correction: Grande has the most wins in critic groups by one win surpassing Qualley with 15 wins and has more noms than Zoe
I really think the reason everyone thinks Zoe Saldana gets the award is the fact that we've been without televised awards shows for too long this year, but we have to take into consideration that Ariana Grande has always been the favorite for the CCA, and even though some people probably changed their votes for the Golden Globes, I feel like she's still the favorite.
you're exactly correct, and i've been saying this to many friends. i think that due to the delay of sag and cca people have just taken saldana's gg win into consideration when predicting anything atp.
@@vevofact6582I think Ariana grande can win but your dumb to think golden globes don’t impact critics choice voting
Zoe will win BAFTA
It's simply Zoe Saldana's moment in terms of narration, she is seen as a veteran who puts herself on the line in a difficult role
Wicked having 11 noms, but only taking two tech categories doesn’t seem right to me? I think Ariana will win (or even tie), and maybe even ensemble? I just feel like CC will go all out for Wicked.
I feel like what if Bailey takes sag
I mean by that same logic Conclave also got 11 noms and if they give ensemble to Wicked that only leaves it with one award for Adapted Screenplay. Some people are predicting score and editing but those don’t seem super likely. IMO Wicked and Conclave are both movies with high nomination ceilings but that might not equal most awards won.
I agree. They're not gonna pass up the opportunity to get somebody from the wicked cast up on that stage. Especially when most likely, the 2 techs he gave them are gonna be announced after the commercial break in a long list.
its kinda hilarious the Critics Choice nominate everyone in Best director except for James Mangold and the he is the one who gets the Oscar nom
They are a joke anyway
They missed AGAIN, the most pathetic award body in history.
Through your logic, Ariana Grande would be the frontrunner for BSA, let's be real, CC love Wicked and Grande's performance, she has more precursors wins than Saldaña.
Let's see what happens, but I really hope Ari takes the award
me too
It is worth noting that since 1950, only 2 films have ever won Best Picture without winning at least one of either Director OR Screenplay (GLADIATOR and CHICAGO). Make of that what you will.
But both at least got director and screenplay noms. People predicting Wicked to win BP are delulu
The Brutalist is in pole position for Best Picture then.
But it might win best director too
@@pb.j.1753 ANORA and CONCLAVE are also in a great position.
Absolute nightmare fuel
PGA- Perez
DGA- Brutalist
CCA/WGA- Anora
SAG- Wicked
BAFTA- Conclave
Wicked!
And then a complete unknown takes the oscar😆
Winning PGA for Perez is not happening
Bafta is going to Emilia Perez bro
@@gennaroneefjes6248yeah right
I hope Ariana Grande takes the best supporting actress award for Wicked
Yes!!!
It will happen.
@@quintonposs3286 Omg i hope so, i'm by your side. Her comedy skills are so good 🩷✨Let's see this friday and i'll be back by replying
she will!
The more I think about it the more I want that to happen. It would be great to see it and, most importantly, would feel Right in this year's race
Hey guys love your content! After the Oscars, you should definitely do more Oscar Retrospectives. I really enjoy those videos and they allow us to reflect on the films of that time
I think this year has to be the most insane awards season I’ve ever been through after following it since 2022 when Everything Everywhere All at Once won. Especially since I have no idea who’s going to win now. But despite all the insanity, it’s been a fun ride. I’m just hoping Emilia Perez doesn’t win anything at the Oscars now.
Wow craziest race since 2 years prior? Groundbreaking
I predict that won't age well.
Yeah, it will probably win a few, but after all of those controversies, I think the movie’s chances of winning are on thinner ice.
The ONLY nomination Emilia Prrez deserves is for Saldana for Supporting. This movie is mediocre. The music and melodies are lifeless, but the lyrics are the absolute worst. The movie might have been a bit better if it weren’t a musical.
Yeah bro it’s winning at least 2. Deal with it
Critics choice don't matter.
Look at Angela Bassett and Natalie Portman winning here but still losing the oscar
The sag and bafta are what really matters
CC definitely matters if you are trying to sweep. All award shows miss a few over the years. SAG missed Actress last year for example.
Tell that to lily Gladstone
Imagine that the controversy would have happened AFTER the Oscar voting, winning BP. Holy shit pure chaos.
