tested like 20 games eye patch falls off.. on all games my questy 2 right trigger is intermittent i have to pull up the uevr menu to reset the trigger often
Mateo I'm shocked but respect your feelings about this.i played jedi fallen order flat. it will be magic in vr even playing with an xbox controller. To be in that game omg. I agree vr built for vr are best but most are nowhere near the immersion I will get from these triple a games. I'm playing stray as my 1st attempt. No tweaks necessary for me. Maybe you'll change your opinion when u get blown away once or twice by this mod.
@rickaron7593 I've played loads of games today, and I'm understanding all the hype now. It creates VR games in seconds. I played Only up first person, Grounded, Gravel, Little Nightmares and more. It gives them the depth and scale that these games always lacked, love it!!
for me, this mod isnt about "playing more games using vr motion controls"...after playing the latest Tomb Raider games in stereoscopic 3D, THAT is where I want to utilize this mod the most...playing games like Jedi Fallen Order in 3D would be so amazing. I even emailed Sony Santa Monica about adding the 3D option to God of War and they emailed me back saying that is something they will definitely consider. I think in the very least, playing games in 3D should be where most devs(if they are smart) should be paying the most attention to. Just my opinion though...thanks for covering this Matteo
@@Blah64 i believe for cutscenes, you can quickly bring up the injector by clicking the two sticks, and then quickly detach the camera though right? Ive not tried it yet, but thisbis just from some videos ive seen
@Blah64 I thought you can save the set up? There is a save/remember button I believe I saw in a tutorial that saves the set up you like. So you can switch out and then go back to your saved set up. I may be wrong, I have not even tried uevr yet, I have just watched a few of waifu enjoyers tutorials, as he's been testing it for a very long time with praydog.
It's not like that .. there are a lot of games you won't even try on a flat screen, and now I'm looking forward to playing all the games on VR even with a controller. special thanks to all the modders around the world .. they made VR alive !!! Half-life 2 VR a game from 2004 is better than all quest games combined.
Same here. Bought a lot of games just to experience them in the injector: Visage, Scorn, The Chant, Deliver us the Moon, Close to the Sun, Chordosis, Paradise Lost, The Sinking City, Aliens Fireteam. But I like adventures and stunning worlds to explore. Plus about 90% of the build from the ground up for vr games have a lot of jank going on with their motion controls anyways.
yes, the more possible games I find the more interesting UEVR becomes! Sometimes it is mind-blowing how almost flawlessly games work in VR after a few mouse clicks and how much fun they are. Before I would have never touched these titles, but now they transformed into exciting VR titles.
After begging Zen Studios to add VR to Pinball FX, Praydog has done that and so much more. It's amazing being able to play a pinball machine (even real world recreations) now in full 3d. The detail you notice because of it makes you appreciate the crafting even more. I spent my whole New Year's in UEVR heaven. Only issue was that hitting any trigger on my VR controller caused a crash. Had to stick to a game controller...no biggie for pinball sims.
I would start off with 50% and pump it up as you need it. For Automobilista 2, I started with 150% and it was problematic and I dropped it down to 50% and now I'm comfortably using 70%. Big Difference from other headsets and for me a game changer. I also run an exotic wifi 6 system for wifi gaming.
@@Chris-tu3xx so, I'm on a 7800x3d and 4070 with quest via VD and wifi 6. You're saying to go into VD and crank sharpening (and activate snapdragon sharpening (already done)). In SteamVR, lower SS to 50% and see how it looks. Because of this, you get more performance frames from the PC while the Quest and VD do the lifting. Correct?
yup. For me, it is a major performance boost in simulation games. you can keep it at 150% default or 100% for normal vr but 70% is just fine and you get a increase in fps and decrease in reporojection.@@eeeeyuke
@@saudmunawar2050 it's only been around almost a century. Some tables are better than others. When you find the right one, you'll know. Knowing the rule set and where to shoot is essential as well. But hey, some people play Minecraft, and I REALLY don't get that. Peace.
Agree with everything you said, Matteo! Still, the UEVR-mod is nothing short of the best VR news that ever came up since VR is a thing. And that is because it addresses the one single problem we VR enthusiasts WERE still facing ... and that is content! Hardware has reached a quality where improvement is still very welcome (who would say "no" to better quality?) but it is definitely good enough now to absolutely enjoy the games. The only problem up to this point WAS blockbuster-like games. Given the niche, that VR still represents, this won't necessarily change anytime soon. That said, most of my biggest VR experiences stem from Flat2VR games that were never built for VR. So the UEVR mod is a win-win situation. Those Unreal 4/5 games are developed anyway regardless of the VR-market but we'll be able to enjoy those blockbusters in true VR. So, I suppose the "content issue" (the biggest issue we VR enthusiasts faced from the start) has vanished. And for that I praise Praydog and his team. He already demonstrated his status as god among men with his incredible RE engine mods ... now he has reached upper echelon!
