@@TheMarch-jn3rzIirc that was because they didn't want to catch up to manga so they decided to slow down this arc, firstly by adapting only two chapters per episode and secondly by adding as much filler episodes as they could

Nice that someone else identified Luppi the Loser as I did--an arrancar nowhere near #6, just placed there to replace Grimmjow as part of Aizen's games with his own subordinates. Everything goes according to Aizen's plans....

Good thing for them because if Shinji is only barely stronger than Grimmjow with the mask then he likely would have gotten his ass whooped against a released Grimmjow.
