Another Corsair product that was designed, not engineered.
DerB8uer absolutely destroyed this thing in his review. (Rightly so, it's the fanboy way of burning $5k.)
Everyone who's watched that video knows why Jay put that tower so far to the side with the fans pointing away from the microphone ^^

I don't get it, if you are a real fanboy, you should be furious to see this piece of crap at this price point. I guess fandoms are different these days, just shove anything down their throats instead of wanting your fav company to do something meaningful/unprecedented.

The classic fanboy is one who fails to critically analyse a product and only supports it even if it is obviously a bad product. This is why this stupid product exists still, there are people buying it who think it’s a good product. The same argument for Xbox vs PlayStation fanboys for example. I have many Corsair parts, this is truly a stupid machine. It should not be thought as a good buy. Far from it.

I think the front panel of the case is just screaming for custom panels. I don't know if it is original, but considering the stupid amount of money I've spent on Kickstarter cases, that I spent even more money trying to find parts that worked together for... I'm in a head space where I'm okay with easy to build PC's that use standard components.

      @@Frentraken There's lazy and then there's demented.
Put a few chopsticks in front of a normal Fractal Meshify 2 case and suddenly it's 'artsy'. Ok at least that was a good case and whatever your build is it's still up to you.
But this? You are just willingly letting Corsair scam you, and you want to justify it by saying you are lazy, that it is artsy, when it's not even a new idea(the Fractal North you pointed out isn't original either). There's no originality, no functionality, and obviously not cost efficient. I'd rather get an overpriced Alienware laptop because even Dell monitors are actually decent.
Since you are that lazy you probably won't even clean the interior every few months, with that exposed gpu it's going to look nasty and since the cooling itself is already a sus, I can see this product dying in 2-3 years, if it survives it won't even be at 50% of its expected performance.
You could be richer than Renault but there are better places to waste that money on. Like getting a special limited lettered edition signed book. That's artsy and you can watch its price go up and up.

It's funny how different the perceptions can be. Der8auer already had a look at the Corsair One i500 earlier and he didn't like it. He showed that the cooling could've easily been better with just a few tweaks and changes, but the thing that bothered him the most was the noise and the lack of control over the noise in the software.
For Jay noise is a none issue, while he also mentioned one of the core differences between America and Germany: Air conditioning. Which is pretty much uncommon in Germany and very much common in the US. ^^
Which means that noise will be more of an issue in countries where AC is not common as well as temperatures will be higher, which will show the limits of the Corsair One i500 much earlier than in an air-conditioned environment.

    Dear Mr and Mrs Corsair,
In the unlikely event that you are reading this comment, then please let me congratulate you for building the first product that I would consider buying from your company. Unfortunately I cannot buy the Corsair One i500 because the design is still incomplete and I'm offended by the very idea of a designer gift box with disco lights on my desk. My world is too cluttered to allow the wood veneered offspring of R2D2 and a common VCR into my work space until it has a cover for the tangle of cords in back. The light for de-tangling the cords is brilliant. What would be more brilliant is to put the cords in front so I can easily access them when I need to, and a closet with a door to hide them behind the rest of the time. Here is everything else you got right, the size of the footprint and the overall shape.
It is so nice to see that you have resisted the urge to make the box 50% longer and 50% thicker than an ATX motherboard and video card. Hurrah, full size technology can now fit on my desk, it must be the 21st century. I know it's a radical idea but I require the items in my office have an appearance that is better than inoffensive, I want to look at beautiful things. You've made a breakthrough, now follow through; it's time to sharpen the pencils and reduce the exterior complexity, color, and material counts by 50%. Make it attractive, you can do it. You can make products that people want to look at and pay a premium for. In fact, for companies like Apple, it's the primary reason people buy those products. Build a sculpture worthy of my desk and I will buy it.

