I really appreciate your videos, they're so helpful and specific! Just wanted to let you know the link above is not for your budget hotel video. Not sure if you're still reading these comments, but do you know if there's something going on in Barcelona from October 22-26? Rates are much higher than the weekend and many of the hotels are sold our for those dates. We're planning to be there from the 24th to the 29th for our first visit.
Love your videos! Very informative and fun to watch! My husband and I are going to Spain in October 2023 and these videos are being super helpful! Thank you!
Hi Tony! My wife and I have watched dozens of your videos in preparation for our one month traveling in Spain. Thanks very much for all the info you present! Can you comment on the hotels: chic&basic Reding in Barcelona and Holtel Alcázar in Sevilla? ¡Muchas gracias!
Hi Dave, on the issue of the present video, the location of Chic&Basic Reding is excellent for tourism in Barcelona. See our advice for Seville here ruclips.net/video/peq4-XhscwI/видео.html
Yay! So happy our hotel barrio made it to your list! 🤣 picking a hotel is probably the hardest decision - we selected Seventy Barcelona which is in La Vila De Grácia! Can’t wait
Thanks for sharing all of that - I wish I had watched this before we booked. What are your thoughts about the Melia Barcelona Sky? Pros and cons of staying there please?
It's a spectacular hotel close to Poblenou, a traditional neighborhood we love. It's not in the center of Barcelona but it's well connected by metro, bus and trams.
Hi Tony! I have watched several videos of you as a preparation for our trip in barcelona next week. I have few questions because I can’t really find the exact answer on the internet. 1. Our hotel is at Sant Joan Despi, which zone is it included? 2. Does most of the establishments in barcelona accepts card as a payment method? 3. Is it possible to visit Madrid for a day from Barcelona? Thanks to your videos, I have some heads up about our trip. Keep it up 😊
Hi Rhon, 1. It's a city outside Barcelona. Not an ideal location as it involves long trips to get to the sights in Barcelona. 2. Yes. 3. A big no-no. But there are plenty of wonderful day trips from Barcelona, see here ruclips.net/video/z6XAhNXRQ-w/видео.html All the best!

Hi Tony. We will be staying in Barcelona for 3 nights pre cruise June 2025 and have booked the H10 Casanova. What are your thoughts about the hotel and neighbourhood. Love your videos ❤
I have now watched about 20+ of your videos. You do a superb job of providing the information I seek in a highly organized, but not rigid, way. Your photography is excellent as well. I wonder if you have opinions about using AirBnB in Spain. I've used it very happily in the US and Norway.
Thank you for your kind words, James. Our two cents: a substantial part of AirBnb flats in the tourist cities of Spain are in the hand of foreign capital through investment funds. Where you had a local resident before now you have an empty flat during most months of the year (for the investor it pays to have the flat closed most of the year, they recover the investment with 3 or 4 months of tourist rentals). Lifelong local residents were forced to leave and relocate to the outskirts of the cities. Local shops are closing down and being replaced by souvenir shops. The process of urban degradation in places like the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona is probably irreversible, but many of us would like to prevent it from spreading to many other areas. As a traveler, as a tourist, I will do everything I can to avoid that my actions have a negative impact in the lives of the people of the places I visit. And Airbnb has contributed immensely to the housing shortage in the tourist cities of Spain, the displacement of locals and the disruption in residential neighborhoods unlucky to have gained "Airbnb" neighbors. On top of that, there are many regulations in place limiting short-term rentals through the platforms. In a substantial number of cases, they are completely illegal.
@@AEngineerDU thanks for understanding. Locals can no longer afford to live in the city centres due mostly, but not exclusively, to the activities of AirBnb.
Very nice hotel is in a posh area of Barcelona but slightly off the central axis of attractions. Which means you will either have to begin or end the day with an extra walk or take the public transport.
Hi, going to spend a week in Spain. I have 3 options below, need some advice. Which hotel is easier ,convenient and safe ? 1. NH collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon 2. Nobu Hotel Barcelona 3. Radisson Blue 1882 Hotel Thanks a lot 😘 thanks for the effort making the video, very useful.

