In this video, I tried to make a cottage for Hazel, so that she didn't have to live with her 18 cousins, 3 brothers and 200 other goblins. Watch as I make a cute miniature house and stay tuned till the end to find out how you can own it yourself. Развлечения
Some gourmet asmr in this one yum. Good wangjanglin technique with that static grass applicator too.
Thanks Stud! I usually chant pepper pepper pepper in my head every time I use the applicator.
A "dobby" is, in Lancanshire and Yorkshire folklore, a term for a hobgoblin that has a strong prankster mindset, but can also be very industrious and help with chores around the house.
The expression "Master Dobbs has helped you" was used to indicate that someone has accomplished a greater amount of work than expected (with the extra coming from the dobby).
Knarb, dude, love your take on the blacksmith with all the bits and bobs you added to the build in true Knarb fashion, Hazel is one lucky goblin. 😎🐸
Thank you so much for putting this together bud and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOO happy we got this sent crazy box out to you! Great watch my friend💚
My pleasure Neil! Keep on making stuff and telling awesome stories.
The word Goblin originated from Anglo-French gobelin and Medieval Latin gobelinus, who was the devil haunting the cities of Normandy before 1141
The word/meaning Goblin is also known in russian Folklore, You should read Russian Hominology.
@@hansmustermann5371 that's good to know!
Goblin steal socks, because in some goblin regions socks are used as curency. The more well loved the stolen sock was, the more it's worth
This video was so relaxing, a mug of hot chocolate and some fluffy slippers spontaneously manifested out of thin air while I was watching it.
I'm was wearing two pairs of socks and drinking tea while editing. I guess it bled through!
Everything about this video speaks to me. Hazels story, the crafting, knarbs voice, that free asmr in the middle, all of it. the YSAC reference was *Chefs kiss* Great job Knarb. Tall Goblins are so tall they can get the shiny things on the top shelves
That's why Hobgoblins are among the most powerful in goblinoid society. (Technically, Bugbears are even taller, but are also lazier).
I got a lot of vibes litsening to this and YSAC and then he hits us with the Pepper, pepper, pepper
Sick build Knarb! I'm sure the goblins really appreciate it
Not enough to stick around!
"Goblins Believe Writing Steals Your Soul: The walls of goblin lairs and the ruins of towns goblins have riaded are littered with pictures of their exploits. They never use writing, though. That's not lucky. Writing steals words out of your head. You can't get them back"
Goodness, the little worlds you craft are so amazing and are a great inspiration
I have a goblin named Boba! She was seperated from her troupe when they accidentally awakened an ancient white dragon. She's a wild magic sorceress and she has a twin brother named Bongo who's an alchemist :)
Boba sounds like one adventurous goblin! I bet Bongo's potions add a whole new level of excitement.
I housed a little trash goblin from Lithuania before the pandemic hit. One time she dropped her entire dinner on the floor while she was heading to her room, but scooped it up and ate it anyways. She loves Hatsune Miku and has since moved back to my country, so I hope I can visit her again soon. She was a lovely housemate. ^^ Bonus fact, she got her internship at the game company where my partner works by submitting a self-portrait in all her goblin glory.
Never call a Goblin a "Gobbo", you will lose at least one finger.
Your attention to detail is always incredible, man!
Favorite goblin fact: There are goblin myths native to every continent except Australia.
I love it. What about New Zealand?
@@KnarbMakes Although not a perfect analogue, some versions of the Patupaiarehe legend among the Maori are quite similar to goblins.
Hobgoblin Leaders are called "Hobnobs"; and they can be identified by their chocolate bits.
Thanks from another lovely video.
FACTS! Goblinoids never stop growing. A giant troll is basically a giant, ancient goblin!
Ancient Europeans would carve turnips into goblin faces and hang them to ward off evil. Nice build, am going to use some of your techniques on an inn I'm planning.
Good luck with your inn, share pictures of it if you can, I'd love to see it!