100% I ignored all news regarding VorpX for many years, tried many specialized mods for some games, but this is honestly mind-boggling if you took the time and tried a bunch of recommended games from your library, realizing that they are now almost native VR experiences! And not just experiences, full, lengthy PC games. The easiest are racing, third-person played which are not dependend on full 6dof motion controls, but UEVR is so smart to map controls on them. They often work out-of-the-box with no tweaking at all. So often you don't need to switch to a Gamepad or Hotas, if you not want. But also first-person is already very good for some games, where you can independently control your weapon arm with certain UEVR profiles, like Robocop or Trepang 2. Hundreds or even thousands of new VR titles becoming a reality now.
The mod cannot receive enough praise. Of cause, not everything works. Of cause you got to tweak your experience. But there are so many examples, where it just works. My personal fav atm is mechwarrior 5. The existing Mechwarrior vr mod has already received an update and is based on the uevr now. It works like a charm. The performance is so much better than before the uevr mod and the game looks gorgeous. In combination both mods make mw5 feel like a native experience as long you are in the cockpit of you mech. And this is only one out of a big number of games, that work really great.
When I first loaded Fallen Order into this I was mindblown. Took the headset off my face and put hands on my mouth in amazement. This is a true game charger. It's incredible. We don't deserve PrayDog.
@@basketcas3717 I think eventually most of the popular games will have configs already set up for first person camera, so you can just pop in the config and it will be first person... For now you have to do it yourself in the advanced settings.

@@Gamingwithmatteo311 Come on... UEVR is so much better than vorpx. You gotta go to the level of "they both add 3d to games" to compare them at all. Performance, usability, percentage of games working right out of the box, configurability and most of all results of UEVR are so much better. These two are world apart. I am with you, that vorpx isnt worth it. But UEVR definitively is. I have played no native VR game, since it was published. But a played through ABZU, have penty of hours in MW5, Lies of P, Returnal and alot of other games.
@74amazing I have nearly 800 steam games and rai pal only gave 3 of them an A rating for uevr. Only one I'm interested in playing was fire team. I can go on and on but let's leave it at, not really for me. I just don;t see myself using it. From a technical standpoint it's absolutely amazing, though
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 I don't want to convince you to use it. My point is: You cannot compare it to vorpx. The quality and performance of the moded games are worlds apart.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 I do not want to convince you to use it. I just don't think, that you answer to PD is valid. It is like: " I don't like that Aston Martin Valor. I know you have always been a big fan of driving a 2000er Ford Fiesta, so it make sense that you like it."
The vast majority of us pc players love tweaking and love mods, why else buy a pc? There may be a little bit of jank, but there was a little jank in the Half Life 2 mods, but they are by far my favourite vr experiences of all time that I don’t see ever being topped. Vertigo 2 was close, but playing classics in vr is a dream come true. They are working on a mod for the unreal engines prior to the ones this one covers.
Good take but for me personally the magic of VR is mostly being immersed into the worlds visually. I get a high every time I realize my brain actually think's I'm perceiving things in the real world. I also don't mind playing games in third person or even topdown and there are so many high quality flatscreen games that I want to play anyways. This isn't standalone which is the majority of the market now so it's nice for pcvr to have a win again. The project is open source and maybe games with mod tools can enable more native VR like experience like raft or valheim which are frankly better than most VR native games.
Racing, Flight Sims, third-person, yeah works often very well. But if it comes to first-person, especially shooters a 6dof hand movement becomes basically mandatory to make it fun. Trepang 2 is a very good example, it is a chore with a fixed weapon arm to camera, but gets really fun with actually aiming with independent motion controls.
I think the value this adds to porting is underrepresented. The big thing this does is it simplifies full VR mod ports. Like take for example Deep Rock Galactic. The VR mod is impressive and was built for VR with a ton of customization to make it work. IE not just a flat screen experience in VR. The injector will help out modders get a huge amount of heavy lifting done and then just focus on the additional fixes for VR. IE better UI elements, controls, etc.
That's not really the case. This is straight from Praydog "This makes UEVR a much better tool for testing your UEVR game in VR initially, but wasn’t designed to be an UE dev tool." " in its current state, it’s only made for compiled games."
Hmm not really what I am meaning. What I'm saying if that if you combine Praydog's injector with a mod that is designed to work alongside Praydog's. IE a mod that overhauls the UI or interactions that is then ran WITH the injector. You could have some really good almost native feeling games.@@Gamingwithmatteo311 To bring up the DRG VR mod. It's kind of a pain to setup and even once setup getting into VR in the game takes some effort that is annoying. I'm sure the modders did their best but they both had to figure out the VR aspects, 6DOF, motion controls and rendering IN ADDITION to the VR specific tweaks they did with the hud and keybinds/gestures. With this injector that potentially removes a huge amount of work that modders will need to do as they can just say using Praydog's injector is required and here is a premade profile for it.
I think he is speaking about modders, you can add c++ and even blueprint direct on top not just profiles made in UEVR but actually adding in additional VR specific features
@@ImmersiveGamer83 Right. This is open source. So the existence of this project will surely help make future mods much easier to develop. Whether they run on top of UEVR or are standalone. Here's a bunch of code that does the low level legwork so other mod developers don't have to keep reinventing the wheel. That should open the door for making more elaborate mods more easily which can focus on making flat games play like native VR games.
