    This is my home area! I’ve spent so much time swimming around the footbridge and hiking those trails. This really makes me miss summertime

    The strawberries were at "Cole Mt." large open area with great views, many good trails to hike there it is called the "Mt. Pleasant hiking area" it leads to "Tar Jacket Ridge" on the way to "Spy rock" and the "Priest Mt, shelter" was there water at the spring on the left side of the shelter? The swinging bridge crosses over the Tye River. The very hard climb after the bridge is "Three Ridges" That is about the hardest climb in Va. Looking good, have fun Dave.

    Watching this after having watched the PCT is so cool for many reasons, but awww the beginning of Dixie's friendship with Perk! Such a cute little "odd couple."

    I loved watching this! My in-laws live in Wintergreen and we have been on quite a few day hikes on the AT. They also have a lot of bears visit their home each year!

    I jumped off the James river bridge when I went to Liberty years ago! A couple of us picked up a few hikers and talking with them, that’s when I realized I wanted to hike the AT too. It’s now a $125 fine to jump if you get caught, but of course people still do.

    Love the videos. Bet the bear was looking for his strawberries you ate. Beautiful scenery and looks like being close to civilization has helped your food choices. Great tie. Hehe

    Why were you not afraid of that black bear? Aren't they dangerous?

    • @RiverWulfOntheRoad
      @RiverWulfOntheRoad 6 лет назад

      S Lhines77 Potentially, but not really. Most black bears are more afraid of you then you are of them. I've seen over 20, and all but 2 of them took off running when they noticed me. Now don't get between a mama bear and her cubs though, then they can be very dangerous. The bears you need to worry about are grizzlies.

      @geritisdale-brock7247 5 лет назад

      Black Bears aren't too dangerous. I've stayed at a National Forest in Pennsylvania back in June 2018. The caretakers said the camp site recently had a black bear come through and eat some marshmallows, and other goodies someone had left out, but otherwise it was harmless. Just told us to keep our food in our vehicle.

    The James River comes from Florida and flows North.

    • @1903A3shooter
      @1903A3shooter 8 лет назад +6

      Not on the planet Earth. The James River comes from the Chesapeake Bay that will take you far north or you can take it out to the Atlantic, then it flows around the point at the first of Newport News Va. then under the James river bridge and past my house, up to and past James Town and James Town Island where the settlers stopped in 1607 and started the VA. colony, You might want to check a map.

      cchgn when I need help field stripping a weapon ill ask for your help. Your comment was one of the dumbest comments I've seen on RUclips. I like how you had to preface it by saying you were in the marines for 8 years like theirs some kind of correlation between being trained to kill and foraging for edible wilds. Sounds to me like youre confusing 8 years in the military for 8 years of playing call of duty.

    Not exactly the most appropriate response to seeing a bear in the wild.
