When you want to be on Broadway but your parents force you to go to Yeshiva... this is just amazing!
"You won't succeed on Broadway if you don't have any Jews!" from "Spamalot")
Lol. Thank Gd for Torah

Lol. My son just learned the Broadway version and just turned Bar Mitzvah (although without a big Bash, as I couldn't afford on my own). It's his 1st fast since turning Bar Mitzvah and putting on tiffilin for 1st time last week. I'm definitely sharing this with him! Thank you!
I once heard a Rabbi say that you can sing Adon Olam to any melody. It's true and how lovely!
You can, and if you go to the Museum of the Diaspora in Tel Aviv you can hear a million tunes of this song.
Definitely true!

Hallo rafi wir liebe
It is true. I myself as a cantor soloist have sung A few variations of adon olam at services. This rendition was really great and The cantor’s Voice and rendition is terrific. I enjoyed this a lot.
Indeed you can. Personally, I like the tune of Hernando's Hideaway from The Pyjama Game.
Proof that Adon Olam can be sung to almost any song, including songs from the musical Hamilton.
Most fun I've ever had at a Bat Mitzvah - and I wasn't even there. What a great gift.
Zoe is one of the sweetest people I've ever seen. Cantor Schwartz's voice is heavenly.
Coolest Cantor! He’s even got the children jumping down the aisle! LOVE IT!
This is excellent! I wanna have this cantor at my Bat Mitzvah...except that I'm 53...and Unitarian... : )
:)
I did my bat-mitsvah as an adult when I was 32 years old.
Kristen Plumley it’s never too late!!
Ah i think there’s ample call for a UU response... I’m gonna make one!
😂😂😂
Have heard Adom Olam to many, many tunes. This was is far the best.
linda lambeck Have you sung it to ' Take Me Out To The Ballgame'?? OR 'rap' it? We've done it those ways in our synagogue! I like the 'original'...although this 'Hamilton' version is amazing!
very nice and blessed Greetings from Thessaloniki, Greece, from Greek Orthodox brothers. We love you !!!
The look of delight and sheer bliss on Zooey’s face is priceless... What a memorable Bat Mitzvah Azi helped her to have...
I am so happy I found this. It makes me want to move to NY just to join this Synagogue. The joy this bought to the chapel and omg the Cantor's voice is amazing. Zoe's special day in her life will be shared by the world for years to come. Thank you Zoe and have a great Sweet 16 too.
Oh my goodness, this is amazing! And that cantor can SING!
Adam B. I feel the same.
Stunning performance as usual
Beautiful voice.. worshipping our amazing God should be fun like this!
Happy New Year! Shalom 💫💕
This is one of the greatest things I have ever seen.
Honestly same
Sometimes I really wish I'd been born Jewish. I love your music and your way of life. Shalom!
You could always convet
So sweet
Look at it this way: maybe you were born to be Jewish, and just need to take that extra step to join the Tribe. That's what I did, and it was the best decision I've ever made!
@@kateelias1904 Me too Kate. I would love to discuss with you. I was attracted to Jewish people, culture, religion for many, many years before I took the step. I have never looked back and feel a sense of belonging like I never felt below, like I have arrived home at last.
@@karenariellee4385 you have a Jewish soul, your ancestry isn't everything. The original Jews were all converts from different ethnical backgrounds too
Magnificent. A combination of the joy of a Bat-Mitzvah, a song from arguably the greatest musical ever and one of the greatest voices I've ever heard.
NOW, having seen Hamilton, I appreciate this way more than when I first saw it!!👏
I'm not Jewish and do not understand Hebrew, but this was beautiful and sweet!
Well, the beginning was a prayer called the “Alneinu,” and the end was the blessing over wine. My Hebrew is only liturgical, so I did not understand the middle part. Hope that helps.
It’s now 3 years later and we’re in our homes during the pandemic. I saw the movie Hamilton on Disney + and then came across this fabulous video. A very belated Mazel Tov to the lovely bat mitzvah girl from a retired in Florida former New Yorker from a Murray Hill. Thanks for sharing the cantor’s exquisite voice and more importantly the JOY of that day. It’s been hard hearing about illness and death with little hope in sight but this little video just continually makes me smile! Thank you.