We just have different preferences. The best you can get from UE mods will be something like GTFO VR mod. Full motion controls+6DOF with modern graphics. I’m bit like Metto, native VR games attract me more, even with mobile graphics.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 No I'm serious, I love playing computer games in VR. Particularly as I have some arthritis and joysticks as found on controllers are particularly bad for that. But this let's me play games in VR.
RTX 3060 costs less than a Steamdeck 😉 UEVR’s API can be used to make a fully fledged port. Wait and see 🎉 (would appreciate a credit considering all the clips of mine you used). What games did you play as well? Not sure what was footage you recorded yourself during the video? The profiles we sent you for things like Aliens and Returnal work automatically on startup.
I've been really sick for over a week now so I tested a bunch of games I own including fire team but haven't recorded anything as I wasn't originally planning a video until multiple people asked me to do it.
There's certainly a bit of hoop jumping to get UEVR working, although actually less than I had to do to get the REAL VR mod working for GTA V or even to get Subnautica working properly in VR (which needed mods to work properly, despite supposedly having native VR support). You do indeed have to choose games that play well to the immersion of VR, that have suitable control schemes and that don't rely on the flat screen perspective for things like culling scenery, objects or NPCs. I've only dipped my toes in with Abzu, and to get that working thankfully I had the instructions in the discord. It required running the game in windowed mode, increasing all the settings to ultra, selecting the synced sequential mode in UEVR, deselecting the "ghosting fix", turning the water reflections to 0 with the console and motion blur to 0 with the UEVR slider. About half an hour of messing around including the initial UEVR install, although once I had it working it's now only a couple of minutes to get the game loaded and playing in VR. Abzu in VR was excellent, playing like a cross between Moss (without the "reader" interactions) and a friendly Subnautica. It's still culling some of the fish (not all, usually the schools) when they would be outside a flatscreen perspective, but surprisingly it's not completely immersion breaking. Definitely not for plug and play console gamers or other people that aren't used to, or intereseted in, messing with PCs, game settings, mods, launch options and the like, but if you've been involved with PC gaming and mods for any amount of time, UEVR is actually amazingly streamlined for this sort of thing.
Found one of your comments there so relatable - when I was younger I absolutely LOVED modding and tweaking. Everything, from games, to any obscure system setting I could get my hands on. These days I don't even change my desktop wallpaper. I also want "turnkey" experiences, and things that just work. But with that said I am looking forward to sinking a ton of time into this.
Wow, what a coincidence for me to have just turned off my PC after trying UEVR for the first time (I got Industria for free on the EPIC games), then opening RUclips and clicking on this video, and realizing that I have the exact same opinion that you gave at 7:30. It's definitely not a controversial opinion; what you said makes complete sense! The UEVR games are still made for flat screens, which makes a huge difference compared to VR games. For example, there was a cutscene during my playthrough where the character started to move her head around, and I had to close my eyes until the end to avoid motion sickness (that would never have happened in a game made for VR). I played for around 1 hour, and I'm feeling motion sickness triggering, and keep in mind that the person who is speaking plays 2 hours of Asgard Wrath 2 dashing non-stop and doesn't get even slightly dizzy. I have tons of games on standalone and PCVR, and for me, it doesn't make sense to play UEVR.
I agree with your opninion at the end of the video. Thats probably why I havent been hard on mods to begin with. This also goes for the Dr. Beef ports. Appreciate the work they do to bring older titles in vr and in this case new titles, or any unreal-based game playing in VR. A PROPER VR port for me is RE4 on Quest. A brand new rebuilt weaponsystem, with manual reloading, holsters. Doors beeing able to be opened. Remodeled cupboards with original visuals and textures with doors that can open. Totally new menu system catered to work in VR. Thats a great experience. But I'm happy people are loving this mod injector.
If I can play something in "first person" VR w/ motion controls instead of on a monitor, that's how I'm gonna do it. For me, it's just a better way to game. Am I going to do the modding? No, not unless I find something that needs very minor tweaks to work on my specific hardware. I'll let people who are good at it perfect the experiences they want to play and then I'll borrow their profiles. It's win win win.
The gaming companies should be sending praydog some money and a thank you card. Cause people going to be buying games like crazy just to use the injector.
Man, most VR games you can beat in 3 days of playing. The new lego game out has an astounding 10 hours of gameplay! Aside from AW2 most single player VR games are basically demos.
@ianwatson5767 Your 3 days of playing is more like 1 month or more for me, considering I play Breachers, Contractors, Demeo, Walkabout Mini Golf and all the ForeVR game titles with family on a regular basis. One example, I played Asgard's Wrath 2 two weeks ago, and I haven't touched it since, but not because I didn't like it. I loved it! Just haven't gone back to it. Got work and kids (1 with special needs) in between these games as well.
@@Armis71 I feel you, that's a good problem to have though. Haha. I basically won't buy a game that has less than 20 hours of gameplay bc I don't want to finish it in 2 weeks. Love walkabout golf though!
There is already a datebase of games and configs in the works so we can probably expect overall effort needed to use the mod minimized in a short time. I wait for that, but Rai Pal already offers starting games with proper config auto-downloaded. Worked with Postal 4 way better, than trying to start it on my own. If the industry won't try to fight it, it will be a thing for sure.