In LOTR, “Goblin” is just another word for “Orc”. Somewhere along the line, goblins became their own creature category and the rest is history!
Best goblin fact hands down, while kobolds argue over whether moss be organized by taste or color, goblins have long known the best method is to sort it by its scent.
Another fantastic build, your voiceover and Hazels story added to the whole thing.
Fun Goblin fact goblins are bullied by orcs because they love to read medieval French poetry, especially at bedtime.
I grew up with a healthy respect for goblins and their tricks. I was always told that missing socks were the result of our dryer goblin. And for many years we lived in peace he and my family. I eventually moved out and life moved on. Now I have a dryer of my own and kids that are constantly losing socks. No matter the color, size, or condition there's always one lost. Now curious minds are beginning to notice and ask about said missing socks.........may the legend live on!!!
Beautiful build. Love the way you jsut go with your gut and mix an match whatever material or construction method works for you vision. Also a huge fan ob the humor between the commentary and the subtitles.
A little known fact is that the only thing seperating the common golbin from the hobgolbin is actually their ability to do more than 500 robe skips in succession. It is said the sound they make while rope skipping is the origin of the prefix "Hob".
Please go check out the book that inspired 99% of this build: amzn.to/3HVXvuM (Hazel Searches for Quiet: A Children's Illustrated Book)
The Goblin Cottage has been claimed by Emily Smith! Congrats Emily!
This was really relaxing to watch and the house is really good, and Hazel’s story has given me inspiration for lore on kinds of goblins in my fantasy setting.
Goblin fact: goblins are better than kobolds.
Better goblin fact: kobold is the German word for goblin.
Lovely build Knarb! So much character. Love the big broad chimney especially, that kit from Neil is next level... so much cool stuff.
Thanks man! The chimney is my favorite part too!
Sweet build! Did you know the term "hobgoblin" was mentioned in Tolkien's published fiction only once? Gandalf referred to them in The Hobbit. In a later preface, JRRT alludes to hobgoblins being a "larger kind" of goblin, and then even later mentions in a letter that originally hobgoblins were smaller, not larger, than their goblin cousins. Fascinating stuff, you'll agree.
I love the way you throw stuff together man. It is like watching a chef making delicious food, not looking at the recipe or taking measurements, but still making a masterpiece dish. Oh, and.. Nilbog is Goblin backwards.
I appreciate that! Cheers!
I’m playing my first goblins in a pathfinder one shot this week and I’m so pumped. Bovuz the swashbuckler and Gornk the inventor. Two goblin siblings that grew up in a junkyard. Bovuz is terrified of horses and Gornk doesn’t think they exist. Most of the party is playing goblins so we are the goblin gang!!!
I have a goblin named Nettle Rainweaver that I enjoy playing in my ttrpg
She’s a descendant of an extremely rich and powerful merchant family, but willfully avoids her families lavish life, much more enjoying the chaos of her adventures (and explosives) using her alchemical knowledge to get in all kinds of shenanigans. While she may not live in a nice quaint cottage like this by choice, it would look perfect as one of her families many estates in the country side (that she would definitely take advantage of them never using to lay low when her explosives piss off the wrong people 😅)
Great build over all, and a very calming video to watch as I recover from needing some stitches recently keeping me from crafting myself
Incredible dude. Just straight up fantastic.
Thanks dude!
My favorite D&D character was a goblin, her name was Gnarrb much like hazel she lived in a tight household. She couldn't wait to leave and become an adventurer. Life is hard for a goblin always being looked down on by the bigger folk, so goblins make do. She wanted to prove all the big folk wrong, and she did she slayed dragons and befriended sea monsters, and came home a hero.
The fact in this story is also it's moral, no matter how small you are or long your ears you can change the world.
Favorite Goblin Fact: Hayao Miyazaki once described the Totoros as goblins. He says they have an "easygoing, carefree” attitude, they don’t try to frighten people, and they're more like animals than spirits or something mystical. I think it's very interesting to see how fantasy creatures get interpreted differently by various cultures around the world.
