@@LarrytheMan-uc4ev I don't know why some people have to be so rude, even if you were correct, which you're not, there's no reason for it. Here you go from Wikipedia: In 1957 the company (Epiphone )was acquired by Gibson parent company CMI, who merged Epiphone operations with Gibson.[4] Between 1957 and 1969, the Gibson-owned production of Epiphone instruments took a parallel path to those marketed under the Gibson brand, with many equivalents between the two lines but also some instruments unique to the Epiphone range. The marketing strategy used was that since the number of Gibson dealerships was limited by design, equivalent quality instruments under the Epiphone label could be offered for sale through other dealerships thus in principle increasing market share overall. This arrangement lasted until 1969 at which point Gibson decided to cease production of the high grade, U.S.A.-made Epiphone instruments in favour of a cheaper range of lower grade instruments still bearing the Epiphone label, but now sourced in Japan. By the late 1970s, Epiphone production began moving to Korea, and by the mid-1980s, all Epiphones were Korean-built. Beginning in 1997, Epiphone moved its production to China and Indonesia.[5] Since merging with Gibson, the brand has been used for a number of different guitars, some manufactured by Gibson itself in its own factories, and some manufactured by other companies such as Matsumoku under contract to Gibson and marketed under the Epiphone brand.
Like you I'm a Les Paul man...just got my R8 two weeks ago and can't put it down! Have four ranging from a 1983 Studio Standard to the 2024 R8 and love them all!! Rock on Benny!!
Hell yeah John! Love that. Is the studio standard made of alder??? I did a review of a Murphy lab r8 like a month and change back, check it out and thanks for taking the time dude 🙂
Yep Benny...alder wood in Tobacco Burst...it is absolutely my favorite axe. Your review helped me in making that R8 purchase for sure so thanks for your thoughts on it. BTW...also just purchased a Fender Machete amp. A high gain tune amp (with a nice clear channel too) from 2013 with only 300 combo version made. A hidden gem....
I got to tell you Benny, you made the most out of your new studio. The pictures and your desks all look outstanding. I will certainly miss looking at all those guitars you use to have, but you didn't have the same room as you did before, looks great. Congrats on the new house. You got the studio up and running in no time. I look forward to all your new shows.
I'm still in the old house, this is my control room! I took down the guitar room but left my guitar room up, just took some of the keyboards out. I decided it looked much better than the white room which was so empty. I'm here for about another month and that's its a double closing, one on this house and then on my new house. I have a pod coming Monday to Start slowly dismantling my pyramid. I suspect I have about 2 more weeks of videos coming out of this studio, maybe 3
@@TheNeuroticGuitaristSorry I took so long to respond Benny, I wasn't feeling well for a while. Anyway, now I feel embarrassed that I didn't know you didn't move yet. I guess I wasn't paying very close attention as I thought I was. LOL I'll stop with the compliments until I'm sure you moved.
That green is killer!! I thought the bridge pickup on the epi was decent but, going to the split coils and to the neck pickup the Gibson blew it out of the water. The epi sounded a little fizzy. Wouldn’t that green look cool with some black chrome hardware?
For costing 5 times the price, it BETTER blow it out of the water! In my opinion, buy the Epiphone, change out the pickups and STILL save thousands! Gibson sucks! They don't represent gigging musicians.
I have an Epi Modern. I pulled out the probuckers and replaced them with Seymour Duncan Alnico II pro hb. Not a big fan of the probuckers. I really dig the phase switching, and the SDs are better coil split than the probuckers.
I think the probuckers just sound thin and weak to me. It's more apparent as I'm playing from the response of the guitar than it is from the playback of the demo, but it certainly affects my playing. The burstbucker pro was much more satisfying. I imagine throwing those Duncan's in made all the difference? Rock on! 🤘 thank you for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness. 🙌
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist I’m subscribed and I watch and like every vid and shorts, bcz everything you put out gives me a smile and a chuckle. I’m like you, grew up in a loud environment. I laughed at the guy that said your “screaming” put him off. Benny you operate at my wavelength! Keep killing the content, and I’ll keep smashing the like button!!!!
Just got the very same Seafoam Les Paul modern and I love it! That heel carve, while subtle, makes a nice difference! It's a worthy partner to my 2016 standard plus top. Plus that color is gorgeous in person. Depending on how the light hits it can make it more green or more blue.
So what's your feeling good sir? Epi or gibson for pups? Are you with Howard on the splitting vs tapping or do you prefer the tap? I need to know 🤘😜🤘 hope the whole saga with the 58 is going OK. You're definitely putting in for the chase
no, all tapping means is that you are using less wire than a humbucker. So if a humbucker is 10000 winds between two coils, splitting it (going to ONE single coil) would be to go to 5000 winds. splitting would be anything in between 5001-10000 winds. so pending whatever co is making the pickups, it could sound like a p90 (which is really just like a SPLIT single coil, or something much closer to a humbucker
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist I see well thank you for the explanation. I saw one of your Les Paul shorts yesterday and the way you said it’s a passion for you is the same way my parents have described my love for the guitar. I’ve only been playing for seven months and it’s turned into a tremendous passion that I’m glad to have!
I bought a Faded Pelham Blue Gibson Modern Les Paul early in 2020, and liked it so much that I decided to get a Caffe Latte Fade Epiphone Les Paul Modern a few months after. I was floored with how good the Caffe Latte Fade looked and was even more impressed with how it felt, played and sounded. I realized after a while that I was playing and enjoying my Epiphone way more than my Gibson Modern. I also liked the coil split on the Epiphone better than the coil tap on the Gibson, which I just felt was underwhelming. Well, finally I traded the Gibson Modern Les Paul for a Wine Red Gibson Supreme Les Paul mainly because that Supreme in that color was something I couldn’t resist. It worked out fine because the Supreme pleases me much more than the Gibson Modern Les Paul did. Nothing against the Modern, which was a fantastic guitar, but man do I love the Supreme, which has pretty much all the features of the Modern Les Paul. Oh, and that Epiphone Les Paul Modern of mine is never going anywhere. To me, it may just be the best value in a Les Paul. So much fun to play, looks fantastic and just a fraction of the cost of its Gibson big brother. I’m just glad Gibson didn’t offer the Caffe Latte Fade finish on their Modern Les Pauls….it saved me a lot of money and I’m more than happy with the Epiphone one. Either way, I am big a fan of the Modern series.
I had quoted you in my original taping of this but it didn't fit well in the video because of how much info I was trying to get across with the split vs tap. I think the epi is fantastic but the pickups just don't do it for me. They're much more subtle to listen back to than how I felt playing them both but I tend to gravitate towards hotter pickups whereas the epi has more classic sounding pups. I def think the splitting is a more dramatic difference so I can see where one is more appealing than the others. I have some gibsons that tap that don't really sound like you're doing much of anything. The Cafe latte fade is also so nice. Really beautiful colors coupled with 699 which is way cheaper than 2999. But I def feel the difference with the Gibson.
Yup, and I’m more into classic sounding HB pickups, so the Epiphone sounds real good to me. I remember the first time I used coil tap on both my Gibson Modern LP and SG…..I thought…‘That’s it?’ Guess I was expecting more and what I heard did nothing for me. Give me coil split every time.
