thing help

Scared of the shoes 👟
They look so similar
I legit thought he was Andrew Garfield when I watched Wonka.
Does Brydon let him answer a single question without interrupting? Mildly infuriating!
Wonka was great. Although it is a bit disturbing that … (spoiler alert) …

Rob.....Steve......T5 FRANCE. C'mon lads
Cutie
What about Quacks which was pure genius? Superbly funny but too cerebral for BBC producers?
His role in peep show still annoys me
I wonder if the beeb will ever entertain the idea that working class people can be funny?. I'm not holding my breath!'
Victoria Wood's dinnerladies was on the BBC...

King Gary
Keeping Up Appearances (onslow)
The Royle Family
Rab C Nesbitt
And that’s just off the top of my head!
Elements of Gavin & Stacey is massively working class

Ghosts is a kids show. An OK one, but it's for kids.

Just because it’s not talking about sex all the time, it doesn’t mean that it’s a kid’s show
embarrassing
Are you thinking of Horrible Histories?
Ghosts is no more a kids show than Stath Lets Flats or The Office are.
Older children maybe, I would say that it’s primarily for adults.
Is Baynton the most hateable man in the universe?
no
If you don’t like a celebrity, fair play, people like different things. But I think Mathew Baynton is quite easy to avoid if you’re not a fan? Like, he’s not ubiquitous.
Quite the opposite
Excuse me??
Only to hateful people