So my opinion is that it's definitely nice that someone makes MATX/ITX prebuilts that also look and perform decently. My problem is that this is WAY out of whack in terms of price-performance-parts ratio. Like, you could stick with purely Corsair parts and make a better ITX system with just as much power with similar temps at like $1000 less - or more if you went with non-RGB parts and were able to get an FE 4090 deal. And Corsair could sell that system at like a $400 markup and it would still be cheaper than this while making them profit.
    What do I mean?
Corsair 2000D Airflow ITX Case (with fans) - $160
    Corsair SFX-L 1000W PSU - $180
    Corsair 360mm AIO - $190
    MSI B650i AM5 ITX Motherboard - $260 (Amazon)
    7800x3D - $350 (Amazon)
    64GB Corsair RAM 6000MT - $310 OR 32GB for $185
    Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NvME - $170 (Amazon)
MSI 4090 Gaming Trio Slim - $1800 (Best Buy) OR PNY Verto 4090 - $1750 (Amazon) or get lucky and find an FE Card for $1600
That is $3,420 for a BETTER version of what they built....still using all Corsair parts except the NvME. And comes in a smaller footprint case.
    Swing and a miss Corsair.

Unobtainium pricing for the average consumer for sure. Strictly aimed at the "I have boat loads of money and I just want the shiny object to show off to my friends!" market. Enthusiasts might enjoy modifying this build though.
I will admit, that 120mm AIO did manage to perform better than I anticipated with a 14900k, a freaking "I rival the sun for heat" chip.
Try with a 14700k with that AIO or upgrade to the 240mm. Would like to see the results for both though.

I don't get why they didn't use a 240 mm side mounted AIO . I would be interested if Jay tried switching the 120 out for this, maybe even with one of the new type of "pump in radiator" types. $4.5K is a lot of money for something that doesn't have custom loop and custom blocks, but it is a really aesthetically pleasing looking PC. It looks like they have a design engineer with a server background with the look of the internals. I still prefer to build my own though, despite having arthritis in my hands that slows me down a lot.

I have to say I love the concept, and I'm glad someone is doing it. Having said that, I feel like somebody who actually knows PCs would buy something else knowing the compromises made here. A 240 AIO would fit easily on that bracket and would be a better fit with their CPU choice. They also could have gone with an ITX motherboard and left a bit more room for ventilation below the GPU.

It would be interesting to see it modded with 1.) push/pull slim fans on the side AiO, 2.) thicker fans and 3.) a 240 AiO on the side for the CPU. Then do a comparison to each different configuration of each to show how much/little gains you get for each "tier" of upgrading this system. At $4700, I would not buy this PC, though. I built my SFF in an NR200 for less albeit with an i7 and 4080 Super. The biggest issue I have, besides the cost, is the fact that Corsair doesn't include their full iCue software that would allow the fan curves and better RGB options while also costing as much as it does.

I like the chassis design. I would buy a gutted one in a few years and rebuild it OR maybe see if the case will be sold separately. I ALSO like that this case/system COULD be air-cooled OR water cooled. It has enough space for a larger top down air cooler (like an L12s) and a normal air cooled GPU.

  • @TigonIII
    @TigonIII 5 месяцев назад

I have been waiting for someone to do some modifications and test with this case, as it is ripe for opportunities.
    1. As you mentioned, larger fans (normal instead of the slim ones), and how much does this affect the performance. (maybe even try Noctua fans to see how noise to performance is)
    2. If possible, could you get a larger radiator (240mm instead of the 120mm) on the CPU, maybe even try air cooling it. And of course test how this performs.
    3. Apply your own heatsinks on the GPUs VRMs, and how this affects performance.
    4. Huge ask, maybe try replacing the motherboard, but this may complicate things, such as Windows being tied to the board and also the Corsair software suite.
4.1 If trying other motherboards, why not try to see if an AMD board with a 7800X3D and/or 7950X3D, and how the 120mm AIO would perform with that and with the other upgrades above.
I even had a thought, that if it isn't possible to install a 240mm radiator on the side fans because of clearances, then it should be possible to daisy-chain two 120mm, or am I just out of the loop. ;P

Given the room I saw in there, I feel like they might be able to go with a single loop with dual 240mm radiators and maybe even a single 120mm radiator on the bottom with that fan, plus a slim fan either at 80mm or 120mm where that blank plate is for cooling the rest of the GPU.
I don't really feel that would increase the heat on the rest of the air-cooled components enough to matter tbh. Maybe it will and I'm just stupid though.