Hmmm how's that when the pro buckers are highly acclaimed pickups and made with the same exact materials and the same exact bobbins..power of suggestion but the reality is the burst buckers aren't better than the epiphone pro buckers..
@@LarrytheMan-uc4ev Everybody's ear is different. I tend to prefer lower tones vs. higher tones. I haven't watched this video in a while but I'm guessing the Gibson had lower tones
It's got a thinner radius up top similar to the wizard neck, but I definitely prefer the feel of the Gibson. I'm also not a shredder so it's certainly personal taste. Rock on! 🤘 thank you for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness. 🙌
I told Sam Ash to give you a great deal!! But, seriously, buying a new house means broke for 3 years as you spend 10--20% of the value of the home fixing it up! (Maybe less in Boston!)
The Gibson sounds much rounder and more full than the Epiphone. If was going to buy a non-custom shop guitar then I'd probably go for the Epiphone at 1/5 the price and put pickups in it.
I'm just not a fan of the epiphone pups. They sound a lot closer than they feel in the room because they do sound pretty similar if you listen back. I'd def change the pups! But that's me 🤘😜🤘 for 699 the epi is rad for what it is. It plays great
Haven't played it but I believe you can switch those from tapping to splitting on the pc board inside. Jim decola designed them so I suspect I'd like it but I haven't got my hands one yet. Do you have one?
You should have one and make a review, i bought one i like it, my first gibson!!! So far no complains and well also im amateur!! I have an epiphone the dot amazing sound also and prs mccarthy se single cut different sound profile i love them all.
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist my high E string had some buzzing and sustain issues that just could not be eliminated and the tech convinced me just to go back up a gauge. I found it to be even worse so I just sold it. I thought a lot about this issue, and my best conclusion is it has to do with the actual saddle for that string. Must be something about the shape or cut of it. I don’t know 100%
Cool vid. When you get your stuff back, would be cool to compare your Gibson 2018 LP Modern to this new model vs. the Epiphone. I keep wondering if these new Gibson Moderns are just new colors or whether there’s actually any spec and/or playability differences between the 2018 and 2024 Gibson Modern models. Btw, you made a little spec goof. The Epiphone Modern has an Alnico 2 in the neck, but also has an Alnico 3 in the bridge. 👍🏻☺️ Just correcting it to clarify for people who are unaware, not to be one of those hard asses who can’t stand a teeny error, lol. You did write it correctly in a few subtitles during the test, but you said and wrote it wrong in a few other places. In case anyone is wondering, 2 & 3 is correct. Interestingly, when I looked up the Gibson variant pickups once, Gibson only offers Burstbucker Pro “treble” vs “neck.” There’s no mention of a Burstbucker Pro + pickup, though, unless you look up the specs on the Modern guitar itself. Makes me wonder if the Pro + really are the same as the Pro Treble or are something else with a different spec that they’re not currently selling as its own pickup replacement. Question for your dear friend, Jim DeCola, perhaps?! 🤔 Is Pro + the same as the Pro treble with inconsistent labeling . . . or a whole other thing so conspiracy theorists can whisper and worry that they won’t have a replacement available should they ever need one?! 😉😂 Thanks for showing off these Modern guitars. Honestly, that Epiphone is pretty sweet. I’ve heard that some people have dropped the Gibson Modern pickups into the Epiphone and wired it to coil tap. I haven’t heard any examples myself, but you can’t really go wrong with the Epiphone variant for $699 (and often less with dealer discounts). It honestly doesn’t need any upgrading for most people. There is a difference vs the Gibson, but it’s so minimal that it won’t be worth the added money and work to upgrade for the majority of folks. Lots of people gig and record the Epiphone as-is, and they sound amazing. I personally prefer the two-tones figured top on the 2018 Gibson that you have and Epiphones vs. these new solid color figured tops on the new Gibson Modern.
I noticed that, too about the pro +. If you look up the specs of the modern it's there. My guess is that it just refers to the bridge version of the pro. Many times the bridge is wired slightly hotter to compensate for the less vibrations. Gibson also makes a super 57 which they never list on their site but low and behold I found one in my guitar parts box and it says super 57. Thanks for clarification on the 2 and 3 magnets, that would make sense lol 😆
Do you have one matt? They look sick, I'm also a suckered for white! I need to get my hands on one for a review! Rock on! 🤘 thank you for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness. 🙌
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist already subbed. Love the stuff. I haven’t bought one yet. Sweetwater dropped some new inventory of the red ones and it took every ounce of self control not to buy one. The top on that green one in your review was nuts. Just gorgeous.
Modern Les Paul = Wrap around bridge > Tune O Matic Bridge. The neck carve is an absolute necessity. Some belly buts would reduce weight and increase comfort further. Scalloped cutaway would be the obvious choice for even better upper fret access. Compound radius is nice but very 2010. Weight relief could be achieved scooping out the surface of the guitar with contour cuts and a skinnier neck. However some unique switching and pickup options would be a breath of fresh air. 5 way switch and aftermarket pickups from Bareknuckle, Anderson, Lace, Suhr, DImarzio etc would also spice up their brand considerably. Particularly with how good PRS pickups have consistently been improving. Also titanium versus brass hardware. Or taking their pots and going 1 volume, 1 tone, 1 kill pot and a blower switch. You could wire the tone pot to one of the positions so you can isolate a "Jazz" setting you can roll off and not affect the other positions. The creativity can go up more levels. But in regards to look I think the Epiphone paint finish is 100x sexier. Burst Les Pauls and Natural Les Pauls are the best over solid colours. Natural wood like your first Les Paul with the EMG's is my favourite like Gurthrie Govan, Nuno Bettencourt, Ron Thal and Reb Beach's guitars, natural wood crystallising over time. Maybe you could rank the history of Les Pauls with regards as to which is most player/ergonomics friendly? If you had a signature Les Paul designed with everything you know about single cut style guitars what do you steal from Gibson, PRS or others?
the nice thing about the new moderns is that they actually have mother of pearl inlays.. combined with that gorgeous ebony fretboard. honestly it bothers me that the standards doesn't have MOP inlays, especially the newer ones in Bluebery burst that costs 3.5k euros in my country, i am however strongly considering a sea foam green modern. my ONLY complaint is that while they do have the improved upper fret access. they KEPT the heel joint.. i wish that was removed like on the supreme. tho i am more interested in this new modern series than a standard. Side note that Epi moderns top is gorgeous.
I said that to Jim decola which is why he explained it actually helps against the checking and the carve is slightly deeper w the neck shape. W the axcess the neck feels fatter so even though it has more access (literally) it doesn't feel faster. It's weird, because I like how it looks better but really dig this when it was explained to me why. The reason they don't do mop is because vintage Paul's use acrylic. I'm w u, I prefer mop all day which is clearly considered a modern feature. Rock on! 🤘 thank you for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness. 🙌
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist interesting, i will have to find that out once i sit down with a modern and feel the access, against one that has the heel removed.
@SubutaiTuul it's weird that it eats into your palm a little but I remembered thinking the axcess felt a little fatter and cumbersome. I feel the same way about my hp that's it's not better or worse. I think the asymmetrical slim taper neck shape makes a difference in this case

