Writing a chapter longer than two pages is too complicated.😥
It would be awesome to read first raw thought drafts of best sellers.
Yeessss. Who do we need to talk to??
I believe it was Stephen King who said it's like going through a collection of horrible ideas
J.K. Rowling has so of her outlines and first rows in a book I think it’s called “a history of magic“ I have it but I don’t know were it is other wise I would tell you the name. But it stamped on the cover with the British library because it’s samples of the pieces and stuff that are in the Harry Potter exhibit at the British library
i beleive they mad a comic adaptation of the raw first draft of star wars. the one where han solo is a big green alien.
ALL THINGS Entertainment I use Airtable for my idea recording.
Don't start the novel with, "It was a dark and stormy night..."
LMFAOOO 💀
Actually the same joke was used by Stephen king in a writing tips advice video
Funny. I used to play a game called "yarn" that starts exactly like that. xD
'Twas a gloomy night, and the heavens were filled with wrath.
Adon Araphel THE HEAVENS😨😱😱😱
Something that helps me evolve my idea is to imagine it as a movie in my brain, I am a very vivid visualizer so I just try to see if it is worth writing

Write your ideas
@@user-qk2zu3cv6m always. My notes are embarrassingly full as are my wattpad drafts😂
I know how to end my story but cant find the beginning...
same
Beginning is really hard.
[ Wanda ] imagine your story backwards. Unfold your story in reverse. Ex. It’s a murder mystery, you have a dead guy. The police are around the body. Who is your dead guy, what was he doing when he was killed, what brought him to the location of his death. Did someone call him for example. Who called him, what information did they offer to draw him there. Did he previously know the caller to trust the info, was he betrayed by that trust? If so why, etc. etc.... I guess try and visualize it as the closing scene of a movie and imagine the scenes that led up to that point... good luck!
My problem is the exact opposite, I love writing beginning scenes buuut then I struggled w progress and ending lol
Nothing but Giant Trees this is where an outline can be a great tool. It’s like a road trip guide. If you want to go from Seattle to San Francisco you could jump on the I-5 and head south, but that wouldn’t be much of a trip or a story. Lol so you map out interesting places you’d like to see along the way, restaurants you’d like to eat at etc. the outline doesn’t give you all the details, it’s just a general guide to help you get from chapter to chapter. Also I find that when I get stuck, I free write and often times it breaks me through a tough spot. I find free writing with one of my characters in mind is particularly helpful. For ex. What’s my character’s favorite color? Where’d he/she grow up? Did he/she have a favorite pet growing up? Once I start detailing that character, ideas start popping out as to where to go next. It works with scenery and locations too... at least for me... I hope it helps! Keep on writing!
Finally-A useful guide that doesn’t curse at me every ten seconds.

Reading the comments made me realize, that I am not alone with to many Ideas but no point of where to start
Ask yourself which are the three novels you would most like to have written, then pick the idea that comes closest to matching those, and start writing that one.
Currently writing my first novel and it's all I can think about 24/7. It's like I'm in my own little world.
Hey,did you finish it!?

I have 2 minor ideas but 1 BIG idea I've been working on for years-an epic fantasy novel that follows multiple protagonists as they explore a world inspired by my favorite childhood fantasy books, movies, and games. (Skyrim, GoT, Dark Souls, LoTR)
I finally got over editing-while-writing, which made the process so slow that it took nearly a year to write 20,000 words out of a goal of 300k! #HappyWriter

I have about 3 story ideas that I keep thinking about.
2 of them are simple novels with a philosophical theme
the other is a crazy fantasy series that I've been slowly developing for at least 2 years now lol
Letting the book idea simmer usually leads to bigger plot breakthroughs for me! Perfect for a fantasy series 😄 But hard to have the self control to not dive in haha