I have Wicked winning PGA because they like domestic and Marc Platt is strong and popular there lol
I know. He won PGA for La La Land And they wouldn't mind giving it to him for Wicked. It's only number three to win PGA and that could change very soon.
I’m thinking The Brutalist will win Best Director while Anora wins Best Picture
Can someone explain to me how Challengers did so well in Critics and might as well win a few while it got nothing at Oscars?
i almost forgot about predictions the way the whole awards conversation has been going 😆😆
I truly think Grande is winning CCA, but I get your logic
Le están dando mucho peso al Golden Globes que ganó Zoe
Please give Mikey Madison some big award, she deserved it
I just have a question, why are the decisions still being made based on critics groups? After many years we know that CCA doesn't follow what actual critics do, they lean more towards predicting the Oscars or voting for what they like, not to actually represent what actual critics like, so I just don't see that vision of choosing what is leading with critics groups.
I find the “speech” argument to be bs with all due respect. If you’re a critic and your favorite performance was Mikey Madison why a speech would change that? Just because you remember? It doesn’t make you like it more. And also I think there’s no momentum for any movie because only the Globes happened.
I don't think the argument is that speeches influence the voters with favourites, I think the argument is that they sway the undecided.
There are no real critics here, Critics Choice voting body is mostly Film Twitter clowns.
Critics Choice is not exactly what critics like more, they just want to predict the Oscars and vote for whoever has the momentum
I hope Conclave wins PGA
What does PGA mean?
Producers Guild of America
I think Brutalist could be like Nomadland winning PGA (the movie you don’t think is gonna win PGA, only has one sag nom, etc) and still win PGA
exactly
How did Emilia Perez get so many 'above the line' Critics Choice nominations but is so poorly reviewed?
I still think Mikey Madison is winning CC, and could continue to get Best Actress wins all the way to the Oscars.
She deserves to win. Honestly she should be SWEEPING but that’s just me.
Honestly she should be winning every award. 🙃🙃
She was so good and gave a complete performance. I still have hope for Mikey ❤
Critics choice & Oscars shouldn't go to Actors bc of speeches UGH! Mikey Cynthia and Marianne give FAR superior perfs imo, Why is Kieran in supporting? He's in every scene I wish he had been in Leading Actor Kind of unfair . Brutalist for the win..
This is kinda just how award season works. Doesn’t make it right but it’s always been like this
There's no "objetively" better performance tho. I think Demi gave the best performance even ignoring speech/narrative 🤷♀️
@@tiagoduraes1120 Yes, Madison
What's your opinion on how the Gascon tweets will affect Emilia Perez's chances at the Oscars, especially in Supporting Actress and if Saldana will get dragged down with it??
Emilia Perez better not win the PGA. Smh.
the argument that it has to do well at SAG is absurd cuz 1917, nomafland, easily eon there
Think it's either Brutalist, Anora or Conclave
I'll be happy just seeing Conclave and Sing Sing winning something and A Complete Unknown/Emilia Pérez going home empty handed.
Ariana is taking it
Yeah that cinematography one….. bro I just can’t. I do not think that will happen. I think dune part 2 will be very rewarded here
Honey, why are you mentioning real critics while you discuss Critics Choice, they are not even close to being critics, they are sheep with zero personality, they will never reward Nosferatu for cinematography.
It’s very unfortunate for a slew of over reasons, but I’m glad the controversy happened for this reason specifically lol
One thing I know for sure is that without the recent controversies Emilia Perez would have won best picture. That is the industry's favorite movie of the year. They would have given it BP 100%.
everyone was saying Madison was a lock for all the awards back in 2024- I'd never heard of her and thought it was unlikely- especially the Oscar- they tend to go for more established actors- many of them probably never heard of her either... the nomination does put her on the map and I'm looking forward to seeing what she's got in store for us.
I feel like people are pretending like Emilia Pérez didn’t have controversy before the tweets. It had an Ai controversy, the director had made comments that weren’t good, and Gascón had already accused Fernanda Torres’ team of basically running a smear campaign. Prior to January 30’th, Emilia Pérez already had a ton of bad publicity.