Praydog's UEVR, was never going to be for everyone. Even in the PCVR community not everyone is going to jump on because they don't want to have to tweak things. Up to now I have only used one Modded PC VR game, Skyrim. It took a lot to get it where I have it now but I loved it once I got there. However, I didn't run out and start playing other modded VR games. The great thing about the UEVR is it does give an open door for people to try some AAA games in VR. I have always wanted to play an Alien game in VR, and now I can, and it only cost like $5 on Steam. I will still be playing Asgard's Wraith II for a long time to come as well. I think the UEVR and AW II are wonderful examples of what can be done in VR with the current tech and I think it helps satisfy players who are looking for something deeper then a lot of the standalone games had provided.
I have not used UEVR yet, but do have some Bike racing Unreal Engine games that would work with this MOD. I will get UEVR in the near future and will see how well it does work. My PC and GFX card should be powerful enough for games to work. Thanks for the video. Take care.
Good to hear your voice again, Matteo; glad you're getting better. This sounds fascinating, and I will probably give it a go if only to experience being in some of the amazing worlds that many flat games have to offer. But, like a number of the other commenters on here have said, it's unlikely that I'll use the injector on a consistent basis. Hell, I'm just now getting the chance to get back into VR after around a 2-month hiatus, due to family issues. Since these sorts of interruptions have become quite common over the last couple of years, well... let's just say my backlog of VR games that I either haven't yet finished, or haven't even had the chance to crack into, has gotten quite ridiculous. I'm thrilled and tremendously appreciative of the work that Praydog and others are doing on behalf of VR, and I hope he and other developers will refine this tool and use it to find ways to turn great flatscreen games into genuine VR properties with greater ease, efficiency, and excellence. But my participation, I'm afraid, will mostly have to be cursory--unless I suddenly find a way to become triplets! Great discussion, as always, Matteo; thanks for the info and the assessment.
Nvidia 3D Vision and the 3D modding community have been enjoying AAA games in 3D for a very, very long time. I've been playing for years on my projector. Welcome to club, VR peeps. =D I still think I will prefer playing on my projector over having a headset strapped to my face for this purpose.
Absolutely right! Good VR games have to be designed for VR. This tool is only for hardcore PCVR Gamers, who have played everything and want to test, experiment, and ticker with new stuff around - but it's not for those who want smooth VR experiences.
Just try a racing game like Gravel or Hot Wheels Unleashed or third-person games like Crash Bandicoot 4, Vampyr, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order or Biomutant. All these games run almost without any tweaking with UEVR. They turn these games immediately into exciting VR experiences. The universal mod is very easy to use in comparison to other mods or vorpX.. not just for hardcore gamers. Couldn’t disagree more. There are features for us nerds, to attach weapons to hands and stuff, but many games don’t even need that. I had many times just to hit the inject button and was in native looking VR.
@@tinovfr i have tryed Stray (works but makes problems with some shaders, cutscenes and the camera movement in third person is not made for VR (after 40 min. I switched back to 2D and it was way better to play). Jedi Survivor didn't work at all?. WRC Rally makes massive problems (performance and camera)... I have not that much time to game in VR so I'm not interessiert to tweek long time around. The interface of UEVR has also much space to improve.
I'm pretty impressed with some experiences. Comanche works good in the cockpit. The aliens views are reminiscent of the l4d2vr mod which was Excellent once you implemented a few workshop mods. But this definitely helps fill some lack of love on the pc side that I've seen of late.
PCVR has been forgotten about , everything is mobile first and IF we are lucky they will push it to pc. I am also old but I am prepared to do some work to play triple a games on pc with crazy detailed assets, i would say that 6dof proper aiming and shooting is best for games that have guns and not manual reloading is minor. I tried atomicvheart and that opening blew me away.
The benefit of this is showing developers how easy it will be to add vr natively and show sony how they can convert to vr easily. It also shows 3d gaming in a headset is a nice bonus fpr say the psvr2. On a giant screen its dope af.
You forgot to mention one important thing. This is 💯% FREE for people to use and Try out. Sure it isn't for everyone and I agree. I want games that are made for VR and ready to go without any tweaking. But, what this does is transform games that weren't made for VR to be playable in VR. Kind of like Luke Ross been doing but, without the cost of admission. I haven't try'd it yet due to my busy schedule but, I ❤ the fact it is available for us to try out. It is a game changer meaning it changes a lot of games by being able to play them in a new perspective. I am excited to try out Hogwart's Legacy in VR. So I can compare it to Luke Ross's mod. But, I understand, what you're saying it sucks spending lots of time tinkering with settings to get it all right. When you only have a limited amount of time. Sometimes, you just want to get in and play for some quick fun. Hope you get to feeling better. Happy New Year! 🎉🥳
If we had a steady flow of 'made for vr' PCVR content I wouldn't be as interested in UEVR. But as we hardly get anything of any quality anymore besides crappy quest ports these days, UEVR is sadly much needed for PCVR gamers.
I don't think it matters if it is full motion control or you need to use a gamepad. It is undeniable that seeing the game in VR is still way better than flat screen. And as new ones come out, you will play them from the beginning in the VR perspective.
