Hi, Im interested in purchase this unit and I’m hesitant because it’s been some time since it was released and I’m worried about how much updates and support will it have for how many years to come. This tells me that they’re still supporting the unit, however, do you think it is still a good purchase in 2024? I’ve seen a newer Allen and Heath option released just 1 year ago, but it doesn’t have real subgroups. So I’m thinking which might be the best option in 2024 and how much life the ui24r has ahead? Thanks in advance!

I like the Ui24R and consider it to still be a very comprehensive and capable mixing solution. I had some of the same questions when I purchased the Ui24R nearly two years ago and was comfortable enough then to purchase the unit. Since then, there are have been a number of discussions on various forums about the status of Harman and the various Soundcraft mixers. For instance, the last firmware update for the Ui24R was in 2020 and it does not appear that there will be any further firmware updates for the unit, nor will there likely be any upgrades/replacements for the unit. It does appear as though folks are still able to get service for the Ui24R, and that is probably the most important consideration. Unfortunately, other than the new A&H product (which I agree has significant limitations that would be a problem for me), there haven't been any new software-driven mixers (without a physical mixing console) released since about 2017. Which I find rather odd given that a remote-controllable mixer like the Ui24R solves so many problems for a typical self-mixing band.

Thank so much for this video… Could you please make a video on Master EQ settings please. We are using this in church but getting hissing noise while using mics.

Sure, I can do that. The master EQ and feedback suppression capability of the mixer is quite robust and useful.

I've never used the xr18 so don't know. But the preamps on this mixer are very clean.
