I am so glad you like the sail in. Being an Aussie and a Sydneysider at that, I have done more sailins than I can count, and tend to take it for granted, so thankyou for jolting me back to remembering how lucky I am to live here.
As a Brit who lives permanently in Brisbane I have to agree that sailing in and out of Sydney Harbour is The Best. I have lived/worked there for 13 years as well. I have a favourite little hotel at The Rocks not far from the overseas cruise terminal. If sailing out I can nip down to see the ship early in the morning before checking out. Then walk up to the cruise terminal to check in :) Loving all your cruise and travel coverage 💕
Good video. I was born in Balmain Hospital and my grandparents lived in the Balmain area. My brother and sister in law live in a townhouse in Balmain where we stay when we visit Sydney from Perth. We’ve drunk in the Bald Rock many times. My father worked at Cockatoo Island when it was a Naval Shipyard, building ships and later, Submarines. It’s now a tourist destination with galleries and offering accomodation and glamping.
Great video! I had to dock on White Bay on Oceania too, because all the small ships are sent there, and was very disappointed. That was disembarkation day for us, too. Wonderful that you got to spend three days there on the ship and had such a great view of the fireworks! I spent three days at the Holiday Inn at the Rock (met up with two ladies I met on the ship who were also staying in Sydney), so didn’t get to go to Melbourne. Nice Christmas market right outside my hotel. Last cruise before the pandemic hit, and sadly the harbor was hazy due to the ash from all the horrible forest fires around there then. Would love to go back and see more of Australia-flight back to the US was a killer, though!
The Sail in and out of Sydney harbour is the best I have done too. The Rib & Burger place you ate at, was opposite where I stayed at Rydges hotel pre-cruise on Eclipse and I can confirm it was good. My sister and I developed a liking for TimTams and brought some home. Loved Sydney!!!
We are on the Quest atm and happy to report there has been a dramatic change at Guest Services, very friendly and engaging, so they must have got rid of the rude ones you had 😊
The cruise into Sydney Harbour is both magical and memorable. Really enjoyed your “Down under” journey (both the highs & lows). Happy future sailings. 🙏👍
I've loved your vlogs of this epic cruise and now I'm looking at a similar itinerary from Singapore to Sydney on Princess. Love the banter in your videos.
Hey Guys, what a lovely series to watch. I loved seeing Sydney as I have fond memories of staying close to Bondi myself and I used to walk to the beach every day before breakfast, it was very special and something I'll never forget. Meeting friends along the way is the joy of traveling isn't it, I might even show around Gloucester some day !!! But seriously, thanks for sharing your adventure, it made me realise how much I loved my Australian trip and I really do need to go back again. Take care you lovely people and see you around hopefully one day. Cheers, Vik 👍💕😊
Good memories In 2012 we came in Sydney harbor for New Years. 2 days later I did the bridge climb The fireworks off of the harbor bridge were beyond fabulous 😊
Had great fun watching your video. What a fabulous New Years Eve! Do you have another NYE cruise planned? We've done some Caribbean ones but never been in Port. I'd love to do a similar itinerary.
I have to say I think you made the right decision. I was lucky enough to be in Sydney for new year a few years back and it's so cramped full of people, it worried me the amount of people in a small space. Fireworks were coming off all the buildings around not just the bridge so you will have had an awesome view 💜 You don't see them all from the view points by the bridge.
A lot of cruise ships dock at white bay now. The trick if you want to make sure you dock at circular quay make sure you get on one of the really big ships that does not fit under the harbour bridge.
This must be one of my favourite vlogs from you both, thanks Paul and Carole..Isnt Sydney fabulous? Its also one of my favourite cities I've visited,..I spent 3 months in Oz 2011/2012,and I loved Sydney.I visited all the famous areas etc.but didn't stay there for New Year,I was there a few weeks before,so I watched the fireworks 'live' on Oz tv.from a place near Newcastle NSW...I Skyped my family at Oz lunchtime when it was UK midnight when they were all celebrating New Year,Am looking forward to watching your time in Melbourne, another great city I visited..By the way Carole when I first saw the opera house and bridge,I too had tears in my eyes..
Oh really thats great to hear! It is a fabulous city for sure, lovely you have so many great memories too. It is such a special moment that first glimpse!
Such a thrilling sight! I’m so glad I got to experience sailing in and out of Sydney. We loved Sydney. We stayed for 3 days prior to sailing and had a blast!
Happy New Year guys, even though we have already seen you in the past during 2023 which is in the future to this video 😂 I managed to explain to Clare why you get Pilots on cruise ships but I couldn't answer her other question - on the webcam footage, why did the ship spin around multiple times?
This has been an excellent series thanks guys. As for sail ins, of the 200 or so that we have done all around the world Sydney is definitely our favourite.
Sail in to Sydney was superb and top of our list, we were luckier than you in that we came in early and were treated to a drone light show before seeing the bridge and opera house all lit up before dawn. Our cabin looked straight across at the opera house with all the ferries passing close by. We enjoyed a night at the opera house seeing a production of La Boheme, a walk through the botanical gardens, the art museum, kangaroo burger and wine in the Rocks, a ferry trip to Manly beach and the 1st ice cream of our cruise. Sail in listed 1, Sydney 2, San Francisco 3, New York 4, Singapore Sail away 1, New York - Manhattan skyline at night 2, Southampton - start of exciting voyage, pass QM2 and then fireworks display 3, San Francisco 4, Sydney
Really enjoyed the series guys! Re.sail in, my two faves are Geiranger and New York. Best sail out has got to be Southampton as that’s normally the start😂
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel did a worldie. 12 January to 12 April, had my 12th birthday in Hong Kong, not been on another cruise but thinking of it, just need to decide which one
Iconic sail ins. New York past the Statue of Liberty and one I don't think is now available to most cruise ships, Venice past St Marks Square (done the latter but not the former its on the list though). Kotor is a beautiful sail in but probably not iconic. Keep up the videos we just love watching your channel as you say it how it is, which makes all the difference.
I got up early for the sail in to Sydney Harbour on the Queen Elizabeth, missed going through the heads but still an amazing experience. We were berthing at the International Terminal at Circular Quay. Great views of Kirribilli, the Bridge and the Opera House. Loved it 🥰
I lived in Sydney for 25 years, many of which were in Pyrmont opposite the Fish Markets. A wonderful place to live and definitely spoiled by incredible fireworks over the years. So glad you enjoyed your stay 😊
I;m from Canada. I went on a Fiji, Australia, Hawaii trip. Ir was good to see those places but the bad and sad thing the person who set up the trip did not organize anything.
G'DAY I'm not a Sydney fan, especially at Gigs. I'll tell you about the crowd for JAMES at Sydney v Brisbane one day. If you remove the Opera House and The Bridge, it's not that different to other big cities. I think sailing into New York or Hong Kong or Shanghai could be better. Not done any of those yet, but did see Shanghai from a boat in 2019. Shanghai Disney was Stunning BTW. Bloody brilliant video. Cheers

We've done many sail ins and outs from Sydney but I've never see a ship do a 360 turn before the bridge...that's awesome
It was! Thankfully the Captain got permission!

We sailed out of Sydney in 2019 with Viking for our Australia New Zealand cruise and it is a fantastic experience.