I always try looking for guitars that are “being innovative” and still always land back on a Les Paul. I have three and a heritage custom core H150, and overall, it’s easy to love a good Gibson.
That Creamsicle or as I call it the That Time of the Month burst was on a few Gibson High Performance Les Pauls from 2019 I always thought it was the little brother to the BerryBurst

Gibson may be living in the past ..... but I AM the past! I love Gibsons and these are both amazing. Beautiful and sound great. I like the Gibson better - but probably not 4 times better. I think Gibson should brand Epiphones as Gibsons with a designation - like PRS or Fender - and make the brand stronger, then use Epiphone to make the traditional Epiphone guitars. My two cents. I really dig the interim studio, looks great. UDAMAN!!
That's my control room! I moved stuff into the other room but the white looks weird to me and I hated the lighting. I'm leaving my control room and live room as is for the next two weeks or so and then I'll probably be outta commission for a little bit. I have some stuff in the can that may see the light of day in the meantime. Thanks for sticking w me dude
Ok Benny I’ve watched it all. To me the Gibson sounds muddy. It looks fantastique tho, but I’m listening through studio monitors and the Epi wins easily. But of course that’s my opinion. My style of guitar playing and preferences are different than others. I’m sure others will comment that the Gibson sounds better to them and I’m fine with that. I’d recommend you try both in your local Sam Ash store, use the supplied link in the description for this channel. And for those like me who live outside of the USA try one in your local reseller if you can. Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘
That's the thing dude, there's no right answer. It's subjective. In fact, it's more about how the guitar inspires you to play than even the difference in pickups sometimes. Cheers bro, as always, thanks for taking the time.

