It’s really sad to see how they declined over time. I saw them like two years ago and again about a year and a half ago, definitely was nothing like this. They’re still OGs in deathcore though and they got me into the core scene so mad respect
he did wear down his vocals but he has them back If you watch welcome to Jurassic park by Chelsea Grin first LOL but those vocals he had on that video he practice those and perfect those crappy vocals to something fucking sick boom My Damnation vocals and its just practice and practice his Evolve highs are the same of the EP and DoE but he pronounces his words more in evolve and puts more power behind them On some live performances today he does the old style for old songs man Alex is sick.
im sure if he could do these vocals hed do them.. hes the man but these vocals are so brutal like theres no way you can keep em with out them wearin away
Sean Hornyak it was a scene music thing back in the days bands didn't wear shoes in small venues (you'd think it's a joke but asking Alexandria did the same back then, and I've been seeing it with attack attack as well)
forgive me for the dumb question but were his inhales loud live or did he do a special mic technique or something? i just can't believe you can actually hear the inhales with the highs live, he did a really good job with that.
+John Barrera-Garza For the early stages of Chelsea Grin, Alex mainly used Inhales for his lows and exhales for his highs. So, you can imagine overtime he was able to project a louder sound. But, you can also see that he is using a technique known as 'cupping' which is when you cup your hands around the head of the microphone so the sound doesn't have anywhere else to travel other than to the microphone. This is usually frowned upon by a lot of people as it doesn't give the highest quality of sound.
@Pyromanen93 well what technique is it then? because it's either edited or an inhale, you don't get those sorts of rolls in the throat with exhales unless you use fry screaming, but if he was he'd have much more volume than what he does. notice the lows are so much quieter than the highs? it's because it's an inhale. either that, or a really really weak exhale. and i do know what i'm talking about, i've been a frontman for the past three years for two bands, a deathcore one and a metalcore one.
@rsownage957 It's the amp producing that sound, not to mention how bad his highs are edited on the record. Listen to all that feedback from his mic haha. I doubt he sounds anything like this without a mic.
Alex can still do his old vocals... In my opinion his vocals get better in every album. Some heavy shit is coming out on the new full length If you have a Vine follow Jacob and Jason they have some teasers.
there was nothing harder than no pity for a coward or crewcabanger. mitch and alex were unmatched. suicide silence whitechapel and chelsea grin. what a time to be alive
@TehJizzCakes I've seen footage with him in studio. When he does his lows, even a dumb person could tell he is doing exhale. inhale growls just dont sound like that, He is just not letting out so much air.
@Pyromanen93 Listen to the recording of it. They are obviously inhales on the lows. You can hear his fries in the highs, but they are not present in the lows. Like the grumbling is gone. YOu can hear him inhaling. Make a video of you doing your "lows" He's doing inhales. And its not a bad thing. He sounds good. So get with it bud.
Either I'm crazy or Alex is doing some tunnely as fuck lows here! This was after they tracked Desolation of Eden and 2 months before it dropped so he's clearly not inhaling here. Shame he didn't stick with this low style.
@UpInTheAirOfficial well actually, inhale screaming is just as hard to do as exhale, IF you can do it right, any fucking poser kid can inhale, Alex here does it professionally, his highs are exhale actually, and his lows or inhale, its actually very common to see that with deathcore music (this is coming from a vocalist)
@Pyromanen93 Lol this guy the best metal vocalist in history? Screaming like a dying cat doesn't make you a good vocalist and his lows are dreadful. Major LOL man, just wow.
This is the real Chelsea Grin :3
:3
Eduard Castano oh yo
This is the only Chelsea grin
Back when they actually had (most) of the original lineup
The old chelsea grin
Prime Chelsea Grin. Loved this EP. Lifeless and Anathema of the Sick were just crazy good.
Best live performance from Alex I've seen yet. So good here
That's why he fucked his vocals
First good live performance from Alex that I've seen lol
Aah, back when Alexs' screams didn't sound like decapitated chickens.
Now, this is the real Chelsea Grin !
oh my god, this live preformance gives me respect for the band. the screamer is awesome!
-kaitlin
some of his highs sounds like mitch
It’s really sad to see how they declined over time. I saw them like two years ago and again about a year and a half ago, definitely was nothing like this. They’re still OGs in deathcore though and they got me into the core scene so mad respect
They are amazing live. My favorite band.

