Leroy Don Smart is one of Jamaica's living legends still preforming. Not just performing but doing so with the same energy and excitement now, that he possessed even thirty years ago. He is one of the artist who is instantly recognisable by hearing just one of his distinctive husky notes.
Leroy is one of the many reggae legends who went to the Alpha Catholic school, on South Camp road in Jamaica. Musicians credited for being very instrumental (ironically) in the creation of both ska and reggae, also went to Alpha boy's, such as the Skatalights founding members Tommy McCook, Johnny 'Dizzy' Moore, Lester Stirling and, Don Drummond. In addition to, Jackie Mitto, Eddie 'Tan Tan' Thornton, Vin Gordon, and more. Vocalist who also attended Alpha include Johnny Osbourne, Owen Grey and Dancehall DJ's Trinity and Yellowman.