Omg I love you!! I'm writing my first novel and I'm having a really hard time on not crying like a baby because I feel like an awful writer who just keeps ruining the characters, and you just gave me the strength to keep pushing and keep moving on no matter what my insecurities say!!!❤️❤️
I feel like you just changed my life ! Xx I’ve been writing a novel, almost finished it but at a mental blockade, for the past 5 yrs. I’ve written a lot of it but before I completed the actual writing I began to edit my lines...... so I’m half way through line editing and I haven’t even finished the full structure yet! It makes me crazy when I try to think of writing ( I have 5 kids too.... just wait and see how much they do for writing past 6 months of age.. yikes) and now i realise why! I should have finished the full story first! Now I feel better and will get on with that. Thankyou for enlightening me xx and best wishes with the Bub xx

2. Brainstorming - to come up with the STORY
3. Outline - planning the story
4. Writing - TIME TO GO HOOLO!!!

I needed this so much, thank you Vivien
I'm currently writing my first novel, have been writing it over the last year. I have my idea, protagonist, antagonist, and side-characters and setting.
HOWEVER.
I cannot find a decent motivation for my antagonist. I find one idea, but then in writing it does not feel so good. So I struggle with this.
I'm on my THIRD draft for my novel.
I currently have about six different ideas for my novel or continuation for like, second books haha. But for now I've stuck to writing fanfic.
#happywriter
What u explain is the Victorian method of writing a novel- everything is known to the author in advance it is a building's blueprint.
You're halfway there - literally and figuratively. You've already nailed the problem: plotts rise and fall on the motivation for the antagonist. For me, that's the hard part - especially for genre fiction.
Same situation, I'm sticking with fanfiction instead because I can't make original characters to save my life. I have a writing buddy now though, they're very good at making OC's and brainstorming.
Mine is that I can’t find motivation to write it or a decent way to start it.
You have such a great speaking voice.im pretty sure this resonates in your writing.thank you for imparting the knowledge that will allow us beginner writers to avoid common pitfalls on the way to being published.
This really helped me.
I kept editing and editing and it was taking it's toll on my soul 😰 I think I lost what I truly like about my story trying to find out what other's liked

And yes, the main character is Sonic
@@audiocity1979 interesting, well this comment over here is 3 years old. Since then I have did so many changes. But still haven't published it.😁
One way I stay motivated to keep going with the same story is by creating playlists, etc. Playlists full of music I think would fit, animatics that inspire me, aesthetics that fit, etc., and when I feel unmotivated I go through them and it basically gets me excited to write all over again. Also, what I do when I just feel like I *have* to write that other idea, I find a way to incorporate it (usually by making it a story for another character, or a myth that's part of a religion, etc.) into the story. Not only does this help to get it off my mind, but it also helps to really build the world.
Wow thanks for the great tips. You say stuff that i feel when writing all the time. Its a relief to know others feel that way as well.
Wow. I've been waiting for advice like this for ages. It makes a lot of sense. I have so many story ideas that I've scrapped after editing the chapters as I go.
I have two drastically different ideas one is a alien to earth story and one is a super hero story.I think I’m gonna go with the alien one because it’s really speaking to me right now. Also I want to get together with my friend who’s an artist and turn my superhero idea into a comic book.I’m a maladaptive daydreamer though so ideas come and go 24/7 #HappyWriter

Thank you for point #5 as I really needed to hear that today!
I'm currently working on the outline and character profiles for my debut novel Alter, which is about a grieving couple struggling to reconnect after losing a child at birth. I've set a quarterly goal to complete them by the end of March and start pages April first. Alter will have a sequel, perhaps be a trilogy.
Then, I have the Aftershocks - a series about women support group for those who were molested/sexually assaulted, Jonesing - a series about a recovering addict trying to build healthier habits but can't escape her past, MUSE/Porcelain - a series about an artist with a complicated history and the courage to create, Mikellah - an untitled series about a girl with two disabled brothers who strives to be one kid her parents don't worry about yet has her own just as legitimate problems, and an action/adventure novel idea about a conman turned magician showman whose daughter is kidnapped. Outside of that last one, I clearly write dramatic fiction.
I hope the synopsis of my first doesn't create any stress. I wish for you and your friend a happy and healthy delivery.