In folklore and mythology, goblins are often depicted as mischievous or malevolent creatures that can cause trouble for humans. However, the exact depiction of goblins varies depending on the cultural context. In some traditions, goblins are described as ugly and deformed, while in others they are portrayed as tiny, impish beings with a knack for trickery.
In medieval Europe, goblins were often associated with mines and caves, and were said to be the spirits of the miners who had died while working there. They were believed to cause accidents and misfortune to those who entered the mines.
Another interesting fact is that the word "goblin" is thought to have originated from the Old French word "gobelin," which referred to a mischievous household spirit. This word is thought to have ultimately come from the Greek word "kobalos," which means "rogue" or "rascal."
Love your channel and the video! Keep it good sir :)
I like the Wychwood Brewery brews and have a number of their t-shirts which feature heavily their hobgoblin logo my seen year old grandson feels that their needs to be a backstory to every goblin on the t-shirts and that he needs to know what the goblins have been up to. There is an apparently naught goblin who tied up Santa and stole all the presents. I think the grandson is probably a future RPG gamer. Great build by the way.
My favorite goblin fact is that they make the best pickles! It's hard to store food in dank caves in the cold months so they have to get creative with their turnips.
(Don't mind me, just trying to sus out if Baron actually WAS a flock dealer in a previous lineage...)
Love these videos, so easy to just relax and watch. In my D&D world, goblins descended from orcs after a tribe got forced into the plains following a war. There they had to adapt to be more nimble and hard to spot.
This is so awesome. Goblin originated from the king of the gnomes, Ghob, whose followers are called “ghob-lings.”
Great video as usual. If, or when, you get a goblin to take a bath the pastime they participate in to make the bathing bearable is farting in the tub and trying to bite the bubbles.
ROFL
🤣
Goblins are people too! Just small people. I'm a Goblin! A currently homeless Goblin, that is. In the cold, cold North. During the long, cold winter. In the cold, dark forest. With no place to call home..
I’m writing a TV show as a hobby, and in it the Goblins steal people’s clothes at night (just like in the folklore), but they collect the pheromones off the clothes and use them in knock out gas, which is then put into their little wrinky-dink bombs and used for combat when necessary.
fact: like myself, goblins are easily distracted; when we see something we like, we have no choice but to seek it out. for goblins, shiny things. for me, new knarb makes videos
Keep chasing after what captivates your attention! Sometimes that's where we get our best ideas.
I love what you do with the things you build and how you explain things.
Roderick Kingsley is the first Hobgoblin to have a Goblin's strength that is stronger than the Green Goblin, but in fact, it is not only Roderick who took the mantle as a Hobgoblin.
Goblins believe that writing steals words out of their minds that they can never get back. They tell stories with pictures only.
Haha, that explains a lot.
Here’s a fact: goblins are NASTY and I love them.
Inspiring work you do. I only just made my first tabletop house out of spare cardboard, toothpicks and popsicle sticks. It’s not half bad but stuff like this just awes me.
That's awesome! Keep at it, that's how we all start.
Oh Knarb, this was quite the medley of odes to other crafty RUclipsrs. You had your base of Neal of course, tossed with some T-Nu, a dash of Mr.Hobby Time and sprinkled with Studsons' Goop...which I could have phrased better.
I love Hazels cottage, however temporary her residence there may have been.
goblin fact: I'm in your walls. jk! but goblins might be - or at least, their pickles might be. Goblins are famous for their pickling and fermentation of food, and store them in cracks in the walls to keep them cold. Besides, putting them in the walls means there's more room for cool things in the cabinets and on the floor!
Thanks for making such cool videos. Love ya, Knarb.
We all need other things in our walls other than insulation!