This VR mod is filling a gap that developers and studios unfortunately aren’t able to fill and that’s converting their old games into VR games. This mod isn’t perfect, but it does an excellent job at getting you to close enough before you’d need to get the real dev team involved. I see this as an absolute win and if we support this more, maybe it can push companies to supporting modding as a standard! As long as it’s not capitalized on and monetized 😅
Some of the best VR games in history were made for flatscreen. GT7, RE4R, HALF-LIFE 2… I’m all for interaction, but you are off your rocker here. Good video breakdown, but you lost me when you dismissed what are functional AAA hybrids. I mean WTF. I hope you feel better and have a better new year, regardless.
I didn't dismiss hybrids. The Universal mod injector is not hybrids. GT 7 was made with VR in mind. The RE4 port on quest took years, again the remake was made with VR in mind for the PSVR2. Half-life 2 ported over extremely well but this more of just a great game, not specifically a great VR game. The problem with hybrids is the don't incentive anyone to buy the VR platform. If you already played a game on flat screen there is 0 reason to go out an buy a 500+ device just to replay a game.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 - Wow. So, Obviously GT7’s VR Showroom and detailed interiors are awesome aspects of the game that won’t likely be present in a flatscreen racing game, but you can play in 3rd person using the mod and have everything feel NATIVE. The RE4 port on Quest might have taken years, but that says nothing about what this mod does. It’s neither here nor there. RE4R on PSVR2 was NOT really designed with VR in mind, and it only took a number of months to port. They changed some puzzles and added the basic weapon-handling, but they didn’t do anything major, opting to throw you into 3rd person instead of adding VR climbing, kicking, or cutscenes. Thus actually underscores my point that despite being basic in its VR interactions, it’s still an incredible VR ride. And yes - the UE IM is functionally making all these games hybrid games. If you’re saying they aren’t hybrids then I don’t understand your definition. My definition is any flatscreen game that is also playable in VR. As I stated, this might mean that a particular game won’t have certain things an official hybrid would (like a detailed passenger seat), but that’s just gonna be the occasional thing in the occasional game. I expect most such occurrences will be pretty forgivable. After all, RE4R doesn’t even let you get realistically close to a table, and you cannot grab that axe or that shiny boot, you get pulled out if 3D and are forced to watch a 2D screen at any cutscene - talk about breaking immersion, but it’s still *EASILY* one of the best games in VR to date. Would I prefer if RE4R let me touch everything in the world like HL:ALYX? *Absolutely*. Would I avoid playing it because I’m old and want unbroken immersion? *Not on your life*. And I’m sorry… that last bit about why would anyone bother to play a game in VR that they’ve already played on flatscreen… That is a pretty bonkers thing for anyone who plays VR to say. Why would anyone replay TLOU Remake? Because it’s a way better version of a great game - that’s why. I haven’t given two shits about a flatscreen game in seven years, except if I thought it might get a VR mode/version someday. It’s also disconnected from the gaming market in a profound way, because hybrid modes of familiar and beloved AAA flatscreen titles or IP’s are PRECISELY the biggest draw for those who are new to VR. People BUY systems to replay GRAN TURISMO or NO MAN’S SKY… they BUY systems to play HORIZON or ASSASSIN’S CREED. The general flatscreen community WANTS known quantities to entice them into the expensive realm of VR, with all its barriers-to-entry and unfamiliar controllers and lesser graphics and motion-sickness. They want something they know and trust. ASGARD’s WRATH 2 will sell some Quest 3’s but GTA6 (if it gets a VR mode) would sell every PSVR2 they ever make, even if it’s two years after the flatscreen launch. Anyways. Weird take. 🍻
@CHROME-COLOSSUS some of my statements were misrepresented. I didn't say people wouldn't be interested in trying their flat games in VR, what I said is people don't go out and buy VR to then replay games. This is where it fails to grow the vr industry. HLA launched - 1 million people new players got into pcvr Resident evil 7 is a launch title for psvr, 500,000 people buy a psvr in the first few weeks. UEVR launches 12k+ people who already have pcvr download the app and test some games they already have. Even if they do buy new games for it, they are buying flat games, still not helping vr grow. Your GTA would be an example of a true hybrid. Everyone who owns psvr2 would buy it for sure, would people buy a psvr2 if gta 6 came out in 2024 but the vr version came out in 2025, very questionable. Also that wouldn't be a mod, it would be a true hybrid game. Optimized and customized beyond what uevr can do
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 - I already was pretty articulate here, and there’s no point in rehashing what I already said. If you think VR modes added to huge AAA flatscreen games years after launch won’t sell VR to new people, fine. We disagree. Glad you made the video, perplexed you dismiss it at the end. Fine. Be well, heal that toe, and wherever your gaming snout leads you I hope it’s wonderful days. 🍻
We do disagree on that point then but what we do need to point out is UEVR is not VR modes added to games years later. It's a mod that will always have questionable support, performance and stability. I'd happily be wrong here. I'm down for anything that grows the VR industry but I've spoken to a lot of industry insiders and I've seen plenty of stats. Even if Valve did something like integrate UEVR directly in SteamVR, I still don't see it making a huge impact. @@CHROME-COLOSSUS
I think my primary train of thought looking to use UEVR would be “I wonder what it would be like to be inside this world/area/game” and that’s pretty much it. Playing a full game regardless of its support or lack there of might be a rare occurrence for me
I agree. But also believe that this mod is also important to that point. Because if it can get enough people to try this mod it will show developers that people want vr games
@@basketcas3717 Yes, this is the key point. When some developers start noticing that a high number of players are playing their game in VR some of them might try and accommodate players in their next release.

