  • Do you feel stuck in a beginner's level? Then you need a study plan. Because it's very easy to get distracted and demotivated when you learn Korean on your own. A study plan is a map that guides you what to learn and how to learn Korean. In this lesson, I'm going to talk you through some tips to learn Korean alone at home. 😀
    For the study plan 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 👉 • [𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻] ...

    I've been stuck in this upper beginner/low intermediate for years ㅠㅠ do you have study method tips? I'm going crazy

    • @justlearnkorean
      @justlearnkorean  Год назад +71

      I totally understand. 😑 The most important thing is you should enjoy learning. Once you feel negative, learning itself becomes stress. It might sound a bit cliché but that's soooooo true!!
      Learning methods for intermediate would be different depending on why you are learning Korean. The reason might be to understand films, tv dramas, k-pops better or to improve general conversation skills or to take Korean language exam or and so on.
      If your reason is to take Korean language exam or interviews for your work/study, then you need more intensive learning.
      However, if you are learning Korean because of personal development, I suggest that you should understand this level is the hardest part of learning journey. From my experience, learning a language will be much easier, once you overcome intermediate level.
      I recently released a video about intermediate, please check out this video. ruclips.net/video/Sd7AEOrUk_k/видео.html
      If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm happy to help you. Hope it helps. ☺️

      @@justlearnkorean thank you for your thorough answer! I just discovered your channel and I love all the thought and care you put into your videos!
      I think my goals are shifting with Korean. I wanted to be comfortable in conversation settings (which I’m slowly attaining) but now I’d like to be good at reading/writing!
      For reading I can’t find suitable source material (it’s either too easy or too hard or just not interesting as a topic/relevant vocabulary)
      as for writing I’m kinda lost as to how to do it alone
      Thank you for your work regardless!

      @@bluecandies Thank you for sharing your thought. 😉 You're right, writing is quite hard to do alone.
      As I mentioned in another video about intermediate, try this. I choose one topic that I want to write and read a lot about that topic first (blogs, random websites, columns in a newspaper or magazines) and then utilise useful vocabulary and expressions etc.
      You might already know about 'NAVER'. www.naver.com
      It's the biggest portal site in Korea, there are a lot. Especially, you can find tons of blogs about all sort of topics. I read blogs about cooking, lifestyle and economics every day.

I find that in reality tv the language they use is most similar to that in real life conversations, also there tends to be less speaking and slower ahaha

      Uhh..I understand. I also struggle to learn vocabulary. 🥹 Learning numbers and counters in Korean must be difficult, especially counters. Although there are a lot of counters and two number systems, you will be able to make progress if you focus on the most common ones first (e.g how to say time, date, age, address, phone numbers, floor etc. and 개, 명, 분, 마리, 권, 잔 etc.) Well..honestly Korean people use only certain things.
      Take a look at these videos about numbers and counters. I explain the ones that are commonly used.

      Thank you thank you. ☺ Level 4? Wow, your Korean must be very good. Then...for your leveI..I suggest you learning new vocabulary through whatever interests you AND make your own vocabulary list (IN CHUNKS).
      If you watch movies/dramas/podcasts etc., pick up new words from there.
      If you learn Korean books such as Talk To Me In Korean textbooks, pick up new words from there.
      Because you already understand quite a lot of Korean, this way will help you learn how and when new vocabulary is used. Especially you will be able to expand knowledge around verbs and adjectives conjugation, and also you will be able to learn all sorts of common pairs of nouns + verbs, nouns + adjectives, adverbs + adjectives, verbs/adjectives + particles etc.
      Remember, don't just learn new words themselves. Make your own vocabulary and learn new words in chunks with words/particles that are commonly used together.
      Hope this helps. ☺

      Wow, you can read after 3 days of learning! 😀 That's absolutely brilliant!!!.
      I totally understand your situation. I also learned languages secretly behind my friends and family. Well.. everybody knows now. But I still study when I'm on my own at home. You have different reasons why you learn Korean secretly. But I understand how difficult it would be.
      The only thing that I can say to you is that you should do your best whatever is required to do for your job or school work. And then utilise your free time for learning Korean.
      👉Focus on listening to Korean a lot and reading out loud a lot.👈
      The reason why I also got so into reading out loud is that it was so effective when I was learning languages alone. When I'm home alone imagining there are audiences in front of me and acting like I'm telling them something in Korean. But choosing the right study materials is the key. First something that you like and enjoy. Second, something that not too difficult.
      I can see how determined you are. I think that's the most important thing. Don't rush to improve your Korean within a short period. It will take time. But as long as you enjoy learning Korean, you can learn a lot. Good luck to you. When you have questions, feel free to ask me. ☺

      @justlearnkorean  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you sooooo much. I'm glad. ☺️ If you can invest 2 hours every day, you will definitely improve your Korean. 😀👍Of course, the longer the better though. So I recommend you to utilise other times as well. For example, when you are in the shower, in the kitchen, on a bus, in bed and whenever you have spare time, listen to or watch or read out loud something that you enjoy. Those short times every day are also very very helpful. I believe the key is every day (plus enjoy learning). Hope that helps and good luck. 🤞

      I made a video about Korean sentence structure quite a while ago. Since my video-making skills were very basic at that time, you might find the video a bit boring. Nevertheless, it will give you a good overview of how sentences are constructed in Korean. Hope it helps!!