I've been raised by Northern hobgoblins. Its something that's not easy to talk about seeing people always think goblins are bad. But I had a great childhood, swiping hooman babies and replacing them with changelings , waiting for our bread to be just ripe enough. Scaring kids by hiding under their beds. Good times ..good times
Ha! I just painted a mini giant and was debating painting some gobbos and what video pops up. Sweet build
Excellent build! Love the idea of goblins moving into and abandoned farmhouse.
Fun goblinoid fact: the Nilbog is hardest to kill of all D&D goblinoids (honestly, google the stat block)...Nilbog is obviously Goblin spelt backwards, which is actually pretty cool, like how cool does "Namuh" sound?
Aaanyway, awesome work dude & Neil for the kit too! Keep up the top content 👌👏
Not sure if I’m too late or not, but I do love my Gobbo Facts:
In pathfinder 1e, there’s a feat that lets goblin barbarians rage for free if they see someone reading from a book!
In an old campaign of mine I also had a tribe of goblins that had a naming convention: you get named after the first thing they refuse to eat (typically because they’re too full to eat anything more, lol)
That sounds really fun! Love that naming tribe tradition. And no you're not too late, I'm going to pick someone closer to my next full video release, so it gives people plenty of time to put their name in the hat. Cheers!
A hobgoblin is a household spirit, they can either be helpful or mischievous depends on who ya talk to.
I dig your channel❣❣
Stay Groovy ✌~N~💖~&~Granny Hugs👵🤗🤗
According to the Spiderwick Field guide I read when I was young most goblins are born without teeth and find substitutes like teeth from other animals, glass shards, ect. to use.
Love the build keep up the good work. Goblin Fact: Goblins have an near-pathological fear and hatred of horses and dogs lol
I never realised I enjoyed goblins or their houses so much. A very pleasant sojourn in an unexpected land. Cheers!
Fact: Goblins carve items out of turnips so they can throw them in the stew after they are done. Or eat the book holder when bored...
Such a beautiful build!
Goblin fact 😁: despite that historically goblins have been on the ‘evil side’ of myth there are actually a number of places around the word with goblin in their title. ie ‘Goblin Combe’ in Somerset,uk and ‘The Gap of the Gobelin’ in France. Side fact: most of the places are in the uk!
One particular goblin taught me how to be brave.
I don't need the cottage, but I will give a goblin fact anyway.
Goblins love Crab Apples the way other folk love regular apples. The sour flavor is more to their taste. As crab apple trees are necessary for the pollination of regular apple trees (look it up, this is a real fact), many orchard keepers are more tolerant of goblins sneaking onto their orchards to take crab apples. Some goblins even keep their own orchards, if they have the coin for the land, though they sell all the sickly sweet regular apples (or "toothrot apples" as the goblins call them). If you pick a goblin's pocket, they're liable to have a few crab apples or crab apple byproducts.
goblins do not wander off, they always have a mission, at least in their minds!
Goblins have an affinity for rats and wolves, raising them to serve as companions and mounts, respectively. Like rats, goblins shun sunlight and sleep underground during the day. Like wolves, they are pack hunters, made bolder by their numbers. When they hunt from the backs of wolves, goblins use hit-and-run attacks.
Goblins riding wolves while hunting with rat companions? Talk about a unique pack! I wonder what other creatures they take care of.
Genius.
The attention to detail is top-notch....Perfect. You really know how to impress the audiences!
Everyone likes DryBrushing! :D We (As in Me, my Wife and our Grandaughters when they visit) belive that our house has House Goblins and House Trolls, They live in the walls and in Troll/Goblin Space (it's quantum lol) they move things and "Borrow" things when they need them, sometimes they even give them back to the Humans who share the house with them.
Who knows, you might be right!
This was an awesome and relaxing video man! Definitely inspiring me to do something with my Saturday. 🔥
Thanks Nic! Don't forget to build in lots of breaks too!
