There is no question David has not only one of the best voices of the genre, but of all male vocalists period. Such a great cadence to this song. So glad you reacted to this one. Thanks Charis
Stupify was the first Disturbed song I heard on the radio.. followed shortly afterwards by Down with the Sickness. That slightly quieter part in the middle of this song, seems like David's cantor training was coming out.
Disturbed has quite a lot of songs. One that comes to mind, which I've never seen a reaction to, is 'Overburdened'. Rather slow, but very heavy.

This song was my absolute favorite song from them on their debut album when it was released when I was back in high school. I became a fan of the band because of this song. Another song from their debut album that was my next favorite and I believe that it's so underrated is their song "The Game".

This was Disturbed's first ever music video and it made it on MTV in 2000 and gave Disturbed a 5x platinum debut album ('The Sickness') which also produced the singles - 'Down with the sickness' ... 'Voices' ... 'The Game'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
In 2002, Disturbed's 2nd album 'Believe' went to #1 on the US charts... despite MTV banning the music video for 'Prayer' because it depicted buildings falling from an earthquake in L.A. and they felt it resembled the Twin Towers coming down in the 9/11 attacks... they did release more singles - 'Liberate' ... 'Remember'... (My fave was the song 'Awaken' from that record) 🤘🤘🔥🔥
I remember back when MTV they would play music videos back in 2000 I would go to bed having it on MTV and I remember they'd play this one almost every night and that's how I got liking this band

True that! That would be very frustrating for a FOH tech. Cupping the mic is another no-no. Of course it is perfectly fine when shooting a vid.
It’s actually fine to hold the mic cord that way. The problem is when holding it leaves no slack at the connector, which pulls out the interior wires.
In layman’s terms, it’s like wrapping your corded headphones around your phone tightly, or leaving a bit of slack at your connector before doing that.
It's a video...the vocals you hear aren't being sung at the time of recording...
I like the fact that your thumbnails don't look like you're being violated by a pine cone.

David from disturbed is a trained cantor and he works that training into this song and I think he works that into some of their other songs as well.

All these years later and I'm still of the opinion that Ten Thousand Fists, both album and song, are the best Disturbed material. I think it's going to be 20 years soon...crazy
the way he holds the cord of the mic is actually a way to protect it from getting pulled out, or getting jarred out of position to where it would basically break the mic.

Well, in Greek is Charis, but in English, it is translated "Grace".
This was Disturbed’s first music video and single from their debut major label album
Here's a lesser known fact about this song that makes it even more incredible. The part where the melody drops and David sings "Tefached" is sorely under-appreciated. Tefached is Hebrew for "be afraid". So, he is chanting be afraid, while in a straight jacket, and follows up with don't be afraid.
They do thar to ease up on the tension/stress point of the connection, FYI. I was a part time roadie for a few local/regional bands in the past. In a band now myself.

David is great! The part where you said “interesting “, did you mean the outfit change or what he was singing? If it was the singing, he switched to Hebrew. He said תְּפַחֵד (tefached)
which means she will be afraid , or לְפַחֵד (lefached) which means be afraid.
