200ret1 Actually, Bella does get mad at Wardo. Like whenever he drags her to the prom, and she starts crying, and he says "Don't be difficult, Bella". Or whenever he drags her to his car, and then she immediately forgets about it whenever a song she likes comes on (I think it was Clair de Lune). Or whenever he kidnaps her in Eclipse and she's pissed off at both Edward and Alice, and even implies that she thinks it's abusive. Or in New Moon, whenever they're on the plane, when he's barely been back in her life a few hours, and he forbids her from drinking Coke because of the Caffeine, and instead of telling him to shove his disapproval up his ass she lies and says she wants to stay awake so she can spend more time with him. Or whenever Jacob sexually assaults her, and instead of beating Jacob's ass, he calmly and rationally says not to "damage" her, like she's come of object. Or whenever she's trying to find ways to sneak over to see Jacob, and she has to figure out a way to do so without Wardo knowing, as if he's her father instead of her boyfriend (ELECTRA COMPLEX). Or whenever she's pissed off at him for using marriage as a bargaining chip, making her agree to get married to him before she gets sex from him. Or whenever they're on the first date, he orders her to eat and drink something, and she's pissed off at him for making him do it (instead of doing what Buffy would do and tell him to shove his commands up his ass). Or perhaps the biggest one of all, he abandons her in New Moon, cutting her off from all the other Cullens (including Alice, who she's supposedly best gal pals with), taking away all her stuff she had of him so she can't heal on her own terms, all of which makes her slip into psychosis and suicidal behavior (it doesn't matter if she wasn't TRYING to kill herself; it's still suicidal. People who cut but aren't doing so to die are still considered performing suicidal actions). But really though, Bella is so unrealistic. She seems to get off on it instead of doing what a real woman would do.
Though I realize this is a 5 year old comment I still want to respond lol. You got most of the plot points correct, but stating that Bella is an unrealistic character is not correct is my opinion. There are many valid arguments against her character-- she is attracted to an obviously very creepy and fucked up guy for one, and is completely reliant on him for two. One of the most spoken of character faults is that she is bland and doesn't have much going for her. The fact that every single guy in her new school immediately falls in love with her or whatever seems unfounded, but she wasn't really meant to be some wonderful character who actually deserves the amount of attention she receives. Bella is something of a blank space in the story for young girls to insert themselves into via her very vague personality and physical traits. And I'd say this definitely worked given how many young girls truly identified with her and wanted to be in the place to pick between an array of hot suiters showering attention on them. You compare Buffy to Bella as an example for what a "real woman" would do (Again yes, I understand that this is a 5 year old comment, and I don't mean this as a character judgement of you or anything. I just think it's an interesting conversation.) but I think that's an unfair assessment. Bella (and by extension every fangirl who has every loved this story and wanted to live it, including myself) was taught to react to men the way she does. Edward is one hundred and FUCKING EIGHT YEARS OLD. ALL of the blame for their fucked up weird codependent relationship is on him. Not the seventeen year old girl. So to wrap up (lol this was way longer than planned.), A, Bella was not an adult woman in this story and should not be expected to deal with the complicated and confusing relationship dynamics in a reasonable way like a mature woman. And B, she reacts to the situation in a culture-trained way. That does not make her any less of a legitimate person/girl/woman. She "got off on it instead of doing what a real woman would do" because she was never taught to value herself in the way Buffy seems to have been taught (soz, I've never watched Buffy). So she gained her value and self worth and happiness from the place all girls and women are taught to derive it from: men.
This is awesome, though it would work better if the color gradings of the "dialog" scenes matched better. Buffy tends to be pretty saturated and warm, with lots of yellows and reds, whereas Twilight is much more desaturated and cool, with lots of pale blues and greens. It wouldn't be too tough for a good editor to grade this so they meet in the middle, which would give it a much stronger feeling of continuity.
Using those tones actually serve to make the Twilight clips look "dead" really well. Like Edward is draining the life out of everything he's lurking near, like some kind of psychic leech.