It's a bit weird to hear that from you with all the videos you posted about the best vr mods released every past years. Even, if you are right about the lack of immersion in these modded games, it remains a wonderful tool and, something which is really strange, it allows to play flat games in VR with so beautiful graphics that you would not get in native vr games. So many people say that re 4 and re 8 village on psvr2 are so great, but in the end, these games are just flat games which can be played in VR as well.
In hindsight I would have discussed things a lot further but I was super ill when I filmed this. The hurdles are still more than what the average person is willing to mess with. Its not as simple as some other mods, performance varies greatly and it's just not for me
Hey, old man Matteo. Old man Florian here. 😂 I feel the same. I hardly have the time to tackle half the awesome native VR experiences that I still haven't played yet. So yes, I might jump into this for fun and to try it out. But it's probably not the game changer for me that it will be for others...
Completely agree. I don't even have time to play the great made-for-VR games, and simple viewpoint changes is not what I am looking for when I jump in. So if I do have time I won't be using this injector. But it is great that it exists and who knows, maybe it will overall be a new entry point to VR. Get well soon! ❤
One of yhe great potential of this mod is opening the eyes of the developers that VR doesn't need to be FPS. That said and having played re3 remake and re8 flat first, not liking both, in fact I've never even finished re8, then playing in VR with motion controllers, that transformed a "meh" experience in to a great one. I understand that you decided to have your target public to be the "questers" and that's only logical, because that's where the majority of the audience is and most of them would not like to see you praising pcvr games like you used to. Praydogs mod just is able to transform ok experiences in flat to amazing experiences in VR with minimal tweeking, if anybody has a chance to try it, be it with cloud PC or have a good gpu, there's absolutely no reason not to.
I personally think people are sleeping on the simple concept of playing traditional 2d games with a controller only wearing a headset to get the real first person perspective. Soooo many people don't wanna be swinging their arms around and doing all this nonsense just to play a game. Modding in motion controls is a cool gimmick but I think thats too janky.
After fiddling for an entire evening to make work a game the way I wanted, and failed...I'll have to agree with what you said. Sadly. Praydog did an amazing job and deserves all the praise he gets, and my only hope is that VR devs will take note and develop epic native VR titles.
I think the solution is for a very niche audience who suffer from no motion sickness on quest 3 found the solution very hit or miss. Sure you can bring it up in 3d but it's not really playable. It's yet another example of U-Toob Hit people over-selling something. It's not a game changer it's a work in progress. I have to give you credit you are telling it like it is. Despite U-Toob hit pieces using works like "massive improvement, this is huge", it's not. At this time it's just a fancy POC demo. If you play this for an hour you'll be puking buckets. With that said much like the Steam Deck it does give VR users hope for PCVR and we need it.
Great. Having bought a VR headset last year I was so disappointed by the gaming quality, focus of these VR games. So limited in comparison to conventional games. This mod sounds very promising.
Broken toe? Did you accidentally kick the furniture again 😂. Thanks for the information about this mod, i was wondering about how it actually works when i first heard it.
Until I can get an upgrade some games will work on my weak 1080ti. I'm playing stray and it works beautifully. Out of 1000s of games I bet there will be a reasonable amount that will work on my pc. Down the road of this year I'll buy a 4070 graphics card.
That's great that a card like that can handle Stray in VR and perhaps others. Some people are being foolish dialing up all the graphics settings on a lot of these games. Classically, you always want to bring your shadows down to the minimum and it usually brings your fps up much higher. There is so much potential available here even with a 1080ti. But the high end games will struggle without a RTX 4080 or 4090.
You can use virtual desktop maxing out streaming to godlike, enabling sharpness to max and enabling sharpening on the snapdragonon the quest 3. In steamVR, drop down the SS to 70% ON A 3090 GRAPHICS CARD or 50% on lower end. what this does, is offload all the power from the pc to the headset since its sharpening the graphics already. If you use boboVR, disable 120hz on qest 3 and it bumps up the battery life charging instead of draining. the result is longer playtime and a godlike visuals of sharpness.
So, I did some further research, and apparently, the snapdragon sharpening doesn't have an effect when setting VD to ultra or godlike. It does increase anything under that to ultra. So...let me know if you agree. The take away I got is that setting to medium or high in VD is the best use of snapdragon sharpening (which would in turn increase performance while upscaling to ultra quality).
I tried it with atomic heart and ready or not but just not happy with the graphics, things in medium distance away have ghosting or blurry look to them. Its just not crisp.

I think PSVR2 and Quest 3 owners are kidding themselves. If they had access to all these games, they wouldn't do a little tinkering to get them to work? Gtfoh. What the hell is Sidequest? It's tinkering to have access to more VR games not available on their platform.
