    This comes at a good time. I had a heartbreak in Oct of last year. Don't laugh, it was the loss of a precious 4 lb dog, Chloe. She was blind and deaf and needed constant care. She was like a child to me, as I don’t have any human babies. A year ago Today, I lost my Maine Coone cat Sam I'd had for 15 yrs. Our former neighbors very untrained and angry German Shepherd literally BROKE our fence down and took my Sams life. Right in our back yard. He was juat napping. I am a pet sitter and get attached to other peoples fur babies of course. Those 2 were the closest ones for me, but in total, I lost 11 fur friends last year. I gained weight starting in Oct and the scale keeps rising. I don’t feel I've changed anything in the way I eat or my activity level. But up it goes. Knowing you're a work in progress makes me heart feel so much better. I have felt broken somehow. I'll be 45 next month, am only 5ft and was scared this was it. Midlife weight gain. 10-15 pounds on me shows a Lot. But God created us to thrive. I am so proud of you and in awe of how open you've been. If you can, I can. Thank you thank you my friend. Hugs from Napa ❤

      Oh my goodness! 😢 I’m in tears reading this. I’m so sorry for your losses. I’m sending you a virtual hug. Of course I was thinking about if that happened to my cat what I would do. I worry about him because he’s so friendly and loves people and all other animals. Shame on those neighbors.
      That said, Ali is inspiring and this video gives me hope too. I gained 10 pounds through menopause but now that I’m on the other side of it I’m starting to level off and heading back down to my former weight. For me, I had a sluggish gallbladder and that was contributing to my weight. I took care of that and have been feeling so much better.
      ❤ to you from New Jersey.

      @@kitgenz1114 WOW! Thank you for even reading that long post! I am grateful you are back to your healthier self. Who would have guessed gallbladder?
      Hug your precious kitty everyday. Keeping them indoors is obviously the safest, but if they do go outside, (which they Love) really try to keep them as close as possible. We'd Just started to let him lay on the grass out back a couple weeks before that happened. I was scared he'd jump the fence and get in the road. I had No Idea he'd been taken in our own backyard. He was older and fence climbing wasn't one of his top choices anymore. Just laying in a sunbeam. If you have fencing, physically check over it periodically. I had, but a German Shepherd is stronger them I am. Catio is a good idea too. Thank you reaching out. You truly helped me feel better today. Hugs back 🤗

      Oh no! This is horrible and traumatic! I am so so sorry this happened to you. I can't imagine! 😭💔 Heartbreak and stress absolutely affects our cortisol levels which can lead to weight gain. I am praying for your heart and am hopeful for your journey to your health. You really CAN do anything you set your mind to. Hoping you feel hope too. 💛

    Hi Ali, I’m intrigued that you are willing to be so vulnerable with the world on here! Congrats on getting healthy! There’s a great book called Fast Like a Girl that helped me understand my body chemistry! And for example why we crave carbs before our period! God designed us that way to build progesterone to sustain a pregnancy! So beautiful. Dr.Pelz is on YT so you can look her up. Her book has info I could never find before on the internet.

    God Bless you, Ali, for this video. I struggle with my weight and my relationship with food every day. I think about it non stop and I just feel such tremendous guilt for not being able to stick with my diet. I workout 5 to 6 days a week - I don’t have a problem with that part- but I just can’t stay away from food. Unhealthy food. I am really looking forward to all your videos in this series and just want to thank you for your honesty and for sharing your story.

      It's a joy to share! My coach would always tell me that I can't outwork a bad diet. It took a bit, but I can say with full confidence that small, CONSISTENT changes lead to more changes. And before ya know it an apple will be like candy. And this is coming from a sugarholic! I know you can do this! I'm rootin' for ya!

    Thank you for the encouragement to keep going and seeking what is best for us. I need to get a DEXA scan. Thank you for that suggestion. Also, I love your nail polish. Is that a green color?

    Our stories are similar and yet different, and we’ve gone in different directions as well, but the focus on health is at the top for both of us. My lowest weight was also 143, and I know that was way too low. Maybe I should seek out a scan, it would be good to actually see that the BMI goal for me is too low on paper. I also had a huge heartbreak while my husband and I were in high school, and my reaction was the same as yours. I was absolutely broken. I’m a couple weeks behind in filming my one year video, and hope to have it up in the next week. Keep at it, you are doing amazing work!!

      The scan was super helpful for me to get out to that BMI nonsense. I actually got the first one for free as part of a research study I was in. Again, desperate for a 'miracle' I was apart of a study with this new supplement that was supposed to help with weight loss. Funny thing is. I did lose weight, but I was taking the placebo pill. haha! What I did different was walked more steps and was just more aware of what I ate because we met with a nutritionist every week as part of the study. Then I paid for a scan last fall and it said the same thing...a healthy 172. I would like to go back and see what changes there are since my weight loss. I think it would be fun to see the closer comparison. The first one I had done was in 2012. I have so enjoyed watching your health journey as well! Just goes to show that it can be different for each person, but as long as there is commitment to action, there WILL be results. Yay us!!! 🎉💛

      @@AliBrownieIt seems the scans are limited in our area, but I’m keeping it on my list for sure! Glad you had them and can avoid the numbers game!

    Ali, thank you for sharing! I have struggled with my weight my whole life; having PCOS makes it so easy to gain weight if I'm not in healthy practices. When I was 19/20 I was my lowest adult weight, which I think was around 170, and I looked good! If I weighed much less than that I would've looked too skinny! I gotta get this scan done because I KNOW I have dense bones lol.

      @AliBrownie  7 месяцев назад

      YES! I look so healthy at 170 also! The DEXA scan is super helpful!

    This is a very vulnerable and authentic video. It really reminds me, as someone who has always struggled with weight as well, that you never know what someone is going through who is "thin or skinny," and you might not actually want their weight loss method! I'm so glad you have found success in WW. I think there is an eating approach that is individualized for each person and we have to seek the Lord for what is best for us individually. He did, after all, make us each one of a kind and wants a close relationship with us. Thanks for sharing!

      100% Not everyone will benefit from Weight Watchers, but all would benefit from taking inventory at what they are consuming. Being aware is very important. Weight Watchers does that for ME. The Lord has for sure been establishing my steps and I for sure recommend others asking Him for their blueprints to health as well. xoxo