He brought that up and pointed out that the pre-tweet negativity didn't stop the movie from getting 13 Oscar nominations
I mean the brutalist also used ai
The previous controversy was the reaction from latino communities, which Oscar voters literally don't give a fuck about tbh and they proved it by giving it 13 nominations. What's happening NOW is what really could make a change in Oscar voter's minds, everything surrounding Karla, Jacques now throwing her under the bus and cleaning his hands, but we still have to see if the international body will care about it or not, the american voters won't go for EP, the European ones have a lot of strength.
Controversy from filmtwitter, in the real world the film is liked for its artistic merits
Remember, Critics Choice awards put in there vote before ALL the controversy came to light… I wouldn’t be surprised if Emilia Pérez wins a lot 😂😂😂
I still think Anora will win picture at the Oscars with or without PGA. If it wins critics choice and SAG ensemble then it’s confirmed to win picture.
No chance. Anora he's definitely not going to win Ensemble at SAG. Wicked is the clear favorite, it's been the favor for months and it is guaranteed to win that. Andora will blank out as the season goes on, it just isn't the clear Academy favorite since it's screwball comedy drama. Wicked has more nuance and drama than anora, that's surprising.
If "Emilia Perez" wins PGA, it wins Oscar. Controversies are important for X and Letterboxd users but probably not for the Academy. Because, you know, they know that they are voting for a movie, not for Gascon.
Both of your female last place picks for the Critics Choice feel like they should be much higher up and are potential spoilers in my book. Jean-Baptiste had the critics trifecta and Rossellini feels like the place to pivot if they step away from the musical ingenues. I'd probably place them at 4 and 3.
No one cares, they have zero chance.
I’d love to know your thoughts on why the Emilia Pérez controversy might turn off Academy voters, when bad press around Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book in 2018 didn’t seem to deter them at all (indeed, they seemed to dig in their heels supporting those films).
I think Grande is gonna win CC for sure, they liked Wicked more than Emilia Pérez
Wicked might surprise at the BAFTAS, do extremely well at critic's choice, win SAG ensemble, create a path of domination as its resurgence and its exuberance reigns and then shock everyone when it wins a bunch of oscars.
@AntsTheaterCorner2698 BAFTAs are less likely, but there is definitely a path with CC and SAG
@@rafaelcruz9973 BAFTAS could go with Wicked, it has International roots and did better with nominations than anyone would anticipate.
I can’t stand that these awards are “critic’s choice” when they’re really not. All they try to do is predict the Oscars. Otherwise there’s no reason a movie like Emilia Perez (in the low 70s in Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic) would be nominated so much.
Emilia Perez's scores are conditioned by preconceptions and review bombing, initially the rating was much higher, thanks only to festival reviews
Here me out
Monica Barbaro stealing the whole thing out of nowhere
I said this. That movie is gaining momentum.
Adam's Apple Reduction yes yes yes yes is gonna win Best Supporting Actress? Yikes.
Man if Emilia Perez wins anything, CCA gonna get cancelled, because it proves that members do not watch movies and are just following trends.
Did they reopen voting because of the fires? If not then these winners were decided weeks ago.
Give too much weight to the globes at your own peril.
Don’t think Emilia Perez had a chance for best picture even without the controversy
a lot of viewers bash its representation and all in all think its not that good of a film
Online viewers are not the industry, which focus superficially on representation
I feel like Denis Villanueve will win best director just because most critics want it to win
I'm predicting Brutalist for Picture at CC. They do fewer Pic/Dir splits than the Oscars, and the solid drama frontrunner is probably a safer bet than the up-in-the-air comedy/musical side of things. But on the C/M side, I have this haunting suspicion that Wicked is ahead of Emilia Perez AND Anora with this group. Moore vs Erivo for Actress, Grande wins Supporting, film takes Ensemble and is no lower than third in Picture.
When PGA deviates from the prestige drama frontrunner (Brutalist in this case), they go for crowdpleasers. It seems like Wicked has stronger US support and Emilia Perez has stronger European support, so I'd guess Wicked is ahead of Emilia at PGA. Anora is also an option not without precedent here; it has shades of Little Miss Sunshine or CODA as a feel good ensemble film that could win WGA.
