Hey Rohan! No need, a user can have multiple Stripe accounts. If you are creating an account for a client on your Connect account it will need to be new so don't worry if they have any pre-existing ones.
I'm using Visual Studio for this and I'm lost at what type of session I should open to log this code. I have a partial understanding of the code that you input here but I don't understand what you've opened to get there.
Can you create a payout to an individual without ssn or scanned and uploaded verification documentation?
Hey! We need to collect detailed information about what is being sold, even as an individual. Usually we expect a website, so if you were creating an account for a donation for example you'd put the donation website URL there. Additionally, on entry there should be a tip that mentions using a descriptions as an option. Let us know if we can help further.
What if your doing a platform that has other nonprofits (civic associations) that offer sponsorships for sale (for related events they host)
I’m over half way in the video and will finish today and should be fine looking through the documentation (we’re already using other apis) but I was planning on doing option 3 that was suggested in the early periods of of the video.
But every organization on our system has a customer id value, I was hoping that could just have a payment method binded to it and then just do payouts on that debit card.
That’s how I envisioned it before watching the video , but we’re wanting to make it as painless as possible for our members.

Hey CJ & Hamish - great introduction to Connect (albeit a little old). I don't seem to be able to find an API to "Unlink" an account? I was thinking about an onboarding flow where an attempt to "retry" an incomplete process would result in my platform removing the old link and creating a new one...
HI Andy-do you mean you want to "unlink" a Connect account from a Platform account? Either the owner of the connected account logs into their account and goes to dashboard.stripe.com/settings/apps and revokes the connection there, or the Platform calls the stripe.com/docs/connect/oauth-reference#post-deauthorize API from their end.

I noticed that a verification document is not listed in the requirements for individuals accepting payments in the US. Am I correct in my understanding that this means that it is not absolutely necessary for them to upload a document? My company has an older demographic that are not very technically savvy (to say the least lol) and I fear that the document upload will be too complicated for them. I did this, but my only issue, is what to check in the webhook once the user has completed the forms.
Hi there-can you tell us a little bit more about what you're trying to do? We're happy to help.
@@StripeDev once the user has completed the onboarding form. I have to listen to an event fired to my webhook. What part of the payload tells me the user is good to go and has completed the process.
You can check by listening to 'account.updated' webhooks, or calling the Accounts API and inspecting the state of the 'requirements' hash.

Question. Express connect onboarding form asks if youre an individual or business. When you select individual it then proceeds to then ask for your business details and website. But as an individual you won't have a website or business details etc. What can be done here? I don't want my individual customers having to put in random business details or random website details to get paid.

Hey there-if you're using Stripe Connect, a user would have to sign up on your platform and create a user account (referred to as a connected account) so you can accept payments and move funds to their bank account: stripe.com/docs/connect/collect-then-transfer-guide?platform=web

Hey there! Individuals can enter something like a social media profile or even just a product description. When focused on that field during onboarding, there is a tooltip that mentions this. There is also an option of prefilling this info via the API ahead of onboarding so that the account holder never sees the fields, this doc here goes more into it: stripe.com/docs/connect/required-verification-information#US-full-individual--card_payments%7Ctransfers
killing buisness to implement this, very few customers will identify them selv with all thse step :( sad
We're constantly aiming to improve our features. The new Stripe hosted Connect Onboarding flow is a really great option for setting up custom accounts. Fully implementing the custom connect onboarding should be reserved for very rare use-cases where you must have full control over the onboarding flow.
