Whereas Rapido has placed more emphasis on its campervan brands Dreamer and to a certain extent Westfalia, it still produces its own main brand. I am however, at a loss to see what the difference is between the Rapido and Dreamer vans - who can tell me?

We have the equivalent Dreamer D55 and, yes, the loo/shower arrangement is great. The loo door also comes across to completely separate the living and sleeping area, which gives a cosy feel to the living area in the evenings. The design and spec of the Dreamer Select and Rapido seem to be identical, but without looking at the extras I don’t know how much they differ in price. Ours is a Fun, which definitely has a few lower spec items (e.g. no auto switch over gas, different hob and sink, no dual floor garage), but we’ve spent the difference on the extras we really want, so no complaints

I like on the V55 how you can open the split toilet door and close off the front of the van, the toilet cupboard over the bed and bottom door and it then gives you a large shower toilet changing area! I used to have one of those vans, great, mine had a 3 burnet hob and the sink and hob position has swapped places since I had mine,
I also think more manufacturers should copy the bedroom cupboards idea, put dual height cupboards at the foot of the bed, I was amazed how much you could then get in the cupboards, also that shower cupboard opens up from the back when it's above the bed for access when you've had a shower, the base is removable so you can hang wet coats inside and they'll drip into the shower tray!

How strange,I was watching a video before this one ,the van was a Dreamer something or other with a rear lounge but the bed was at the front in the ceiling but the thing I liked the most about it was that it had the same bathroom and toilet as this one where the cupboard came right out to reveal the shower which I thought was excellent 😀

I like the bigger storage cabinets above the bed but I’m not convinced about the wardrobe over the shower. The stress on the hinges and the chipboard (or whatever it is) with the potential weight of the contents of the wardrobe doesn’t feel right to me. Longevity is important in a can costing this much. Also no oven! I think the Auto-Sleeper Kingham looks a better package for the money and has importantly, stood the rest of time.

The extra 37cms is alot of money when using ferries along with the parking thing. I've heard its double the price for over 6m in Norway. Having a campervan/motorhome is all about what you are willing to compromise. If you don't want to compromise much you buy a big thing and then the whole time you are driving somewhere new you can wonder if you are going to find somewhere to park it. Or you can have a VW T6 based thing, park it anywhere, but have no shower or anything else for that matter. Sub 6m, high roof, drop down bed but not electric (it would seem) sounds good to me 😉

"The handle's broken where people keep playing with it". . . . "I'll not play with it in case it's not working". Quite correct but what a sad indictment on the motorhome industry. You just cannot imagine anything like those risks if you were looking at new cars, could you? I don't know anyone who has bought a new motorhome (and I have had six in the last ten years) which didn't have faults when new, or very soon after. And the dealers are often incompetent to fix them.

I am working for a canadian campervan manufacturer, I am doing RV Shows for them and I always say to visitors that a four day show is the equivalent of ten years of normal RV usage...

@@VanlifewithAlan Some years ago I wanted one with an electric bed. The first three I looked at didn't work: one at a show and two at dealers. Then I bought one and within two weeks it didn't work.

@@gasgas2689 That is one of the reasons I would be frightened of an electric bed. They can be moved up manually but it takes around half an hour with a crank and the chances are it will go into a wrong position. Having written all that, based on my conversations, the beds are quite reliable, if treated correctly, so you were unlucky. I need to do a discussion with a manufacturer but that won't be happening for at least one year.

@@VanlifewithAlan I looked at a new Burstner recently. I said to the salesman I will pay you cash, the full price on one condition. If the electric bed fails I want all my money back. He refused. He said people overload them. I said "do children play with them, riding up and down?". "No" he said, "they leave pillows and duvets on them. That is overloading. You must remove all the bedding and store it somewhere else before raising the bed". I say no more. I had to get the installation and worksop manual for mine, I am on first name terms emailing the designer of the bed at Project 2000 in Italy and the Production Manager at Rapido, that is the extent I had to go to to get mine working. Then the rotating shaft fell out of a bearing at one end and it collapsed. Obviously then it was straight back to the dealers and I got rid of it. Never again.
