the companionway slats are definitely a challenge. Considering a replacement on my 485, a new design, where doors open (rather than slats)
I like the slats better than the doors. The doors seems to be in the way. Slats you can remove and store away when not in use.

When you get in the swing of things “Long Keel” They are very nice tbh, plus even with a very Shallow Draft, still track really well Offshore. For tight places, a variable thrust Bow Thruster is really good, plus is worth having as well, as can be used as backup steering to help avoid things really fast. The Waterjet Thruster looks really interesting too with the same advantages of a retractable conventional Bow Thruster. I think I may be tempted to have one tbh. 🤔 Best Wishes. Bob in Wales. 👍🏴⛵️🌟🌟🌟

Totally Off Topic, my apologies. Question regarding the IP 439. I’m hoping to place an Order for One by the end of this year if not sooner ( just waiting for the Piggybank to fill up ), and have been trying to find a video Tour of a build number with a full length settee Berth, opposite the Pullout Double Berth to Starboard. I’ve seen the partial one with one Captains Chair , am pretty sure the full one will be fine, but would like to see a tour of one as am likely to need that 7th Berth, as that’s likely to be the one I’m going to be sleeping in while I have the Boat being delivered for me by a Professional Skipper and Delivery Crew. Due to Disability, seeing one can help me figure out things like where handholds to help me get into and out of Bed , Lee-cloth fixings, stuff like that can be best positioned. Disability isn’t too bad, I have one leg working, and one arm and hand, so am a bit of a Long John Silver, without the benefit of a Wooden Leg. 🙂 Best Wishes.to All. We have yet to build one with the full settee. The standard arrangement with the two fixed settee's can also convert into a berth. We will certainly work with any buyer to build the boat that they want and you would be no different. Let us know how we can help further.

It's amazing but doesn't WOW me like the 380. After seeing the 380 I can't help but expect too much from a 485
maybe if it were 300k I would think about it but for that amount I can buy a two story house with a swimming pool

Joe, Then you should look at the Next Generation Island Packet with the Solent Rig. The boats will sail with or faster than anything else in its size that is not a race boat. Ask our owners...

Do island packets still make boats this size ?
We are planning to bring the 485 back out after we have done our next generation redo. We will start on it this fall and will take a year or so to complete. We will build a two and tree stateroom version.

Are you planning to produce a new 485 model?
Yes we will re-introduce the next generation 485 in a couple of years with two interior layout arrangements and a re-worked cockpit to name a couple of changes.
I hope will be in soon .. because looking a new 50-55 feet..

You might have enough for a club sandwich in the change from 500k lol
50 foot and still dinky useless shower. Horrible limited room for batteries. That Cetol makes the teak look like plastic. Self tacking boom wastes tons of deck space. All electronics on the boat are outdated.