SAG back is where Wicked will dominate, it could surprise that the baft as and shock everyone with massive upsets and wins at the critics Choice Awards. It got the most nominations and they clearly want this film for acting on some with the critics choice Awards. This is something black panther needing figures didn't do, this would be a huge and will build its path to best picture domination. It's only number three to win PGA and that could change in the following weeks.
Ok well I don’t think the wins matter when critics vote. It’s whatever they think is the best film
It's only young people and film twitter that believes so much in anora for best picture
Why does everyone think Anora is getting best picture? I just don’t see it.
When you will realize that Anora has not depth or message, such films do not win Picture (yes, it makes sex workers more human, but that it is not enough) .
No nomination for felicity Jones but she still ended up with the oscar nomination
I love how he couldn't say Emilia Perez can win PGA with a straight face 🤭
I really love Demi Moore but I also really want Mikey Madison to win something Big this awards season.
Get well soon, mate

I don’t get the el mal song. For me it will be the worst ever Oscar winning song.
There is absolutely no way you can possibly think this. There's no way you've listened to every song winner in this category. It wouldn't even be the worst song win in the last 10 years.
dont make it too obvious that you hate The Brutalist
I feel like we should just stop predicting this year and just focus on next year. This awards season is awful. The only thing that can get me back onboard is if The Substance wins things and pulls an upset.
Here’s what I’m thinking: The Brutalist is The Revenant plus score, Anora is Spotlight plus Actress (& editing?) & Conclave is The Big short. While not all similar, Anora can win CC, WGA, PGA (& SAG?) The Brutalist can win BAFTA & Conclave can BAFTA, PGA & SAG. I’ve still had Anora winning for months and the golden globes don’t matter, but that’s my opinion
Is Emilia Perez dead now?
Maybe idk
we can only hope
Karla shouldn’t have even been nominated for Best Actress considering that…well…she’s not even a she.
@@supermariofan03You can hate on Gascon without being transphobic
@ Well it’s true. Karla is not a woman. If you want to cut your own dick off, that’s your business. Doesn’t change shit about your gender. If I lose a hand, does that automatically make me a pirate?
Nice hair :p
Here are my Critics Choice Predictions:
Best Picture: Anora
Best Director: Sean Baker
Best Actor: Colman Domingo
Best Actress: Mikey Madison
Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin
Best Supporting Actress: Ariana Grande
Best Original Screenplay: Anora
Best Adapted Screenplay: Between Sing Sing and Conclave, maybe leaning toward the latter, Nickel Boys would be an upset or EP.
Best Ensemble: Maybe Conclave, Wicked is second, Sing Sing is third.
Best Young Actor or Actress: Izaac Wang
Best Comedy Film: Deadpool and Wolverine
Best Animated Feature: The Wild Robot
Best Foreign Language Film: I picked All We Imagine as Light, but would not be surprised if EP won.
Best Cinematography: The Brutalist, might change to either Nosferatu or Dune.
Best Costume Design: Either Wicked or Nosferatu
Best Editing: Challengers
Best Hair and Make-up: The Substance
Best Score: Challengers, but if it doesn't win, maybe Dune or even EP.
Best Song: Mi Camino, but if it doesn't win, maybe Compress/Repress.
Best Production Design: Wicked, or Nosferatu.
Best Visual Effects: Dune, though The Substance may upset for some reason.
I kinda want Perez to win PGA, just for the chaos
Just saw the brutalist i think anora just slightly beats it out
I hope either Felicity Jones or Isabella Rosallini wins Best Supporting Actress.
People wake up! Ariana Grande isn't good in Wicked!!
I really think you are the only person that thinks that lol.. I don’t even like her but she was extraordinary in that role, she is good :/
She was fine. Not an oscar worthy performance but tbf it was the writing that held her back. She does decent with the material
@@renanschleiden agree to disagree! I watched it with my little brother and he said she's annoying as hell 😂
That proves she did a great job! Hahah Glinda is supposed to be unbearably annoying hahahah
@renanschleiden annoying...not in a good way 😂
i think a complete unknown is going to win it all..
ur delusional
🤭
fernanda is gonna win the oscar period
Justice for Challengers here ⭐️
Why is he talking like a spoiled brat?
First
Critics need to stop ⏹ trying to make danille deadwyler happen every award season. Her film has no buzz
She took felicity Jones stop here
Isn't the award for the performance?