    Hi! My biggest problem so far is that even if I know how to read Hangul, I struggle with it because it doesn't come natural, but I have to think of the sound of the character I am looking at. How can I improve at reading faster?

    • @justlearnkorean
      @justlearnkorean  6 месяцев назад +1

      I totally understand. When I learn new languages, I also experience the same things. Let me share what I do.
      ☺️ But first, I'd like to say, the more you practice reading Hangul, the easier it will become. It sounds cliché, but it's soooo true. So make sure to set aside some time every day to read Korean.
      1) Find content that you like. It could be content about nouns, numbers, verbs etc. But it's best to start practicing with individual words and then move on simple phrases or short sentences. Finally, challenge yourself with longer and longer sentences.
      2) Listen to it.
      3) Analyse the sound of each character.
      👉 But bear in mind. When consonants & vowels meet certain consonants & vowels, their sounds change.
      4) And then read aloud slowly, and then gradually increase your speed as you become more comfortable.
      If you listen a lot and readout loud a lot every day, you will definitely make progress. 😉 Good luck, and let me know how it goes sometime.

    일상 대화는 꽤 편하긴 한데,, 외국인이 한국 사람처럼 표현하려면 조금 까다로워져요.. 가끔은 더 다양한 표현을 배우려면 어려운 순간도 있어요. 조금 민감한 표현은 알고 있지만... 더 심화된 내용을 학습하려고 하면 기억이 잘 안 나요. 어쨌든, 드라마, 콘텐츠, 음악 등 다양한 매체를 활용해서 한국어를 열심히 익히려고 노력 중인데요~ 좀 도와주면 좋겠는데요. 제발요 🙏

      다 뻔한 말이지만 매일 지속적으로 연습하면 분명히 좋아질 거예요. 이미 다 아시는 내용이겠지만 이 비디오를 참고해 주세요. 👉 ruclips.net/video/Sd7AEOrUk_k/видео.html

      I used some Chinese learning books in a series. 😀
      One series was for A2 level learners and focused on conversations in various situations. I went through the entire series first. And then used them again for dictation practice (obviouly repeatedly listened to the audio recordings). So I listened to the audio only when I'm not sure about pronunciation while I read aloud.
      Another series, the first book was for B1 level and the second book was B2, covered diverse topics like health, social issues, and economics etc. Although they were challenging, I found these books the most enjoyable. They have a lot of useful expressions and also helped expand my general knowledge through Chinese.
      So since then, I often use study materials about diverse topics like health, social issues, and economics etc. I believe it's very important to find resources that fit your interests.

      Do you read 일기? or read all different types of writing? I think you might have find things difficult because 일기 is slight different from daily conversation. Many poetic vocabulary and expressions are used in 일기. So depending on what you usually read, vocabulary and grammar will be different from daily conversation. If reading is your way to learn Korean, you should be aware of it and I would like to suggest finding other study materials that you can understand 70-80%. 70-80% is from my personal experience. Whatever you are using to learn a language or whatever skills you are trying to improve, 70-80% will help you enjoy learning and stay motivated. Since you learned Hanguel and nouns, I would suggest expanding vocabulary and learn a little bit of grammar. As I mentioned in the video, learn numbers in Korean, the common phrases, pronouns, common verbs and adjectives, opposite verbs and adjectives, words that are in the same categories and words that came from English etc. While you are learning them, the most important thing is learn them with example sentences so that you can see how they are actually used and pronounced in sentences. And you can also learn the basic grammar from time to time once in a while if you have anything interesting.
      I have released many videos about those words, please check them out. And feel free to ask me if you have any questions. And there are many more take a look at my channel. Hope they help. ☺

      Grammar..another tricky one. I think it's best to start with the most interesting for you. Learn one or two new grammar every week through lots of lots of example sentences. Try to learn just the main rules of something and familiarise yourself with example sentences. You can just listen to them or read them out loud, or both. It's easy to understand grammar but don't just stop there. You should make a new grammar rule automatic that you can quickly recognise it in your head.

      Yes, you're right.🙂 But you've got me wrong. I meant you've got to get used to the sound. As you know, each language has its own unique sound frequency. So, you need to be able to recognise those particular sounds, which will help you understand when you listen to and speak the language.

    I really hope your English is computer generated, because your pronunciation is terribly off at times.
