I’ll explain the “plot hole” Harry’s mothers sacrifice was magic created by love. That specific type of magic was not very well known and not considered very powerful from a dark wizard’s perspective. Dumbledore however, had studies this greatly, and knew that if lily’s blood relative was willing to grant Harry a place to live or reside, it would lock in another charm which would grant Harry protection from coming to harm. It’s never stated if it’s only Voldemort who can’t hurt him there, or if it’s just a blanket type of protection. Less likely that he would be able to go toe to toe with Voldemort and survive though, and more just that anyone wishing to harm Harry simply can’t get anywhere near him for some reason. This only works because petunia accepted Harry, and had that not have happened, there would have needed to have been another method to protect Harry, but this worked best because it risked other wizards less. Dumbledore left Harry there as much to protect other order members as it was to protect Harry.