Back to this classic, since I'm binge-watching Pop Culture Detective's videos. Just to point out that most of Buffy's lines here are addressed to either Angel or Spike, both of whom she ends up romantically involved with. This doesn't make her any less of a bad-ass, of course, nor does it make Twilight any less trashy and disgustingly backwards, BUT Buffy did have a soft spot and a blind spot when it came to her vampire allies/stalkers. PS For some reason, I really wanted her to say "that'll put marzipan on your pie plate, bingo" after she stakes him.
This is hilarious. It is beyond my imagination how something as bad as twilight could get so popular. If I had a daughter, I would never let her watch it, such a bad influence. Buffy on the other hand is a strong character I would proudly show my kids...oh how I love and miss Buffy ~~
I'd especially watch twilight with my hypothetical daughter. The movies are hilarious! I've never seen such bad acting/script/logic in a movie before 🤣
Wow. Round of applause. This was a very smart idea to create an edit with the Twilight film to show the appropriate response to Edward's sick obsessive behavior and though it was supposed to be twisted natured it was actually entertaining to watch, parts of it had me laughing out loud, particularly his response when she told him she was the slayer. While however, Buffy was the perfect fit she was also hypocritical. Her relationship with Angel was in many ways identical and even on some level worse. Angel too stalked her and invaded her bedroom, and in BTVS lore the only way it was possible to get through her window was for her to invite him to do so (in addition he took her to prom and then left her so he wouldn't hurt her but those points are not relevant here). To top it off he in human terms was a 25-year-old man attracted to a 16-year-old minor. At least Edward's human age was 17. There is actually a term for this: Statutory rape! Angel could have ended up register as a sex offender in the state of California. Team Cangel! Then there were a couple flaws with the editing. While the scene and dialogue merging were fantastic the interactions would have felt just a bit more like they fit together if you'd done some work with the coloring of the footage. Twilight's cool and bright hues next to Buffy's exact opposite warm and dark hues are a contrast that heavily stands out. Also, I felt the "I'm on a special diet' and 'I feel very protective of you' lines were kind of random and didn't really fit. I'd maybe have started with the "I can read every mind in this room apart from yours." line. It's a bit more of a believable conversation starter. The phone conversation would have also made more sense if his two lines "You and I are gonna go somewhere alone" and "I don't have the strength to stay away from you" had been delivered in reverse. Though Meyer has stated that she never intended for Bella to be seen as a role model, our intentions do not dictate the responses we receive and a startling amount of young girls find Edward to be the ideal boyfriend because she doesn't exactly make an effort to express that his behavior is unacceptable. In general, fiction is not meant to be taken seriously nor is it meant to be realistic, believable but not realistic. There is a difference, for example, a vampire frying in the sun vs sparkling; neither is realistic because there are no such thing vampires but the frying is more believable. Nonetheless, writers need to be careful of what they put out there because there are people out there who will take a work of fiction scarily seriously. UPDATE: I now have a t-shirt that says: "And Buffy staked Edward--the end." XD
With the whole 'Angel' thing, Buffy knew it was wrong and didn't want it. Angel also didn't want it as he knew it was wrong too. It ended badly and they moved on with their lives, whereas Twilight... Bella just mopes over no sparkly-obsessive-vampire for months on end without doing anything or moving on. You can't really say the Buffy/Angel thing is anything alike Twilight's Bella/Edward- there are many differences, plus the Buffy/Angel relationship seems a lot healthier because Angel isn't threatening to suck her blood every time she's around.
ShadowOnTheWall I'm currently watching Angel, still in the mid season 2, however. I didn't really ever like Buffy/Angel I always preferred Buffy/Spike for various reasons- but Angel/Cordelia is one of my OTPs c:
NarutoFirestarLoLz Yay, mine too. Love meeting other Angel/Cordelia fans, they are so under appreciated. What happened to her in season 4 was so messed up.
