you should open a restaurant. i learnt the dry bbq rub from you. since i have made that dry rub from your channel. all the rest from my cupboard is gone in to bin. you are a good chef. thanks and please do keep making videos. you are a genuine guy
Great video. You covered all the steps. I will be doing this method thisThanksgiving. Your instructionals are consistently spot on. Thanks.
Thanks I appreciate that. Let me know how it goes and thanks for watching!
I love smoked turkey. I always stuff mine with bead stuffing and truss the bird tight. I also place my birds on a rack in a pan to catch the drippings and to be able to add water for heat distribution. When done the drippings make gravy that make granny jealous.
Sounds delicious!
@@TruBBQtv Brian sent me.
will be doing a 20 pounder on a WSM 22.5 armed with a Cajun Bandit ring & rotisserie Thursday. will use some of your recipe injection, rub, and baste tips. Thanks
Best turkey !!! In the oven for me . 1 oven bag (big) . Put what ever you want for flavor . Put the turkey in the bag upside down !! Put the turkey in the oven on it's lowest setting (like 11pm ) and check it around 10am . Jack the temp up to around 400 for about 30 min and it's good to go ..
Looks great, had to sub. Will try this tomorrow. Thanks mate.
Awesome. I'm going to do this.
Glad you liked it! Let me know how it goes. Happy barbecuing!
awesome. can you a video or 2 on you smoking methods? would like to see how you get the fire going, what kind of wood you use, etc. I'm always looking for tips!
+Anthony Riggio I'll try to make one this summer. Thanks for watching!
thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
What type of digital thermometer are you using? Turkey looks great!
Thanks! It's the Maverick ET-732. Check out my review and a link to where you can buy one on my website: www.tru-bbq.com/bbq-supplies/
Dude your cooks look awesome....Do you use water in your WSM?
+latorrie smith Thanks! I used to, but no longer do. Water definitely helps regulate the heat, but if you know how to dial in your smoker, it's not necessary especially with a WSM since they hold their temp really well. Also, I love bark on my meat and water in the pan creates too much humidity to create a nice heavy bark. No water in the pan is also one less step and makes cleanup easier. I do line it with foil though. Also, when smoking a lot of meat, by the end of the cook the pan is filled about halfway with the juices from the meat, so in a way I do fill it! You should try both ways and stick with the one you like better. Thanks for watching!
Did you use any wood chucks/ chips and if so what flavor?
Crafty Lefty I use wood chunks (never use chips!). I like using a mix of pecan, apple, and cherry. Thanks for watching!
Great looking bird does injection need to cool before injecting?
+Steve Zuffa No, you can let it cool for a little bit, but because of the butter if you let it cool too much it'll solidify. That being said, I wouldn't inject the night before - this step should be an hour or two before you plan to put it in the smoker. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
My mother, bless her heart and RIP, would kill meat with the heat. Whether it was chicken, roast beef, turkey or prime rib (assassinated!), she would cook meat to death. We survived, but I later learned that meat could be more delicious and more savory. My brother and I would weep every Christmas when we came over and saw the well-done prime rib.
haha well better late than never. An instaread meat thermometer is your best friend.
How many hours should I expect to smoke a turkey this size?
MrSnowboarder1980 A turkey what size? I explain what to expect in the video.
The size you used. I think you said 13 pound. I understand the finished temp it needs to be just want to get an idea of how many hours it took you, roughly?
MrSnowboarder1980 Around 3-4 hours. There are a lot of factors involved though so take that with a grain of salt.
TruBBQtv John Foley got it 👍thank you sir. Lot less time than I thought.
Great looking Turkey! Maybe I missed it but how big was your bird? Scott - IG @steeldrumsmokers
Thanks! It weighed in at 13 pounds - a good size for smoking.
Loved the video I might try this one day IG @jones529 about to check out your other videos
Awesome! I really appreciate it.