10:48
2 tbsp. margarine or butter
1 large shallot, sliced
1 1/2 lb. radishes, halved
1 1/2 lb. small turnips, halved or quartered
1/3 c. water
1/4 c. lower-sodium chicken broth
1 tbsp. honey
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
2 tbsp. thinly sliced mint leaves
1 tbsp. finely chopped chives
DIRECTIONS
Step 1
In 12-inch skillet, melt margarine or butter on medium-high. Add shallot and cook 2 minutes or until golden and tender, stirring occasionally. Add radishes and turnips; stir until well coated. Stir in water, broth, honey, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover and cook 15 minutes.
Step 2
Uncover and cook 7 to 10 minutes longer or until vegetables are glazed and most of liquid has evaporated, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in mint and chives. Transfer to serving platter and garnish with mint leaves.
I absolutely love this! I love the story built around it and I love the outcome too!
I will give you two goblin facts, one being related to our world and one related to my little gobbos.
1st, most cultures around the world have a creature that is similar to a goblin from old European folklore however in most stories, they are connected to homes and are more like a house spirit than an angry little green man who is planning to attack you for your valuables.
2nd, if you give a Goblin a magic-imbued piece of stone they will absorb its magic and their skin will change colour? That is where all my goblin friends get their name, The Blue Moon Clan.
Goblins frequently steal my glasses and my car keys!!
Love the wee house!!
That looks amazing! See you next time.
Hobgoblins skin is green because they've naturally adapted to the color of their molded bread they consume around the warm morning fire with a cup of goat milk and bat wings!
Fun fact, my first DnD character I ever created was a goblin named Mortimer. He lived with a clan of Goblins that got along with animals which is why Mortimer is always seen with 2 badgers. Even more facts, I had to make a DnD character sheet and since I didn't have the goblin race I had to pick something else and played an Aarakocra purely bc it was the first race in the list bc of alphabetical order.
Goblins love buttons - imagine how many buttons Hazel could keep in that cottage!
What a warm and wonderful video. I love the idea of #goblinfreefebruary.
Cottage looks great. Seems like a pretty awesome crafting kit that you used too.
Thanks. Neil put together a fantastic kit.
I don't have interesting or fun facts about Goblins, but this is very cool. Very first time finding your channel, and I'm subscribing!
The reason goblins all have interesting noses is because when they go through puberty at age 6 they get to pick a style and the nose goobers either knuckle dust their face in or using the special elongenatorator to help the younglings get that beautiful hook.
In the north east of the USA goblins have a symbiotic relationship with coyotes, and have been spreading into suburbs as the turkey and deer populations have grown. They have ruckus parties most nights and can be heard yelling at each other. #GoblinFacts
Who knew goblins could be such good party animals? Sounds like the suburbs are never dull with these critters around.
Since my DM won't be posting I'll post on her behalf (and offer it to her first in the event it wins).
May I introduce you to the Goblin Metal Band 'SPLAT!'
Introduces as the main act at an inter-goblin clan meet; the band was heavily percussion based. The use of war drums and striking helmets with clubs intertwined with the pro-greenskin lyrics shouted be the female lead singer until the performance climaxed with human/elf/dwarf and/or halfling 'performers' dropped onto the stage from a sufficient height to make a 'splat' sound.
I love it!
fun fact abput gobblins, they see the world only in shades of green, yet the word green dosen't exists in their vocabulary. that can lead to confusing discussions. likewise, the word they use for the hue of green that is white is "arrrrgggghhh!".
So you get characters like "The Giant" who sells peas and corn, and Gandalf the Arrrgggghhh!
Interesting. Wonder what the names of other hues would be....
"Le Gobelin" (The Goblin) is the most prestigious animation school. Which makes sense, honestly.
Goblins are not always evil in fantasy. Several settings, such as Eberron, have whole goblin empires where goblins live out their lives safe from maraudering murder-hobos.
Goblins are one of my favorite playable races in ttrpgs, glad I discovered your channel beautiful work!
My fav goblin fact is that they ride wolves because they’re terrified of horses. Also I hope Hazel at least said “thank you” for your hard work 😂
Haha, she did! Thanks for that tidbit of knowledge!
You are so creative and cool.