I just came downstairs (10AM) and was feeling so defeated by what's happening to America -- then a friend emailed ur video and I felt so lifted up!!! I am a New Yawker - and worked for Hilton Intl. at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (Park Ave) many years ago. So I was touched even more. WOW!!!
You, sir, have an absolutely BEAUTIFUL voice. How wonderful, engaging, and just put a huge smile on my face.
As a Jewish woman and a huge Hamilton fan - THIS IS BRILLIANT!!!!
A memorable (aren't they all, but this? WOW) Bat Mitzvah. Mazel tov Zoe.
My very dear Cantor Avi Schwartz you bring to me gladness, hope and force as you cannot imagine yourself. Thank you very much. May Adonai bless you forever.
What a beautiful voice and such a brilliant idea. Thank you Cantor Azi!
I haven't been to shul in 15 years, since I quit my job as Education Director at a Conservative synagogue! Just watching this brief video stirred something in my heart. Maybe now I can overlook all the ugly things and disappointments I experienced, and go back to join the community. Thank you for posting this lovely video! Ani Modah lecha.🙂
Everything is online now. I invite everyone to check out my shul in Philadelphia, PA (www.kol-tzedek.org/). We've been using Zoom since the very start of the pandemic and worked out most of the bugs early - Friday nights, Saturday mornings, shivas, leynings and so much more (as well as upcoming High Holy Days services).
Me too and I live in Israel!! I do pray, just by myself but this rendition was joyful! We are on total lockdown for the next 3- weeks now for the chagim but I’d like to know who this Rabbi or Cantor is, and where’s this beautiful Shul- anybody know?? Absolutely loved this!!
@@berdie4josh I'm not sure where Cantor Azi
Schwartz calls home. I found him on Spotify. I was searching for old albums with Israeli singers from "back in the day" (Chavah Alberstein, Nomi Shemer, for example). I like to listen to these singers to keep my modern Hebrew fresh, plus it's fun for me to listen and reminisce about the past, when I was happily living b'Aretz. I wish I could help you discover where his home base is (if he indeed has a home base). I remember finding (again on Spotify) various albums where he sang with other chazanim, at various events, over the years.
As I wrote in my original post, I got totally burnt out and disillusioned after working as Education Director for those 13 years at a shul in Denver. Hearing Azi Schwartz's voice gave me a much-needed boost & reminded me of the warm and wonderful times before I became a "professional Jew" and was forced to pull back the curtain and see the inner workings of synagogue life.
Good luck with another lockdown! I truly know how difficult it can be. I live in Denver, Colorado. I've been homebound since mid March!😣 Having access to friends old and new on the internet has somewhat helped me keep my sanity. Lots of RUclips videos and Amazon shows (available as a Prime member), plus books I've ordered through the Kindle app have helped me not get totally crazy about this situation. I hope you have access to some of these resources, or others that provide entertainment.
I'm not sure if Spotify is/is not available to those who live outside the confines of continental North America. Let me know if you have trouble going through them, or any other music app, and I'll try to help you get his music so you can enjoy his albums as I have. Likewise, if I can reach out and help you in any other way, please let me know!
Wishing you Chag Sameach, an easy fast and lots of safety and security from all the threats that are falling on you and all Klal Yisrael at this time!
@@nsloane5384 Cantor Avi Schwartz hangs his kippah at Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City.
Gorgeous and lucky Zoe. I hope Lin-Manuel Miranda listens. At his wedding he and the wedding party performed "To Life" from Fiddler on the Roof.
This whole video makes me incredibly happy! Zoe’s delight is infectious and I can’t help but smile while I watch her. I love to tune in and see what Cantor Azi has in store for us each week! All the best to you, Zoe, and Cantor Azi!!!
Look at how two different cultures just harmonize and create a beautiful gem. Immigrants they get the job done ❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful voice! Not to mention what a fabulous idea! She'll never forget it!
It must be challenging to be rabbi there. Every service you have to follow one of the world's great vocalists.
The rabbis are excellent, all three of them but especially Rabbi Cosgrove.
Different roles; different expectations; different contributions. And BTW, neither a rabbi nor a cantor is necessary d for any Jewish worship service. Their respective roles are shaped and created by the community (congregtion) they serve.
@@rosalindpaaswell9513 Just to be clear since i think you might have missed the point. I was complimenting his vocal abilities.