The Gibson definitely sounded fuller but there wasn't much in it although like you said, I'm sure it was a whole different vibe in the room sound wise........lovely playing by the way Benny, I don't know why you get other guys on to play when you can play like that bro!
I'm realizing more and more that the sound of the pickups as it happens effects your playing a lot more than how it effects your sound to tape. The Gibson had more compression and sustain where I felt I had to dig in harder for the epiphone. Makes sense because the pickups aren't as hot, but listening back I can totally see where people feel it's negligible. As far as my playing, I super appreciate that comment. It takes me FOREVER to do demos like this. No matter how much I practice or feel good about a riff, it immediately goes out the window when I put a camera on myself. I played everything in this video so much better the very next day. It took me like 90 mins of me yelling at the camera to get 4 mins of that rapid fire back and forth pickup to pickup thing and even them, I'm not psyched with how many playing sounds. It's not bad but I play it much better. Having the camera make you mental is really a thing. So to answer your question, I have people like paul, Cory, matt and Josh on my channel because I love seeing how other people react to guitars and because I love their playing so it takes the stress off of me for at least that video. I also have a very specific style whereas someone like paul is more classic or someone like Matt much more technical so it's nice to change it up. Thanks for your support and the kind words.
Umm Gibson did what first? Sure wasn't the invention of the solid body guitar aka Les Paul that was done by les Paul and Epiphone 11 years before Gibson got involved with anything with Les Paul get your history right boy