Hello - We have a reservation at Arai Boutique Hotel in Gothic Quarter... it seemed nice from the pictures. First time in Barcelona. We would love your thoughts on that? We will be staying somewhere else for the last half of the visit, and will look at the recommendations you made for Passeig de Gracia. Thank you!
Hello, Alex, the Arai is a beautiful hotel in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. The only criticism to its location is that you will have to walk a few blocks to the nearest metro station or bus stop. Otherwise, it's a fine choice. All the best!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel. Tony, your videos are so helpful. Would you recommend either of these hotels? Hotel Concordia and/or Hotel Europark. Thanks in advance for your help.
Thanks for your words, PW. We have already stayed at Hotel Europark, it is located in a fine region of Barcelona. Hotel Concordia is in the Paral.lel, where quite a few of theaters are still operating. The address is not as central as Europark's, but it is extremely well communicated (both by metro and bus). In fact, we have just stayed a few meters away from Hotel Concordia, it is a lively region we love. All the best.

Hi Tony, great content on your channel. I plan to visit Barcelona for Christmas holidays, plan to stay 6 nights either in AC hotel Som or AC hotel Forum. I know these are a bit further from cental locations, but are basically free due to loyalty program. Could you recommend one of these two in terms of better location, nicer area, public transport connectivity and general safety? Thanks!

Really excited for our trip in August! Thanks for sharing your favourite areas, we booked hotel Neri in the Gothic area, what do you think of the hotel and the area?
The Gothic Quarter where the hotel is located is incredibly busy with tourists but the hotel itself it's so beautiful and classy. We think you'll love it! In spite of being right in the heart of tourist Barcelona, somehow it manages to be a quiet spot.
I just found your channel! So thankful and have subscribed! In my research I came across the Hotel Continental, however I think it is in the Las Ramblas area. Any thoughts on this accommodation? Thanks! And Look forward to viewing your other vlogs!
Welcome to the channel, Nancy! Hotel Continental is in Las Ramblas indeed but just a few meters away from Plaça Catalunya, which is one of the best locations for a stay in Barcelona. Hi! I had to postpone our trip (twice actually!) due to Covid. Originally we were staying at Hotel Rec, but now want to be near Passeig de Gracia. So I have narrowed it down to three choices and would love your opinion. Hotel Denit, Hotel Pratik Essens, and Hotel Catalonia Passeig de Gracia. Thank you in advance!!
Hello there. Hotel Denit is actually within the Gothic Quarter, on a very narrow street. In terms of location, both the Pratik Essens and the Catalonia Passeig de Gràcia are perfect. Essence is a small 2* boutique hotel while the Catalonia hotel is a 4* + hotel, which means a higher standard of service. Hello, you have a great channel with lots of interesting and useful information. We intend to visit Barcelona in March. We have booked in the hotel Catalonia Albeniz. What do you think about our choice? Thank you in advance.
Hello, it's a comfortable hotel but quite distant from the tourist attractions. For as long as you are aware you will need to use the metro on a distant basis, it could be a fine choice.

Hi Tony! I enjoy watching all your videos. We are planning a trip to Spain and i wanted your opinion about Ayre Hotel Gran Via, and Barcelo Sants - from point of tourism.