@@knutthompson7879 You are absolutely right. I did miss that as the point your were making, and I (along with everyone else) agree with your observation about his talent. So, point taken. , FWIW, though, my points, although completely unrelated to what you said, are still interesting. Many people not familiar with Jewish practice might not know that the roles of rabbi and cantor are (a) very different, (b) depend on the individual congregation, and (c) not necessary for Jewish worship. So, thanks for pointing out what you meant and apologies for gliding right by it.
What a treat for the bat mitzvah girl!
This film is really making my day!
I am sooo happy for this beautiful girl, growing up, being surrounded by so much loving support from her community and this is how life should be!!
Young girls, our pearls of life, need to be protected and surrounded by love, encouragement, and so they can grow!
I wish all the world would treat the young girls like this!
God was so right to point out the Jewish to be example for the rest of the world!
So like this here, in this film, we all should surround with love and wisdom, our young girls!!!
Magnificent! Now my daughter wants us to sing Adon Olam this way at her Bat Mitzvah. And such a beautiful voice, Cantor Schwartz.
I hope she has done as she wanted...
Sensational! All our shuts should have this vibrancy!
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO - I was lifted and laughed out loud at the same time. ✡️🤴💙
Zoe is just beaming! How much she will remember the day!
I wish my dad could have seen this. He would have loved this!!!!
I know this was from so many years ago, but I am literally crying listening to this. Two things I LOVE, my judaism and the brilliance of Hamilton. Cantor can sing!!!!!!
I vote to make this the official version. ;)
Beautiful, joyful, inspiring, makes one hopeful for love and peace in this world. Shalom
J'aime bien ce cantor, il a une voix exceptionnelle ❤❤❤J'aime bien cette assemblée,c'est vraiment sympa ❤❤❤
Wonderful!
Absolutely love this Adon Olam! Thank you Azi.
Tears of joy every time I see that young lady so happy and the Cantor, who has the best voice possible!
This is just wonderful! When I finish my conversion...I'd be touched to have him sing, even over zoom!
what a beautiful gift!
Awesome! Wow!!
How beautiful!
From an orthodox at Israel, condolences and share your grief over the massacre at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. You are our Jewish brothers - we are one: different flavors of unity. A tradition of 2500-4000 years. You are our big sister, who supported as during the independence war and during Yom Kipur 1973 war and always.
Touching words - Shalom to all big and small Jewish sisters - and brothers
What a beautiful Synagogue not to mention fabulous canting!
I listen to this several times a week. Such joy ..how lucky for that sweet bat mitzvah...she was glowing and enjoying Cantor whom I have come to admire and love!
What a great voice! So much joy in worship! Love this!!!
In many cases the thing I love best in Jewish liturgy is the depth of meaning in the prayer. This is no exception:
He is Lord of the universe, who reigned ere any creature yet was formed:
At the time when all things were made by his desire, then was his name proclaimed King.
And after all things shall have had an end, he alone, the dreaded one, shall reign;
Who was, who is, and who will be in glory.
And he is One, and there is no second to compare to him, to consort with him:
Without beginning, without end: to him belong strength and dominion.
And he is my God-my Redeemer liveth and-a rock in my travail in time of distress;
And he is my banner and my refuge, the portion of my cup on the day when I call.
Into his hand I commend my spirit, when I sleep and when I wake;
And with my spirit, my body also: the Lord is with me, and I will not fear.
Absolutely beautiful, Cantor Azi Schwartz. Iris Rosenberg-Cooper of Manassas, VA.

That was fantastic, and I've never seen Hamilton!! #themontagemaven
Azi always makes everyone feel comfortable and brings so much joy and love to the communion of praise. It doesn't matter if you are a Catholic like me, or Jewish. The love of our Father and for our Father translates the same.
This actually brought tears to my eyes. The joy!
Cantor Ari Schwartz, that was incredible! To hear the Adon Olam sung with that form of a melodious harmony, was a pleasure!
I wish more prayers were written like this! Brilliant.
This is magical, I am 58 yrs old, and had my bat mitzvah last month. I'm also a huge theatre nut ( both on and off stage). Spectacular voice, made my morning.
I love it awesome
Tão lindo e alegre!!
I loved this the first time I heard it a couple of years ago, but I hadn't seen Hamilton yet. Now that I have, and have stumbled across this again, I find it even more delightful. What a brilliant idea, Azi!