Can't fully compare two guitars where the bridge pickup sits so differently relatively to the bridge, only signature epiphones have the same distancing as Gibson
You certainly can, no one ever said it was apples to apples. It's the Gibson modern vs the epiphone modern. Use your eyes and your ears, I just compared em for ya.
You can't gig with a Gibson LP? 😂 Lmao! Does the person who said that realize that people have been gigging LPs since the 50s!? Btw, I freaking LOVE these new LP moderns! I really want one! As far as weight relieved bodies; my 2008, 60s LP is weight relieved and it sounds fantastic! I would never part with it. Extremely resonate.
I'm not a fan of the Gibson "Modern" line. Gibson did it right the first time. Stick to what works. I only own Gibson Custom Shop guitars. I will say that the Epiphone game has really started getting competitive.
The epiphone game is wild. They're def doing the whole anchoring marketing deal where gibson will release something for a crazy custom shop price so an epiphone for 1500 seems normal. But the quality of epiphone has certainly gone up in my book and inflation is certainly a thing
Because it's a vintage correct spec. That's why the modern, the HP, and the Axcess all have real MOP because it's not a vintage feature. If you get a 59 it's acrylic
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist thanks for the info man. Gibson needs to make a les paul with MOP inlays, a 50s neck that has the modern/access cutaway to get into those higher frets!
Sorry brah... there is almost nothing "modern" about that. How about deal with the tuning issues and the fragile headstock BS? That awful bridge. Perhaps the weight???. No removing the pick-guard does not move the needle. You are a LP fanboy. Nothing wrong with that. the most modern LP that I have seen is the BFG... its not so much it is more metal but it is raw and cool and something actually different.
1. It is weight relieved 🤡 2. I'm no one's fan boy 🤡 3. It's a classic design with modern features, the design itself is pushing 80. You are a troll 🤷♂️
Ignoring tapping, splitting, phasing and other stupid cr*p that nobody in the real world actually uses (and I have no idea why manufacturers keep including it), three main positions sound pretty close, definitely in personal taste territory and only a fanboy of Company1 or Company2 will claim "better".
1. If someone is going to spend $3000 on a guitar, there's a good chance they're a serious player. This isn't always the case, but I for one use all of those features. I'm a studio musician. Not everyone needs that stuff and there are plenty of guitars that don't have any of those features (more that don't than do) so it's sorta hilarious that you wanna complain about it because you don't use it. You don't speak for all Guitarists, bro. 2. I agree that the demo comparison sounds substantially closer than it felt like in the room. They're very similar, but the epiphone made me work much harder to get that out of it, so a huge component is how the guitar reacts to the player, much like a car reacts to the driver. You don't wanna be driving a Ferrari at 180mph if you can't handle it. 3. Why does someone have to be a "fanboy" simply because they enjoy something? I love guitars. I love making music and I love the instruments that do that. Am I a fanboy??? Not in the slightest. I am a connoisseur of instruments. Big difference. Connoisseurs deserve respect 🙏 Cheers 🤘🤪🤘
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist 1. As a studio musician, if you need single coil sounds, wouldn't it be way better to use a single coil guitar, instead of a hacked up solution that it neither here nor there? 2. If someone enjoys something, of course that doesn't make them a fanboy. I was referring to some comments that said strait up "Gibson better". Just by listening the video, neither is actually better, they're just slightly different. And I bet all those commenters would fail on a blind test so hard! 3. People who refer to themselves as connoisseurs are worse than fanboys 😝 😁
They're only overpriced if the market says so. If people keep buying them for those prices then simple economics would dictate that they're by definition "worth it." Whether it's worth it to you or whether you even have the taste/skills to discern is entirely a different story.