@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Many thanks for the prompt reply. Myself and my wife are visiting as tourists. So I am looking for alternatives. What is your opinion about Hotel Atlantis? The reviews and the prices seem to be quite ok considering that it is quite close to the tourist hub. Please let me know. Thanks.
It is not a design hotel, it's a bit oldish, but the location is excellent, our only word of warning would be that is in a street with heavy traffic all the day long, so look for specific comments regarding the acoustic isolation of the rooms. Hello Tony from Vancouver, Canada! We love your videos, very helpful! We are coming to Barcelona for a week during New Years Eve and are wondering if Hotel Colon is a good choice? Also any suggestions for New Years Eve? Thank you very much! Besos 😉
Hola Dora, be very welcome to the channel! Hotel Colón has an excellent location, right in front of the cathedral. It doesn't have a metro station nearby, but within a 10 minute (on foot) radius you have access to several useful metro lines. You will be able to visit on foot all the neighbourhoods that form part of the old city. The Passeig the Gràcia is not that far either. As for the New Years Eve, there's usually a big celebration right in front of the Magic Fountain in Montjuïc. But it was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. We don't know yet whether it will return this year. You'll have to wait and see. If you want, give us a shout in December and we'll check that out for you. ¡Un abrazo!
Thank you for sharing your expertise of Barcelona! I've watched several of your videos and appreciate your advice on visiting this beautiful area. I have 2 nights reserved at The Hotel Continental Barcelona for our trip next June. Would you say it's worth the extra $200 to change our location to Catelonia Passeig de Gracia? Thanks in advance for your insight.
Hi Lori, the Catalonia Passeig de Gràcia is a hotel of a higher standard than the Continental Barcelona. But I couldn't tell for sure whether those extra 200 are justified. In terms of location, both are fine. All the best.
Hi Jody, we haven't stayed at the hotel but it is located in a fine are of Barcelona. It is on the upper end of Passeig de Gràcia, with excellent transport connections.
Hola Tony, love your videos, they really helped me when we visited last year. We are visiting again in September and are looking at staying at Hotel Rialto and Hotel Rec Barcelona. I’m concerned that Hotel Rialto is very close to Las Ramblas. What do you think? Gracias
Hi Marcia, Las Ramblas is tourist central, if you don't feel comfortable with hordes of tourists, you might not like the location. But there is nothing particularly unsafe about it.
Hi, excellent hotel, near the upper part of Paseo de Gracia. Good transport connections to get you to the old part of Barcelona, it's not miles away but it's quite a distance on foot.
I love your channel! I just reserved H10 Madison with breakfast and able to cancel. I am wondering what you think of the hotel and the area it is located. I really liked your video on the day trip to Monserrat THANK YOU!
Thank you, Nancy. The hotel is in the Gothic Quarter, in the old part of Barcelona. It is a really good hotel. Good transport connections. The area can be quite busy as it is tourist central. All the best.
Hi Tony, I'm still undecided about staying at HOTEL BARCELONA CENTER because the reviews are not that good, apparently is very old. Can you recommend another hotel, I want to be close to shopping and Familia Sagrada. Your website is the best, great information. Please let me know, Thanks
Hi Niki, please leave your questions just the one time, no need to repeat them. If you stay close to Sagrada Familia you won't be close to the shopping areas, and vice versa, you will need to define your priorities. All the best.
Very helpful, thank you! You said airbnb is a bad choice. So then, you would recommend staying in hotels? Should I call the hotels directly, or book on a certain website? I am looking for a place to stay that has a kitchen. Are there many hotels that offer that?

Keep it up 😊
Hi Rhon,
1. It's a city outside Barcelona. Not an ideal location as it involves long trips to get to the sights in Barcelona.
2. Yes.
3. A big no-no. But there are plenty of wonderful day trips from Barcelona, see here ruclips.net/video/z6XAhNXRQ-w/видео.html

Hi Tony. We will be staying in Barcelona for 3 nights pre cruise June 2025 and have booked the H10 Casanova. What are your thoughts about the hotel and neighbourhood. Love your videos ❤
Hi Luigi, the location is quite good, on one of the most important avenues in Barcelona and a good neighborhood. it's a nice hotel.
Wow. I was unaware of this issue, though it sadly makes great sense. I'll need to reevaluate my plans.
@@AEngineerDU thanks for understanding. Locals can no longer afford to live in the city centres due mostly, but not exclusively, to the activities of AirBnb.
Great information. The Corner Hotel - top tips please?😃
Very nice hotel is in a posh area of Barcelona but slightly off the central axis of attractions. Which means you will either have to begin or end the day with an extra walk or take the public transport.

1. NH collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderon
2. Nobu Hotel Barcelona
3. Radisson Blue 1882 Hotel

If you are talking about the Hotel Barcelona Center, we've never stayed there but the location is good, not far from the Passeio de Gràcia.
Hi Tony! Thank you for taking my question. We are staying at the Casa Mathilda near the Passeig de Gracia. Would you have any opinions on this hotel?
Hi Jody, we haven't stayed at the hotel but it is located in a fine are of Barcelona. It is on the upper end of Passeig de Gràcia, with excellent transport connections.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Good to know, Tony! Gracias!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal would you recommend Hotel Rialto or Chic&Basic Reding? Thank you so much for yr expertise advice.
@@marciajimenez7347 Chic&Basic Reding is in another very busy part of town, but its location is really excellent for tourism in Barcelona.
How about Hotel Del Mar and HCC Montblanc?
In terms of location both are fine, with metro nearby. HCC Montblanc is on a road with heavy traffic.
Hi,
We are visiting Barcelona and have a reservation at the Casa Mimosa, pau claris 179, curious as to your opinion, love your videos
Thank you!
Hola Tony!