Thank you! Cheers!
Love both the story and the build!
im now imagening the baron with a heavy scottish acsent telleing all about how he makes his prized colored flock
great vid
He takes pride in his work, haha.
Favorite turnip recipe I know that turnips used to be carved instead of pumpkins. I actually usually forget they exist for food. For a goblin fun fact, goblin green was liked by mostly males versus females on a color chart I saw. I think that was made before multiple genders was more widely accepted though
Did you know that when something goes missing it's usually a goblin. You can often find them doing a little dance not too far away after a successful heist singing their signature heist song "hepna hoo dilli dum di doo skibbidy shibbipoo you are the fool"
Fun fact, Puca is the Irish for Goblin. They were mischievous fairies who liked creating havoc in the mortal world, they enjoyed confusing and terrorizing humans. Despite this they are considered to be benevolent.
In France, gobelins, are sometimes mistaken as Kobolds, which if you are wearing glasses you definitely tell the difference.
Cool vid! Probably too late for my goblin trivia but... goblin lore has it that they are tricksters that like to hide human possessions. Soooo, the next time you "lose" a sock in your washing machine, check in with Hazel and her cousins. I'm pretty sure they've plundered your hosiery ;)
Little known fact: When Goblins make cheese, they first stick their feet in a pail of butter. This begins the bacterial culture process to make the world's finest, most stinky Goblin Cheese.
Delicious!
Cork bricks! Who knew? Oh wait, you did.
I need to invest in some coconut fibers.
Cotton balls for light diffusion. Very nice, I'm filing that one away for future use.
The house looks great, so now you can jack the rent up on them like a REAL landlord. : )
This was another comment, but apparently poly fill (pillow stuffing) is better and less flammable than cotton balls.
Thanks for watching T-Nu!
@@KnarbMakes Good to know, thanks Knarb!
Two of my favorite creators collabing!
Amazing video and as always....dry brushing vibes!!
According to prophecy, the wild and unchecked growth of turnips will one day cover all of the world's surface and lead to the extinction of all other lifeforms. Fortunately, it is through the valiant efforts of goblinoids like Hazel and her family that the tide of the turnip apocalypse is held back each day. Thank you Hazel for everything you and your kin do to keep all of us safe!
goblin fact: it's easy to tell a hobgoblin from a goblin. HOBgoblins have hairy feet.
A happy goblin home from which the smells of various types of "greens" emanate. It is a fact that the different colors of goblins enjoy different kinds of "greens". Green goblins love turnip, orange goblins go for mustard, and red goblins eat collards.
All right. In my world, goblins have a fondness for "death mazes". They consider them to be akin to amusement parks. They'll compete with each other to be the first one in, and then when they emerge out of it later; brag about how strong and skilled they are to escape the maze. 😉 They're adorable.
I read a long time ago that the word "Goblin" comes from an old story about the wicked Gnome King of some mountain whose name was Gob, and all his children were called "Goblings." I can't find a reference to that story anymore, though.
While searching for that source on the gnome king (whose name was spelled "Ghob," apparently), I found a ton of information on where goblins originated.
The true answer is likely lost to antiquity, and possibly originated in many different locations around the globe (nearly EVERY culture has their version of a goblin in it, including Japan and certain African countries), but the word goblin probably came from "Kobalos," or "Kobold," whose roots come from "gob," meaning a crevice or crack in a sea cliff and probably referred to some imagined creature dwelling therein.
There are tons of mythical little people, spirits, sprites, or fairies that the word "goblin" can be used to describe, many of them could be considered helpful (hobgoblins, in particular!) but most considered mischievous or malevolent, so truly the word is a moving target, and what a goblin "is" cannot be discretely defined.
Personally, I like how the word "goblin" is extremely evocative--I just imagine some dingy little humanoid living in a cave, who is vaguely resentful of the humans living nearby and so resorts to playing pranks on them because he/she is incapable of doing any actual harm.
Goblins are traditionally terrified of horses