I don't know why some people have to be so rude, even if you were correct, which you're not, there's no reason for it. Here you go from Wikipedia:
In 1957 the company (Epiphone )was acquired by Gibson parent company CMI, who merged Epiphone operations with Gibson.[4] Between 1957 and 1969, the Gibson-owned production of Epiphone instruments took a parallel path to those marketed under the Gibson brand, with many equivalents between the two lines but also some instruments unique to the Epiphone range.

That green is killer!! I thought the bridge pickup on the epi was decent but, going to the split coils and to the neck pickup the Gibson blew it out of the water. The epi sounded a little fizzy. Wouldn’t that green look cool with some black chrome hardware?
Dude...yes and yes and yes
For costing 5 times the price, it BETTER blow it out of the water! In my opinion, buy the Epiphone, change out the pickups and STILL save thousands! Gibson sucks! They don't represent gigging musicians.
@@timtyler4011 I’m a full time musician. I play roughly 210 gigs a year. 190 of those are on a Gibson

Hi, please can you confirm if this is the assymetrical slim taper design neck? On the website it just says slim taper neck. Thanks
the Gibson is, the epiphone is not
A good comparison Benny well done mate!!!
So what's your feeling good sir? Epi or gibson for pups? Are you with Howard on the splitting vs tapping or do you prefer the tap? I need to know 🤘😜🤘 hope the whole saga with the 58 is going OK. You're definitely putting in for the chase
The neck profile sounds fun.
Not a fan of nibs myself so good on them to make ut modern, full length frets.
Nothing like ruining the binding on a vintage gibson simply because the frets were dead and needed to be replaced
So would a coil tap have more of a p90 tone since it has a single coil humbucker middle tone?
no, all tapping means is that you are using less wire than a humbucker.
I think the Gibson sounded better than the Epiphone. I like Gibson's new lineup of guitars so far this year.
You and me both on both counts Chelsea. But I will say, that orange magma burst and the Cafe latte color they have are the kinda colors I covet

I told Sam Ash to give you a great deal!! But, seriously, buying a new house means broke for 3 years as you spend 10--20% of the value of the home fixing it up! (Maybe less in Boston!)
We are gonna spend more than that from the jump, needs easily 60-80k worth of work w the studio! Gonna be broke for 30 years hahahahaha

Thanks for showing off these Modern guitars.

That's a great one. I'll think about that Ian. Appreciate you taking the time.
the nice thing about the new moderns is that they actually have mother of pearl inlays.. combined with that gorgeous ebony fretboard. honestly it bothers me that the standards doesn't have MOP inlays, especially the newer ones in Bluebery burst that costs 3.5k euros in my country, i am however strongly considering a sea foam green modern. my ONLY complaint is that while they do have the improved upper fret access. they KEPT the heel joint.. i wish that was removed like on the supreme. tho i am more interested in this new modern series than a standard.

Which one did you prefer, the epiphone or the Gibson?
Gibson may be living in the past ..... but I AM the past! I love Gibsons and these are both amazing. Beautiful and sound great. I like the Gibson better - but probably not 4 times better. I think Gibson should brand Epiphones as Gibsons with a designation - like PRS or Fender - and make the brand stronger, then use Epiphone to make the traditional Epiphone guitars. My two cents. I really dig the interim studio, looks great. UDAMAN!!