Very helpful, thank you! You said airbnb is a bad choice. So then, you would recommend staying in hotels? Should I call the hotels directly, or book on a certain website? I am looking for a place to stay that has a kitchen. Are there many hotels that offer that?
Hi Robyn, we always research our accommodation at Booking. You can do a specific search for aparthotels, which is the type of accommodation you are searching for: www.booking.com/aparthotels/city/es/barcelona.es.html?aid=359492
Hi Tony, Hola, thanks for such informative videos....can I check what do you think about Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel. It is a little off from Vila de Gracia but there are a couple of metro stations nearby, would you think this location may be a little off, thank you.
Hi there, it's quite close to the Sagrada Família, which means it's quite a long way from most tourists sights in Barcelona. If the price was very good, it can be an option, for as long as you are aware you will be using the metro or the buses on a daily basis.
Great thank you so much for your insight, much appreciated. I think all your videos and comments have helped so many people :) @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@@shazly786 really glad to hear that, Shazly. Thanks a lot!
Hola Tony! Do you have a feeling for either the HCC St. Moritz or the Uma Suites Pau Claris? Your videos are outstanding. I do love a map.... Saude!
Patrick, both choices have a brilliant location for anyone wanting to visit Barcelona. We would happily choose either of them. Top choices.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal You are the best!

Hola Tony, greetings from Singapore! Could you recommend a great stress free hotel to stay near the Passeig de Gracia please? Thank you!
Hi Ernest, blanket hotel recommendations are hard to hand out. But try this one, top class hotel with an unrivaled location: www.booking.com/hotel/es/olivia-plaza.es.html?aid=359492
Thankyou for your informative video , we are currently planning a road trip of Spain & Portugal - we are starting in Barcelona and hoping you can give your opinion of these hotels and areas
Weflating Sant Antoni market
Hotel Barcelona center
Hotel balmes
Novotel Barcelona city
Hi Krissi. Your first three choices are within the areas we recommend in the video, the first one in Sant Antoni, the second and third in the Eixample. Novotel Barcelona City is quite far from the center of the city. If your budget allows for it, we would choose among the first three. All the best.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thanks so much for your reply - we have gone with one in the Eixample area
Hello Tony, I really love your videos. I have learned a lot about our trip to Barcelona. Which hotel would you recommend Hotel India, Hotel Royal Passeig de Gracia, or NH Collection Catalonia. Thankyou
Sorry it’s actually NH collection Calderon
Hi Jon, we don't know of any Hotel India in Barcelona. Both the Royal Passeig de Gràcia and the NH Collection Calderón are excellent hotels with an excellent location, would go for either of them without hesitation.
Thankyou. sorry the other hotel was Hotel Indigo what is your opinion on that one
@@jonrodrick2672 Hotel Indigo also has a very good location, in terms of quality the two other hotels are superior.
Hello amigo do you recommend sant Cugat ?
Only if you are right next to a train station and the accommodation is way cheaper than in Barcelona.
Good day, please is Carrer del Rosello 205 08008 Barcelona in a good neighbourhood? What are the pros and cons
Good morning, it is a good neighborhood and location, the Eixample area we describe in the video.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you
Hi: Great videos. Enjoyed the information you have provided.
Planning a trip in September for me and my wife. We would like to be at a central location and walk around as much as possible. Would like your opinion on Hotel Olivia Plaza and Iberostar Selection Paseo De Gracia. Is one better than the other? Or is there another centrally located hotel you would recommend (I totally understand that it is very difficult to give specific recommendations)? Appreciate your help. Thank you.
Hi Sundar, both your hotel selections have a SUPERB location for tourism in Barcelona. If we had the choice, we would go for the www.booking.com/hotel/es/olivia-plaza.es.html?aid=359492
Thank you. Greatly appreciate your help. Keep up the good work
¡Hola Tony!
