Hi, this question is with regards to duty free items - a few months ago my sister bought an iPhone for me from Australia duty free and now I will be going to Australia for my masters, will I have to declare this phone?
Hey just watched your video and I think it is very informative especially for people who have never been to Australia before. I have one quick question though. Would it be okay to bring scented candles on our checked baggage? Do we have to declare it? Thank you in advance!
Great to hear that. If you are coming as a student, we suggest to pack the following: - 1 hand bag - 1 laptop bag - 1 carry bag (around 7 kg) - 1 or 2 luggage suitcases (around 20 kg) Please check the weight that you can bring with the airline you are traveling. Also you can ask if they allow extra luggage for students. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that more bags you are bringing, the more difficult it can be for you to move around. You can also download the packing checklist from our website.
Wow Surprise seeing your comments here, I’m one of your subscribers lol. Sure this was before you left. Please kindly do a video for those traveling from Nigeria in this regard since you have an experience already 😊. Thanks 🙏

Please answer this! Can I bring my latop, my camera, my polaroid camera and my phone... obviously it costs more than 900 AUD but it´s allready more than two years old... or do I have to declare it?
No, there is no minimum but it depends on what you are coming for then it is good idea to bring some cash. For example, if you are coming as a student, it might be a good idea to bring $2000 for your first month expenses.
When Declaring items, are we also declaring for items in our checked suitcase that we pick up after our flight along with the items in our carry on? Sorry if it's a dumb question, first time traveling out of the country.
Hello friend, it's not a dumb question. Yes, you have to decalre everything you are bringing in the country including hand baggage and checked baggage. All the best with your travel.
Mostly packed foods are allowed. but you may need to declare that. Check specific items here: www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/can-you-bring-it-in/list-of-items
As long as you have legally downloaded from the right channels. Not a pirated downloads from torrents etc. They have a right to check your phones, usb, anything you are bringing with you. Hope that helps.
Make sure you have a clear doctor’s note explaining what it is and why you need it and a prescription. You only get fined if you don’t declare items. Even if you can’t bring it in you won’t get a fine if you declare it. Short of illegal drugs, weapons, child pornography (which might have criminal charges) or more than the permitted amount of cash (which you will be charged a tax on), the worst that can happen is it gets confiscated if declared. If you don’t declare it, it gets confiscated and you get a fine.
@@jessicascoullar3737 I'm coming Australia for study Master soon. How much cash limit shall I carry ? Am I allowed to carry cash for 3 years period of study?
mohammed Ali you can carry as much cash as you want provided you declare it if it is over $10000 and you need to be able to show it was legally obtained as this is more of an anti-money laundering rule than anything else. Not sure at what point it is taxed and how much (just that you get fined if over this amount and not declared). Not sure travelling with that much cash is safe however. Probably best to get a bank account set up first and do an electronic transfer. As to how much you will need that will depend on what city you are studying in.