The good old days, damn I miss old cg
this was amazing
His voice changed as he aged, our voices aren't ment to be brutal. He was 16 when he started Chelsea Grin... He's 21 now.
26-27 years now and he has left the band haha
@@Asking78000it’s because he did inhale lows 😂
@@DexterTheMethOrphann the New one is brutal (ex Lorna Shore)
@@Asking78000You can tell that Tom Barber has damage in his voice too, but he’s better at hiding it.
i was gonna see them on the thrash and burn tour but they dropped out of the last week :[
i was so excited!
I kind of want to cry after watching this compared to Alex's vocals today. I may never see CG live with good vocals T_T
he did wear down his vocals but he has them back

On some live performances today he does the old style for old songs man
Alex is sick.
Insane
es una pinche bestia!!!
The crabcore is sick
fuckiing awesome
2017 he's still.among live. A lot of shows like to edit his vocals that and he has to perform differently as of 4 years ago.because he broke his jaw
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥
January 2012...gonna be brutal xP
Badass
they don't "put on much of a show" like Suicide Silence does but Alex has a pretty damn good live voice.
@CanYouHit Agreed!
im sure if he could do these vocals hed do them.. hes the man but these vocals are so brutal like theres no way you can keep em with out them wearin away
I FEEL YOUR PAIN. makes me afraid il loose mine like he did cuz i littarally try to make my vocals like the first ep
Why is no one wearing shoes here

@@tetotoreto7302 beg to differ. Dickie Allen from Infant Annihilator says its more than okay to use it and it’s not shameful 😳👍
@@Ripyungbruhh when you know how to do it,it's okay, but when you do it wrong,it completely ruins the sound of your vocals
He is doing exhales here as this is after DOE was recorded which had 90% exhaled lows minus the squeals here and there.
Fvck this i love the energy 🤘
That china though. Love the sound it produced
When Alex wasnt using the drummer as a crutch.
god alex's vocals are fucken gnarlyyy!!!

@TheMagicalCarpenter they need that many so one keeps a breakdown rhythm one for lead and one for rhythm
this is the vid they used on the thrash and burn promo
How does he scream like that without tearing a vocal cord or breaking his jaw...again...?
@rsownage957 It's the amp producing that sound, not to mention how bad his highs are edited on the record. Listen to all that feedback from his mic haha. I doubt he sounds anything like this without a mic.
@anthonyabducent pretty sure he inhaling some of the parts live. i know the album is exhaled but hes inhaling in this video i THINK
@CaaMeeNxX yeah, all the lows are inhaled here
Alex can still do his old vocals...
In my opinion his vocals get better in every album.
Some heavy shit is coming out on the new full length

he doesn't inhale here.
He inhales in there e.p, but in desolation of eden, it's all exhale.
there was nothing harder than no pity for a coward or crewcabanger. mitch and alex were unmatched. suicide silence whitechapel and chelsea grin. what a time to be alive
He is ridiculously hot.
Alex was 17-18 in this video lol
@hardcore2148 no hes not
is this when he started doing exhales? or is this still inhales
Well though his vocals changed he is still an amazing person. Don't judge him...geez.
how are his highs so high?
@CanYouHit exactly (: really, if you can see them live once, take the chance, i seen them and it was fucking brutal
ahhh little chelsea grin lol
The vocalist looks like Austin from of mice and men
fuck man im ina scremo band myself im singer but this guys gotta teach me 2 scremo!

what is his vocal technique at 0:29??
@omanuder igual que tu vida
ITS BONERTIME
It was good times. Chelsea Grin is sux today
0:25 sounds like his voice kind of cracked or something
He didn’t scream properly so he did that with his voice and his voice cracked
Dude watching this is both amazing and depressing he must have done a lot of improper screaming and growling in the beginning and ruined his voice
Why isnt one of yhe guitar players wearing shoes..? Lol
Fuckin sick live though
When Chelsea Grin was good live :/ R.I.P
@littleAnT25 Gay. That's what it is.
@Pyromanen93 also, mitch lucker is billions of times better than alex. so is trevor strnad.
All they EP is to much for me
it suxs I had to to watch something that is 8 years old just to not hear his voice blown
The old alex is better than now.
