The Phantoms (or Ken Levy & The Phantoms) were based in Sweden up thru the 60s. They supported The Beatles for three shows in October 1963. Fascinated by The Beatles brand new Vox AC-30 amps they talked the Beatles into selling them the guitar amps (the AC-30 was yet not available in Sweden at this time and The Phantoms were using the smaller AC-15. It turns out that these amps were the ones used by The Beatles to record I Want To Hold Your Hand. The Phantoms used the amps up through the 60s (Ken Levys went up in flames in the late 60s he explained in a swedish radio show some years before he passed away). However Cliff Gentle kept his through the years. He too passed away a few years ago and his widow, danish singer/actress Daimi, sold his amps. I was offered the amp, but unfortunately could not afford it. However, a good friend of mine bought the amp which is now in his collection.
My father had a fruit cake tin filled with guitar rock 45s, and I wore the groove flat listening to them all when I was a kid. But this is a new band to me. Thanks!
Excelente grupo musical. !!!!!