NarutoFirestarLoLz Not to worry I almost went into detail but your use of the word 'watching' rather than 'rewatching' caught my attention and I changed my comment. Right, she falls into a coma but it's what gets her there that is messed up. I'll say no more than that. Let me know when you've watched it though. :)
Naomi Arato Yeah, well but then they were mortal enemies and still she teamed up with him to win Angelus, while she could kill him. Even later when he had the chip she could kill him,but didn't.
Naomi Arato a) still didn't and even refused to every single time he asked her to do it and it was multiple times b) that's cause after the dysfanctional relationship involving only sex,she came to love him and trust him
I'd never noticed the blue-green filter used in the Twilight movies, but now that I have, it's distracting and ugly. That inherent problem with the movies aside, this was very clever.

HA this really enhances Edwards creepiness.
Soooo good! But my heart broke a little at the sight of Cedric T_T
I think all our hearts did.
Quite believable really. Buffy could totally kick Edward's ass.
The amount of thought and effort that has gone into making this makes me believe in humanity again.
True
Using those tones actually serve to make the Twilight clips look "dead" really well. Like Edward is draining the life out of everything he's lurking near, like some kind of psychic leech.
Tru dat
Still better then Twilight.
Oh wai-
No ldon't ned
Twilight = 50 shades of grey
Yet again proving how much Buffy kicks ass and how much Twilight sucks it!
I've never seen Buffy (I now really want to) but I have seen Twilight and honestly this was a massive improvement, thank you so much
Back here after a decade, and the nostalgia rush is real.
The editing and scene selection is fantastic.
This deserves to turn into a movie
That was hilarious! I love Buffy's reactions (as always), she's just so tired of his shit. It was well put-together, bravo! :)
I've never seen such bad acting/script/logic in a movie before 🤣
Doesn't she have like multiple relationships and none of them are very long? I've read about Buffy and she seems like she "gets around."
The sad thing is that only Buffy fans would be watching this!😂
Rae esser I haven’t seen the series but I watched this
Haven't seen Buffy, but I love to hate twilight 😀
Simply masterpiece!
Was anyone else like STAB HIM BUFFY! Through the whole thing?
Never get tired of watching Buffy stake Edward, this is still an A+++ vid.
ShadowOnTheWall Ssssshhhh, just finished season 2 XD (But I think I know what your talking about, something with a coma?)
Amazing job! Although,i'm sure Buffy wouldn't have waited that long to kill him. Only Angel and Spike have that privilege.
no she tried to kill spike multiple times. especially in the first season.
Naomi Arato
Yeah, well but then they were mortal enemies and still she teamed up with him to win Angelus, while she could kill him. Even later when he had the chip she could kill him,but didn't.
a) still tried
b) that's cuz she kept fucking him
Naomi Arato
a) still didn't and even refused to every single time he asked her to do it and it was multiple times
b) that's cause after the dysfanctional relationship involving only sex,she came to love him and trust him
after he almost raped her...
wasn't it at the end right before he died tho?
Honestly, this is very well edited.
That was so perfect that I don't have words for it. :D Ecellent cutting!
I'd never noticed the blue-green filter used in the Twilight movies, but now that I have, it's distracting and ugly.
That inherent problem with the movies aside, this was very clever.
**hisses at you with my fangs exposed**
This is a brilliantly executed mash-up of these two shows.
The idea and story are really good but I'm even more impressed about the editing! Excellent job! Keep up the good work!
the editing of the action scenes at the end was phenomenal hhhaahah damn Mac
Poor Cedric can't catch a break. XD
I loved that they used some frames from harry potter!
This is so well done it's amazing!! Thank you oh so much for this! Now I've got the urge to go re-watch Buffy the Vampire to see more of her wonderful snark and confidence!
This was really fun! Love the way you did it. It must have been such a huge lot of work, so thanks :D
That was actually brilliant. And it was a pretty cohesive story!
This is just so fantastically timed!
Well done - can't believe this was posted eight years ago & I've only just now seen it!