I think you're missing a big piece here ALL(ish?) NEW UE PC GAMES ARE INHERENTLY PCVR TOO now And its significantly cheaper and easier for them to streamline a quality VR mode for their games if they wish like many Sim racing games do With fully integrated VR features and interactive capabilities
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 so they would need to pay Praydog royalties in order to use the mod to streamline a higher quality built in VR mode? Is that it or What am I missing exactly? As a petty 2d dev I'm curious
No, the mod only works for compiled games. You can't use the mod to add VR components the recompile, repackage and distribute. It ONLY works as an external secondary application. @@waderobinson9218
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 but you could build assets, objects, and engine responses (namely physics) meant for VR then utilize them when they're made and loaded specifically with a custom exe on the Injector correct? @@Gamingwithmatteo311 the point is that it gives game developers a painless way to experiment with adding vr features to their game. Its also straight forward for them to write plugins for the injector to do whatever they want
I was fairly confident that this video would not contain mention of Asgards Wrath 2 and yet 8:11 there it is. Such a pity Matteo, I used to respect you. Total hack.
Sorry but asgard 2 is a prime example of how vr games should be made. End of story. What does mentioning the game have to do with anything. I also mention astro bot and moss
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 are you serious?or more likely on metas payroll, that game has barely any VR interaction you just swing to slash for 99.99% of the game but there is no collisions like in blade and sorcery and it looks absolutely HIDEOUS
@Diabolik1235 the people who say metas payroll are so clueless on how the industry works. I've been accused of being on pico's, valves and metas payroll. The internet just doesn't let you have an opinion. In term of interaction, AW2 is fantastic. You are smacking back enemy attacks, changing your sword in a whip and using it pull yourself toward enemies, calling forth the power on your God with special attacks and much much more. On top of that it features some of the best cut scenes and story telling vr has ever had. Blade and sorcery has a great physics system but not much else

its vr point and click. racing games with a wheel mech games with a hotus would be nice
we just need mods to add vr puzzles in the games
I didn’t think it was anything special until I loaded up Trepang 2, and it just worked perfect. Not all games work but the ones that do are a gem
That's on their recommended list. I'm not familiar with the game, I need to check it out
Tried the demo with the mod last night. It's excellent!

same here, when I could freely move my weapon arm it became the perfect "John Wick experience" .. just possible in VR!
for me, this mod isnt about "playing more games using vr motion controls"...after playing the latest Tomb Raider games in stereoscopic 3D, THAT is where I want to utilize this mod the most...playing games like Jedi Fallen Order in 3D would be so amazing.
Agreed. I loved the 3D gaming on ps3.
First Person VR Fallen Order is pretty amazing for most gameplay, but it has a lot of cut scenes and they are just broken with such a camera. =(
@@Blah64 i believe for cutscenes, you can quickly bring up the injector by clicking the two sticks, and then quickly detach the camera though right? Ive not tried it yet, but thisbis just from some videos ive seen
@@royrogers495 yes, but then it forgets the attached camera offset, so I can't quickly/easily jump back into first person
How is pinball fun at all? I don't see the appeal. Seems so boring.

@@basketcas3717 for what i understand, you can put in first person yourself.

You've always been a big fan of vopx which I couldn't stand, so this makes sense
You could have some really good almost native feeling games.@@Gamingwithmatteo311
To bring up the DRG VR mod.
For me the best vr experiences I have had have primarily been flat2vr mods…
We just have different preferences. The best you can get from UE mods will be something like GTFO VR mod. Full motion controls+6DOF with modern graphics. I’m bit like Metto, native VR games attract me more, even with mobile graphics.
Best game I've played this year is Portal 2 VR.
Resident Evil Village and GT7 are great examples.

@@Gamingwithmatteo311thought that may have been the case! No problem rest up and hope you have a chance to try it out more when you feel better ❤
Considering what theyve accomplished - which will only improve - I think youll be eating your words down the line
I haven't tried it but in my opinion from what I see this is probably the best experience to play flat screen games.
This is awesome! I've really been having fun playing around with it and I might finish a few games like this.
The mod looks amazing, great work!
Those games would hve been bought regardless
@@theclassicgamer20 in what reality you live in?
I won't try this because I don't even have the time to play all the VR games I have.
Same here. I have a pile of VR games I just haven't had time to beat.
Man, most VR games you can beat in 3 days of playing. The new lego game out has an astounding 10 hours of gameplay! Aside from AW2 most single player VR games are basically demos.
Depends on difficulty level. Its taking me a ling time to beat sniper vr winter. But in theory you can finish it in a few hrs
Take care.
I like your video's. Today however it just sounded like you watched the SteveKnows video and said the same things.
Steve is my buddy but I haven't watched his video. We are actually working on something together right now
I played through Little Nightmares 2 with very little tweaking and it was amazing. I think the experience will vary depending on the game
Well at least this year can only get better for ya. Thanks for the deep dive!
I used to use Nvidia 3D vision. results we meh
i tried it, and it wasnt for me either, il stick with plug and play native games
Your loss. You'll be missing out on soooo many titles. I think i will gaming 90% with this mod and the rest between PSVR2 and Quest 3 titles.
You forgot to say 11000 games, mr cultist
The mod is a visual feast, wow!
