I remember this song being on a mix tape some promoter was handing out when I was on spring break a lifetime ago. This was the only song on there worth listening to. Still worth listening to.
Here's an interesting fact about E......or Mark Everett. His father was Hugh Everett III and he was the man who proposed the idea behind alternate universes. His father was an amazing physicist and died tragically in his early 50s. There is a cool documentary about Mark tracing his fathers steps onto his theory on alternate universes.
Thanks for the reminder......I work at a library here in South Carolina and we actually have that documentary. I've turned on a couple of my friends to that documentary because not only is it about physics, which I am earning my BA in, but it also documents Mark tracing his fathers famous footsteps upon a monumental theory in physics widely held today!! Keep on rocking!!
Second CD, the first is "A man called E" released pretty much at the start of the 90's if memory serves. "Broken Toy Shop" was later, in 1993. Have both CDs and I play them to death! :)
i know how you feel i've loved them since my dad bought me "the shrek cd" as i used to call it (i was seven) then my best friend started listening to them! they're the only thing that can cheer me up when i'm down or whatever... :D
Makes you wonder if all that strife is worth it just to have those beautiful songs. The way he recycles all that shit into something constructive is inspiring.
Harsh comment, if it's about this song ? This track is from E's solo work, while he was writing to get a recording contract. Which was well before Eels were 'formed'.
lol no you can't. This remionds me thoug...we need to get some P. Hux on RUclips. Somebody somewhere must have caught one of his living room shows in LA on camera.
the "with strings" version of this is absolutely gorgeous .. .my highlight of the concert

E is sublime, à la Lennon or Christ.
This video hints at both.

I wish he would've made a video for L.A. River. In my opinion that's the best song on the album.
