THIS was the RUclips recommendation video that lead me to Luli Lee two years ago. I fell in love immediately and have followed every song she's put out before and since.
I was trying to place the mix and instrumentation (not very hard) and yeh, that's 80s pop. And really good 80s pop, I think, though I was pretty checked out of pop music back then. So my view may be off.

Em... Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, 5 seconds of summer, 30 seconds to Mars?.. Are they not in the spotlight enough? And don't forget solo-artist like Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars.
It's a uphill struggle mate. It's quicker, easier and financially better to pay one guy with a Mac and a bunch of samples to produce the music than pay for a whole band to record (as well as touring). At the end of the day it doesn't matter because unfortunately that is the kind of music that is popular right now. And the labels want to keep it that way for as long as possible.

I love the way she has captured, weaved & blended an 80's pop sound with a solid but subtle 70's 'boogie' dance vibe. I'm not sure who these folks are (band called Lulileela apparently) but this girl has 'my number' dialed in completely; I just became an instant fan and so with a low bow, I tip my hat to her & her band! Tight & Lit, I must hear more!
Very 80s-esque. A touch of Duran Duran and Bananarama with a moder twist... ? The video reminded me or Gary Numan's 'Cars' but with a square instead of a triangle.
We need to see more bands like these, with music based on instruments and quality. Don't care if it's Pop, Heavy Metal, Blues, etc. And to be honest, it's awesome to see a band with women components, doing a great musical job.
It feels like it gets harder and harder to find good music, I'm just so grateful that AI generated music isn't the norm yet, theres something fascinating about real life musicians, their influences and the sounds they come out with. Its almost like music is a dying art, then you hear some Korean pop rock band that completely revitalizes your faith in humanity. Music is the one language I hope we never lose.

The band is tight. I'm thinking your meaning the bass players just out of sync with the drums having that out of pocket feeling. Really noticeable around 1:15 and again at 2:27 It's true but I'm sensing it is her sense of timing more of a syncopated feel. She doesn't do it all through the song more when she is getting more riffy and grooving. It makes it sound less sterile to my ear then a click track perfect rhythm section and makes the bass stand out to me. This whole song is groove driven so it makes sense to have a little off tempo feel to make the bass stand out. It is noticeable. To me it works. I like it.
I've listened to this song about a year ago, simply seeing the bass player in the middle and singing and loved the whole production, had to save it on my watch later, can't spell the name apart from Dive tbh 😂