The mod's visuals are truly impressive
Someone already got gta san andreas working with this and we still waiting for rockstar and meta lol
They’re gonna be madddd
I'm personally all for the stereoscopic experience more than the "VR" interaction part.
Exactly, just being immersed in the game world, even with vanilla controls, is an upgrade to the flat screen version
Bruh we get it, it ain't for you. Didn't have to make an 11 min video repeating that. lol
I dont mention any of that until the end of the video.
checked Lies of P and oh my gosh, what a game changer.
The benefit of this is showing developers how easy it will be to add vr natively and show sony how they can convert to vr easily. It also shows 3d gaming in a headset is a nice bonus fpr say the psvr2. On a giant screen its dope af.
one great experience with the new mod is Scorn
Thank you for the kiwi strap mod, it’s been excellent for me.
More ASMR please 😏 thanks for covering it, great nuanced take!
GT7, RE4R, HALF-LIFE 2…
I’m all for interaction, but you are off your rocker here.
And I’m sorry… that last bit about why would anyone bother to play a game in VR that they’ve already played on flatscreen…
That is a pretty bonkers thing for anyone who plays VR to say.
HLA launched - 1 million people new players got into pcvr
Resident evil 7 is a launch title for psvr, 500,000 people buy a psvr in the first few weeks.
The games I play on here are way better than anything made for VR. It's not even close.
I think my primary train of thought looking to use UEVR would be “I wonder what it would be like to be inside this world/area/game” and that’s pretty much it. Playing a full game regardless of its support or lack there of might be a rare occurrence for me
Same
Eh, seems like it it works well for whatever game, even if it's just gamepad control, it's an upgrade over the flat screen version.
I do agree with what you said. As amazing as this piece of software is, we should be pushing for innovated VR originals
I agree. But also believe that this mod is also important to that point. Because if it can get enough people to try this mod it will show developers that people want vr games
@@basketcas3717 Yes, this is the key point. When some developers start noticing that a high number of players are playing their game in VR some of them might try and accommodate players in their next release.
Games I got bored with or didn't get into on console will be amazing with a new perspective
I didn’t learn that with my quest two I can play warthunder vr from any of y’all vr RUclips guys but I figured it out myself
Pls try bramble the mountain king in VR on a powerful PC, it is defiantly better than many original VR games in the same genre.
Super useful 👌
Thanks great vidéo
for some reason it doesn't work it keeps saying : openxr is not loaded couldn't create openxr instance openvr is not loaded openvr_api.dll not found what is the problem here ?? (i am using quest 3 and openxr) after i deleted xr folder it says: OPENXR error form factor unavailable do you have any idea how to fix that ? i installed openxr and the same games works fine with other people but not with me
It's a bit weird to hear that from you with all the videos you posted about the best vr mods released every past years.
Its not as simple as some other mods, performance varies greatly and it's just not for me
Only one game makes me want to try this and that's Stray. Is it worth just for that, personally I'm not sure
I thought Stray, Little Nightmares, and Gravel were great out of the box. But yeah, it's mostly side scrollers that work best.
Does it only work for Steam Unreal games? What about other storefronts like Microsoft, GOG, Epic, EA?
All other stores
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 cool thanks!
My potato isn’t good enough for this so I’m going to go through my backlog of games.
I just want to walk around RDR2 in VR. Make it so.
Unfortunately RDR2 doesn't use Unreal, it's Rockstar's own engine, so it'd require a specific mod. :(
@@GreyMatterShades Sure, sure, but a fella can _want_ anyway.
@@ZenSponge Oh for sure. RDR2 could be incredible in VR!
Luke Ross mod then, still working if u can find the flies.
The LRmod still works and there are videos of how to make it so for every update
After fiddling for an entire evening to make work a game the way I wanted, and failed...I'll have to agree with what you said. Sadly. Praydog did an amazing job and deserves all the praise he gets, and my only hope is that VR devs will take note and develop epic native VR titles.
Like all tech, this is the worst it will ever be going forward.
I got a bunch of "vr" games from the steam sell. Then found out most dont work with my quest 3. So hope this can help.
Spot on.
What SS would you recommend for a 4070? Same (70%)?
So, I did some further research, and apparently, the snapdragon sharpening doesn't have an effect when setting VD to ultra or godlike. It does increase anything under that to ultra. So...let me know if you agree. The take away I got is that setting to medium or high in VD is the best use of snapdragon sharpening (which would in turn increase performance while upscaling to ultra quality).
@@eeeeyuke I'll verify today when I get home. It worked for me last I checked.

What about motion sickness ?
Always a potential problem for those who experience it
I think PSVR2 and Quest 3 owners are kidding themselves. If they had access to all these games, they wouldn't do a little tinkering to get them to work? Gtfoh. What the hell is Sidequest? It's tinkering to have access to more VR games not available on their platform.
They have pre-made profiles on the discord server making it so easy
It's still a lot of friction for average users
I think you're missing a big piece here
ALL(ish?) NEW UE PC GAMES ARE INHERENTLY PCVR TOO now
And its significantly cheaper and easier for them to streamline a quality VR mode for their games if they wish like many Sim racing games do
With fully integrated VR features and interactive capabilities
not exactly true. The mod injector in not intended to be used on uncompiled games additionally games made for VR showcase it better