I'm seafoam green with envy. I'll take the Gibson, please!
You and me both dan!!!! Rock on! 🤘 thank you for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness. 🙌
Umm Gibson did what first? Sure wasn't the invention of the solid body guitar aka Les Paul that was done by les Paul and Epiphone 11 years before Gibson got involved with anything with Les Paul get your history right boy
When did I say Gibson invented the first solodbody guitar, "boy 🤡" Oh, that's right, I didn't. And if you WATCH my channel you'll hear me talking about Les Paul and the log. But clearly you didn't even watch THIS video 🙄
I own that exact Epiphone, I f'in HATE it. Those Gibson BBers smoke the Epi's...I'm purchasing a Gibson modern. Thanks Benny...
If you get one please use the link in the description so I get brownie points! They both sound similar through the kemper but on my ENGL it felt like night and day. I'm not a fan of epi pups but it's interesting to see how much more I dislike them when playing than listening back
@TheNeuroticGuitarist I will definitely Benny. I buy alot of guitars, so I hope SA haggle with you a little bit. Seems I got a Strat yes back from them. Yea, their's something about a Gibson that keeps me coming back for more! There..but worth it IMO...

let's be clear, I ain't trying to sell you anything. I don't give a flying fuck bro 🙌 you do u
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist oh just shut up the bottom line is no one wants Gibson anymore it's all epiphone get used to it boy
I hate the Epi headstock but I prefer the sound
what about it do u prefer?
Can't fully compare two guitars where the bridge pickup sits so differently relatively to the bridge, only signature epiphones have the same distancing as Gibson
You certainly can, no one ever said it was apples to apples. It's the Gibson modern vs the epiphone modern. Use your eyes and your ears, I just compared em for ya.
Im a hardcore rhythm guy. I prefer the Epis tone. Gotta say
nothing wrong w that, it's a great guitar
With distortion I couldn’t tell the two apart.
It certainly becomes exponentially more subtle, there's no question about it.
100% what you said. Rock on! 🤘 thank you for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness. 🙌
"message brought to you by Sam Ash" lmao
...and what's wrong with that?
Sounded like the gibson sounded a lot better on nearly all of the examples.
I agree 100%
Its not if the gibson is better ,its is it worth twice as much
is that a sentence?
Gibson. Hands down.
🎸🔥
How'd I get here.? I'm green with envy.
I sent you the link
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist surfed with an alien 👽, it's becoming clear.
You waving that headstock near the cabinet with the wear on it is giving me anxiety.
good
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Is suspect the worn off edge on that cabinet is from many headstocks hitting it?
I think if your buying Gibson you just want a Gibson.
For sure but not everyone has the money for gibson and I know plenty of people that like epiphone.
🤘
🤘😜🤘🎸🔥
Can we talk about how the Gibsons are making standards with Acrylic Trapezoid? Why no mother of pearl?
Because it's a vintage correct spec. That's why the modern, the HP, and the Axcess all have real MOP because it's not a vintage feature. If you get a 59 it's acrylic
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist thanks for the info man. Gibson needs to make a les paul with MOP inlays, a 50s neck that has the modern/access cutaway to get into those higher frets!
Hmmm. Paused at 9:26 Epiphone wins.
Interesting! I'm glad u dig it. My friend Howard feels the same way. He traded in his gibson modern and ended up getting an epi
Won't be buying any Gibsons after hearing how they stole Zither stands intellectual property. Want a cool modern LP? Buy an ESP instead.
🙌
Connoisseurs deserve respect 🙏
Cheers 🤘🤪🤘
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist
👎
What part? 😜
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist only les paul '59 standard.
Gibsons LPs are overpriced. You can get 2 or 3 quality LP style guitars for the same amount of money as that Gibson. Epiphone, PRS, etc.
They're only overpriced if the market says so. If people keep buying them for those prices then simple economics would dictate that they're by definition "worth it." Whether it's worth it to you or whether you even have the taste/skills to discern is entirely a different story.