You are my best RUclips subscription since I started using RUclips for learning about how the media warps our perception of seemingly obvious issues. Thank you Pop Culture Detective.
This is sooo good!!! Unbelievable, keep up trade good work :)
It was quite priceless!!! I would want to see this sort of thing again!! It is hilarious~ Especially the part where she said, "If you don't, I would drop you head first..." And then... was that Angel dropping? I can't quite remember...
i've not watched either shows but this is entertaining! the editing is amazing, looks like it could be a real story!
I DIDN'T KNOW YOU ALSO MADE THIS KIND OF VIDEO OMFG I LOVE YOU
This has actually made my life lmao. #teambuffy 👊
OMG.... OMG This is really truly amazing! I haven't watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer yet... but this video is WoW... Make more, plz!!!!
What are you waiting forrrrr, you have 7seasons worth of women power homework
I am so grateful that you made this video !!! I finally got closure
A really clever edit that makes for a brilliant little mini-movie. Kudos guys! An excellent (and brilliantly insightful) job-well done! ;>
GO BUFFY!
That one scene from Harry Potter though XD
I am very glad I saw the video before I read the description. I would never expect an entry in the Glorious War Against Tumblr-Trending Bigotry to be so well-done and make so much sense.
OMG, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS MASTERPIECE. I hope it turns viral again ahahaha
All these years and never gets old
That is the best thing ever.
Still one of my favorite videos even after many many years, Thanks.
That fight scene was an amazing edit. Great job!
This is awesome!
Excellent- nice editing. Good thing he met that wimpy chick Bella instead of Buffy !
I recognised the Harry Potter scene immediately and got way to excited lol, this is an awesome edit!!!
😂😂😂 This for taking the time to make this video. It made me laugh & this video is awesome. Well done. ❤❤❤
This was bloody perfect, I'm upset I haven't seen this until now 😢
This was perfection! Absolutely fantastic job!!!
This is the best BtVS vs Twilight video ever! I never get bored watching this
Great vid bro. Would love to see a "Angel vs. Edward" or a "Spike vs. Edward" vid. Thatd be epic lol
See, now *this* would have been worth the price of a movie ticket.
i was a die hard twilight fan and i also adore Buffy. a million years later, this is still one of the BEST fan made cross overs i've ever seen. so glad that i remembered the name.🥰🥰🥰🥰
How have I never seen this before? This was... perfect. This is also now my official head canon for what really happened in Twilight. Who knew that all Twilight needed was a little Buffy? So awesome.
2018 checking in. This is still one of the best things on RUclips.
this is just TOO funny!!!!😂 Especially when she tells him to get out tht part is hilarious
Wow - I just realized how creepy this Edward McSparklydude actually is. o_O
never paid much attention to the Twilight-Movies, but now it seems to me that there´s actually something far more disturbing to them than just sparkling vamps.
Sidenote: In this mix, Buffy has a surprisingly high amount of patience with Edward before she finally dusts him. Usually she kills Vampires on the spot for less severe offenses. Though I could see this working as an actual episode :D
Wow amazing work..i applaud you for this hard work putting together n editing. Nice. Felt sorry for Edward though LOL Buffy is something else. Tough as a nail..
Lol at the bedroom scene n window hehehehe
This is sooooo good! Buffy rocks! I love how many times she rolls her eyes. Priceless! Thank you for making this
Holy shit, this was made in 2009....
Man time flies, lmao
Pwnasaurus Rex And it still makes me laugh
BUFFY ALL THE WAYYYY! ❤️
Now that is some incredible editing. Bravo!
How have I not seen this before now?? This is genius!!! MORE PLEASE!!
"I like watching you sleep".
(remembers the whole Angelus sketching incident)
Congratulations, Edward, you picked the single worst person on the planet to say that to.
This is pure gold, I love it haha, Edward never seemed more creepy and idiot 😅 I love buffy
Beautifully edited!
That was epic. How did I never see this before?! Loved it!
