Don't forget you can always catch rain water off roofs. I bet you get enough rain there that you could get by with 2, 5000 gallon tanks. Enough water for family, livestock and small garden. 2nd property was pretty.
Absolutely, goats and pigs will be some of the first animals because they are so good at transforming the land> Also, they are two of my favorites so that is a win, win! -K
Have you tried looking in the foothills? COUNTIES: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Iredell, McDowell, Rutherford, Watauga, Wilkes. Close to the mountains but still has hills.
The higher price on the second one is because of the nearby industry. They are hoping to cash in on selling to a big business. What you want is out there, the last property was at least flat enough to use it all.
I agree, we thought perhaps starting with goats and then moving pigs in though I am sure pigs could take care of all of it. I am just trying to justify why we should get goats because I want to make goat cheese and show they are multiple purpose ;) -K
The first one might look daunting but those woods are solid hardwoods. The second was nice but I love the maple and oaks over the pines. Thanks for bringing us along on the hunt. ☮️❤️☕️-Kirsten
I agree, I love all the hardwoods and we prefer more woods than pasture to start with. It is so fun to watch these videos back and remember our journey so far. Thanks for coming with us! -K
@@TheKraemerLife The maples will give you syrup as well. Enough for you and maybe some to sell or barter. Remember Ben's pasture pigs, they cleared his land really fast. It even blew him away at how fast they devoured the paddocks he set up for them.
i didnt like the first one at all cant say one nice thing about it but the second one is a lot better lets see what else your resale guy has for you he seems to mesh well with the both of you hugsssssss
No, most of what we have looked at is raw land. For us, the land is the most important and even houses with 'no value' tend to hike up the price so much from what we are seeing in the current market.
We knew flat land was out there...it was trial and error to find it but we did. We have seen some properties with potential and some where I am not sure what you would be able to use it for besides privacy. Everyone is looking for something different and we know our is out there so we keep searching. -K

It is a big deal, thanks!
Thanks for taking us along on the journey!
More to come! and Thanks for coming along!
Hollars used pigs to clear his land...it worked well.
We figured we would be able to do the same (pigs, goats, etc). For the price though, this one was not the right one.

Great suggestion.
Good place to metal detect.Get goats and pigs to clean ivy and underbrush. See Justin Rhodes

The second one looked good, lots of work but great potential.
Yeah, that was a strong contender.
I get good feelings from the 2nd one.
Take your time I know trying to find a place it’s hard but take your time. Kansas
Thank you.
👍👍💞
Working your way through the all the videos...
@@TheKraemerLife yup
New sub from the Hollars. ❤️
Welcome!!

Yep, our search goes into many of those counties, but no all. I search the few that you've listed that we haven't already searched. Thanks!
Be prepared for ticks next spring :)
We will be, they greeted us as soon as we arrived this summer.
Man I'm watching and I'm feeling the stress of looking for the right property. Really enjoying it though
Thankfully we enjoy the searching. But we are both itching to find it!
@@TheKraemerLife hope you find it soon. It would take for ever to get rid of all those ivy by the way.
Why not Kentucky?? We are long distance looking there right now.
We haven't ruled it out and are also long distance searching
You two (+ goldens) are naturals for U-tube, imo. Just need to find the right property and begin your story. Enjoy your videos.
Thank you for the kind words! Thanks for watching our vlogs.
Where in Oregon did you live? I live in coos bay, Oregon. Was just wondering.
We lived in Portland :)
You would make lots of money selling logs and wood chips.
Yes...we are hopeful to find something with a lot of timber so we can use it to build. 😀
Lots of pigs, lots of goats. The 2nd one looked really promising. I still think you should look in Kentucky. Cheaper land & more perks.
What are some of the perks?

Any chance you know where it is? :)
The first property - a brush hog would clear out the underbrush very quickly...then you could have goats/pigs eat/clear out the debris.
how long would it take if we didn't brush hog it first? any idea?
Pigs would do a better job, but both are great

Goats and pigs.
True, I grew up with pigs kept in large cement floor areas and never realized how good they were at clearing land until much more recently.
I love it have lots of potential hard work. But it you want something you have to work for it Merry Christmas
Happy holidays! We are so excited to get some land and start working at transforming it to our dream! -K

Yeah, we like Joshua. Good guy. He works hard for us. and is willing to deal with our pickiness
@@TheKraemerLife dont get me wrong but yeah the women have like o i cant do that i might break a nail lol
No house on that one ?

Nope. Both of these had homes at one point in the past, but no longer.
Finally some relatively level land. Cool to see two properties that are not in the totally unusable category.

Gave up, really easy. Go back to the city.
Haven't given up. Just haven't found our place yet.
